Two Bodies (Revised)

Today we will study that we have two bodies. One spiritual and the other flesh. Now the spiritual body is in the flesh, and contains our souls which are the intellect of our spirits. We begin in Genesis chapter 1 and verse 26 reads.

Gen.1:26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

This is important to understand, we are now in the second earth age. God is talking to us here and he used the words “our image”. Our flesh is the exact image of our spiritual body. And Jesus would say in John 14 that if you have seen me you have seen the Father. And we continue with verse 27 and it reads.

Gen.1:27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

This was when he created us in the first earth age, when he created us in the spirit. Let’s move down to chapter 2 and read verse 7.

Gen2:7] And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

He formed us of the earth and breathed into us and we became flesh with our spiritual bodies within. When does this happen? Let’s go to Luke 1:39 and it reads.

Luke 1:39] And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda;

Mary ran with haste to see her cousin Elisabeth. This is right after the Holy Spirit impregnated her. And Elisabeth was 6 months with John in her womb.

Luke 1:40] And entered into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth.
[41] And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:
[42] And she spake out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
[43] And whence is this to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
[44] For, lo, as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in mine ears, the babe leaped in my womb for joy.

So, Elisabeth being also with child, with John 6 months, felt the Holy Spirit in Mary the day of Mary’s conception. John leaped in his mother’s womb when he felt it also. Meaning John also was with spirit. So, with this we can conclude that God places the spirit in the flesh at conception. Paul teaches in 1Cor.15:44-58 about our two bodies. Let’s go there and it reads.

1Cor.15:44] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.

There is a flesh body and there is a spiritual body.

1Cor.15:45] And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.

This first Adam was the one in the garden, this last Adam is Jesus Christ.

1Cor.15:46] Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.

First earth age in the spirit, second earth age spirit within the flesh, third earth age back to spirit only.

1Cor.15:47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
[48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
[49] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
[50] Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

The flesh cannot enter heaven, only the spirit. There are two dimensions.

1Cor.15:51] Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
[52] In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

This is for the 7th trump when the true Christ returns. Satan comes at the 6th trump. Don’t be deceived. We that are alive in the flesh when Jesus returns will be changed into our spiritual bodies and no longer in the flesh. All flesh will perish, and the millennium begins. Now he explains the difference between spirit and soul.

1Cor.15:53] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

This corruptible is the flesh, and must put on the spiritual body. But, the mortal (liable to die) must put on immortality (deathlessness). This is your soul, we can call it the intellect of the spirit. It is your thought process right now, it is You.

1Cor.15:54] So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
[55] O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Death is Satan. Heb.2:14.

1Cor.15:56] The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law.
[57] But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
[58] Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

This word labor is our works. It is the only thing we can take with us to heaven. Now, let us go to Eccl. 12:6-7 and read.

Eccl.12:6] Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.

In other words, “when you die”.

Eccl.12:7] Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

This showing right here that we have two bodies and the spirit is within the flesh. Let’s go to Romans 8:1-9 and wrap this lesson up.

Rom.8:1] There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
[2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
[3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
[4] That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Notice the uppercase Spirit, that’s the Lords Spirit. In John 4:24 it reads.

John 4:24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Back to Romans and verse 5 reads.

Rom.8:5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
[6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
[7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
[8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
[9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

We dwell in Christ and he in us, so the Lord dwells in us also. We now are of the Spirit, the LORD, and we can walk in peace through this world knowing we have Salvation. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
