In today’s study we have a couple of titles, verses 1-19 John the Baptist asks about Jesus. Verses 20-24 Jesus foretells judgement. Verses 25-27 Who is wise. Verses 28-30 The great invitation. Matthew 11 and verse 1 reads.

Mat.11:1] And it came to pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to preach in their cities.

After Jesus gave his twelve disciples their instructions he then gets to work teaching the people in their synagogues.

Mat.11:2] Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
[3] And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

John the Baptist is Jesus’ cousin, he knows that Jesus is the Messiah. So, then what is John talking about? John wanted to know if this was the first or second advent. was Jesus going to come with a rod of iron or on an ass, the foal of an ass. Let’s go to Zechariah 9 and verse 9 reads.

Zec.9:9] Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

This is the first advent, now comes the second advent.

Zec.9:10] And I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim, and the horse from Jerusalem, and the battle bow shall be cut off: and he shall speak peace unto the heathen: and his dominion shall be from sea even to sea, and from river even to the ends of the earth.

The second advent is the seventh trump, when Jesus returns. John knows that Jesus came for Salvation, he was baptizing and teaching repentance of sins. Let’s see how Jesus handles this. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 4 reads.

Mat.11:4] Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see:

Jesus didn’t say what to tell John, he said tell John what you see and hear.

Mat.11:5] The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

John the Baptist knew prophecy, he knew the prophecies of Isaiah very well. Let’s go to John 1 and verse 23 reads.

John 1:23] He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.

Esaias is Greek for Isaiah. Let’s go to Isaiah 40 and verse 3 reads.

Isa.40:3] The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

Jesus continues, Matthew 11 and verse 6 reads.

Mat.11:6] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

Let’s go to 1Peter 2 and verse 8 reads.

1Pet.2:8] And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Christ can be a stumbling block, because at the second advent people will worship the antichrist thinking he is the Christ.

1Pet.2:9] But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

But for God’s Elect, we will have the truth and not be deceived. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 7 reads.

Mat.11:7] And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

Did you go out to see a man who said one thing this way, then another thing that way. Whichever the way the wind blew. No, you listen to a man who said the truth, no matter what other people said.

Mat.11:8] But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses.

Did you go to a man soft in speech, again no, he spoke only truth. Soft clothing? No he wore camel hair and ate locust.

Mat.11:9] But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

More than a prophet, called the prophet of the Highest. Let’s go to Luke 1, speaking of John the Baptist, and verse 76 reads.

Luke 1:76] And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
[77] To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins,
[78] Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us,
[79] To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.
[80] And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.

Back to Matthew 11 and verse 10 reads.

Mat.11:10] For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

We already covered Isaiah 40:3, let’s now go to Malachi 3 and verse 1 reads.

Mal.3:1] Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to this temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.
[2] But who may abide the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire, and like fullers’ soap:
[3] And he shall sit as a refiner and purifer of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Says right here that they would offer him up as the Lamb of God. The high priests would crucify him. Prophesied long ago that first would come John the Baptist, then the Christ. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 11 reads.

Mat.11:11] Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.

This simply means all in heaven are in spirit and not in flesh. But that there are none in the flesh greater than John the Baptist.

Mat.11:12] And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

Let’s go to Luke 16 and verse 16 reads.

Luke 16:16] The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

This word Presseth is G971 biazō pronounced bee-ad’-zo and means; 1. to use force, to apply force. 2. to force, inflict violence on. John the Baptist would not be received, he would be beheaded. And Jesus would be crucified. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 13 reads.

Mat.11:13] For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John.
[14] And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come.

Elias is Greek for Elijah. God knew they wouldn’t receive him or Jesus. If it were really a choice then why does he have two advents. Elijah will come as one of the two witnesses just before the seventh trump. Let’s go to Malachi 4 and verse 5 reads.

Mal.4:5] Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:
[6] And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

Notice that fathers is plural. We have two, our Father, which is God. And they have their father which is Satan, the serpent’s seed. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 15 reads.

Mat.11:15] He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

This saying is for the Elect to hear, are your eyes and ears open? Rev.2:7, Rev.3:6,13,22, Rev.13:9. Take time to study these in depth, see what is written before and after. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 16 reads.

Mat.11:16] But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like unto children sitting in the markets, and calling unto their fellows,

Jesus is speaking of the Serpent’s Seed (Kenites). This word generation is G1074 and means; offspring or men of the same stock.

Mat.11:17] And saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned unto you, and ye have not lamented.
[18] For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.

A man that was under the vow of a Nazarite.

Mat.11:19] The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

First, this verse shows that Jesus did drink wine. Second, those who read God’s Word and do his commandments are justified by the Son before God.

Mat.11:20] Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

Remember that we are speaking to the Kenites, the Serpent’s Seed. These are unrepentant and their father is not our Father. Even with the miracles he did before them, they would not believe or repent. They will die in their sins, spiritually. The prophets Isaiah and Malachi warned of these generations, so did Christ in Matthew 13 with the parable of the Tares. Christ also warned them in John 8 when he was speaking directly to them.

Mat.11:21] Woe unto thee, Chorazin! woe unto thee, Bethsaida! for if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

Chorazin is a place in Palestine, Chorazin means; a furnace of smoke. But that even they would have repented should show how these are of that wicked one, the serpent’s seed. Let’s see how the king of Nineveh repented. Jonah 3 and verse 6 reads.

Jonah 3:6] For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
[7] And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
[8] But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

And let’s see what happened in Tyre and Zidon, let’s go to Joel 3 and verse 3 reads.

Joel 3:3] And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.
[4] Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompence me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;

They would have repented if they had seen the miracles that Jesus had done. But these Kenites and the Kenites in the end times will never repent. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 22 reads.

Mat.22] But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you.

Repentance is what gives us Salvation, this is the reason Jesus has come into this world. He continues.

Mat.11:23] And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.
[24] But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

That they won’t repent is certain death, speaking of the second death. Let’s go to Revelation 20 and see about God’s Elect and how they will be in the end times, and verse 4 reads.

Rev.20:4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

The Elect will serve Christ during the millennium as priest.

Rev.20:5] But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
[6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

Now let’s go to Revelation 21 and verse 8 reads.

Rev.21:8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Up in smoke forever and ever. As if they never existed. Remember Hebrews 12 and verse 29 reads.

Heb.12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.

Back to Matthew 11 and verse 25 reads.

Mat.11:25] At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.

These wise are wise in the world and not in the Word. Let’s go to Romans 11 and verse 7 reads.

Rom.11:7] What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
[8] (According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day.

Blessed are you for studying the Word of God today with understanding. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 26 reads.

Mat.11:26] Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.

Another prayer from Jesus to the Father. Similar to John 11:41 where Jesus said “Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me”.

Mat.11:27] All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.

It is written in Proverbs 1 and verse 7 reads.

Prov.1:7] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Knowledge is given only by the Father to those who love him, his Elect or called or chosen. Let’s go to Ephesians 1 and verse 3 reads.

Eph.1:3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
[4] According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
[5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
[6] To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

That word foundation is the Katabole, G2602 the overthrow of Satan in the first earth age. He has chosen us from then, to be his Elect today in the end times because he knows he can count on us. Back to Matthew 11 and verse 28 reads.

Mat.11:28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Rest is Sabbath, Christ is our rest. He is the high sabbath, that is the Passover.

Mat.11:29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Meek is humble. Lowly on a colt of an ass, for salvation has come into the world. We will find rest in him, he shall give us the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. Now let’s understand this yoke, it takes the burden and distributes it so it is easier on the workmen. Remember the laborers are few, we will do our works for the LORD. Let’s go to 1John 5 and verse 2 reads.

1John 5:2] By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
[3] For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
[4] For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Great study today, we learn so much when we search his word and find the true meaning therein. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
