The Old and The New
In today’s study we will see how the Old Testament and the New Testament are tightly woven together. Many churches today tell you that the Old Testament is for Jews and is not for Christians. This couldn’t be further from the truth, not only a lie but purposeful deceit. They don’t want you to see that the LORD is against their rapture theory. Eze.13:18-22. Or maybe they just don’t understand or were never taught the truth, whichever their reason is, it is foolish. Leave that church, dust off your shoes and find a church that accepts that both Old and New make up the whole word of God. In these times that we are living in, it is important to understand the prophecies that have come to pass and those that are about to. Many prophecies still need to happen before the coming of the Lord. We can’t watch as watchmen unless we know what to look for. We cannot know the New without knowing the Old. Let’s go to Peter, who Christ built his church on, 2Pet.3 and verse 1 reads.
2Pet.3:1] This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
[2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
Peter wants us to look back to the Old Testament and study the prophets. How can we know if Jesus was quoting or fulfilling the prophets if we don’t study the prophets.
2Pet.3:3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
[5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
[6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
That we have three heavens and earth ages. The first was overflowed with water, the Katabole G2602, the overthrow of Satan, the foundation of this world age. Notice that they are willingly ignorant of this fact. Meaning; they were told and chose not to hear.
2Pet.3:7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.
Now in this earth age, reserved unto fire. The first by water, the second by fire. Heb.12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
2Pet.3:8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
Important to know that verse, it explains Genesis chapter 1.
2Pet.3:9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
The Lord is very patient and it is his will that all come to repentance.
2Pet.3:10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
He comes as a thief in the night because when he comes, all will be worshipping the antichrist thinking he is the true Christ. The 6th. trump comes before the 7th. trump. Let’s go now to Gen.1 and verse 1 reads.
Gen.1:1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Period, this was the beginning of the first earth age. Some churches teach this world is only 6500 years old, they are willingly ignorant. We have fossils to prove that this world is millions of years old. Check my study in Gen.1 in Daily Scriptures.
Gen.1:2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Check out this word “Was”, it is H1961 from H1933 in the manuscripts, and means; Became. Now we know that this earth became void, the second earth age has begun. Notice also that the Holy Spirit moved and did not hover.
Gen.1:3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
This Light is Jesus, Salvation.
Gen.1:4] And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[5] And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Remember we have two trees in the garden, the tree of Life and the tree of good and evil. From the first day of this earth age, we have a choice of Jesus or Satan in the world. Also remember, 2Pet.3:8 One day is a thousand years and a thousand years is one day with the Lord.
Now let’s go to the New Testament, John 1 and verse 1 reads.
John 1:1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
Did you catch what was just said, John starts with in the beginning also. Check out this word “Word”, it is Logos, that’s Jesus. We know that the Holy Spirit and God were there, now we learn that Jesus is God. This is called the Trinity.
John 1:3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
[4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Light is Jesus, Jesus is Salvation. Let’s go to verse 14 and it reads.
John 1:14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
The Word was made flesh, Jesus is the Word, Jesus is the Light and Jesus is Salvation. God’s plan from the beginning has come to pass. And we know his plan from the beginning because we have read both the New and the Old Testaments. This second earth age is given to us to decide between the Light and the Darkness. Let’s go to Amos 5 and verse 18 reads.
Amos 5:18] Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
The day of the LORD comes at the seventh trump, the whole world is worshipping the antichrist thinking he is the real Christ. With the exception of his elect.
Amos 5:19] As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
We have a saying today, out of the pot and into the fire. This serpent is interesting for these end times.
Amos 5:20] Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
Are we seeing a pattern here, how can you understand the New if you haven’t read the Old. Now let’s go back to the New Testament, Jesus is speaking so listen very closely. Mat.5 and verse 17 reads.
Mat.5:17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
From the lips of Jesus, he said he did not come to destroy law or prophet, but fulfill.
Mat.5:18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
Not one letter or period from the law, do not listen to anyone that tells you we are not under law anymore, they are liars. We are hearing with our own ears the teaching of Jesus Christ, he continues.
Mat.5:19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Jesus gave us a challenge here, do them and teach them to others. Notice he also says this heaven and earth shall pass, pass into the third and final age. Another example, this one is my favorite, let’s go to Isaiah 7 and verse 14 reads.
Isa.7:14] Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Immanuel means; God with us. Now, let’s go back to the New, Matthew 1 and verse 22 reads.
Mat.1:22] Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
[23] Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.
Spoken by the prophet Isaiah, the Old teaches and proves the New. Without the Old we would have no idea Jesus was quoting the Old Testament or fulfilling their prophecies. Now we go to the most lied about book in the bible, the book of Revelation. Most churches tell their congregation not to read or understand this book in the New Testament. Why? Because this book and the book of Ezekiel prove their rapture theory is a lie. They tell them “You don’t have to read Revelation, we’ll be gone”. The fact is Revelation means; to open or reveal. In Revelation we learn that we are sealed in our foreheads the Word of God, we are sealed with the truth. Check my studies in “Daily Scriptures” where we study chapter by chapter and verse by verse the book of Revelation. But, for the sake of this study, we are going to Revelation 22 and pick it up with verse 7 and it reads.
Rev.22:7] Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
[8] And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
[9] Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
It is a sin to worship an angel or anything other than God. Notice first, I Am, his Holy name. Second that he was a fellow servant and third of the prophets.
Rev.22:10] And he saith unto me, Seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book: for the time is at hand.
Not because he wanted it sealed, but NOT sealed. For the time is at hand is the fifth trump, a time for learning and teaching. A time for God to open eyes and ears to his word.
Rev.22:11] He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still.
[12] And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
[13] I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
From Genesis through Revelation. John 1:1, The Word was God.
Rev.22:14] Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
That tree of Life from Genesis, the Old Testament. Those who know the Old will enter through the gates into New Jerusalem.
Rev.22:15] For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
Woe to those that teach falsely.
Rev.22:16] I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
Did you catch that? It was Jesus that was talking with John all along. He called himself a fellow servant, that would be Savior. Called himself a prophet, that would be the Son of God, the Light. He was the beginning and the end, Genesis through Revelation, the Word of God. Without the Old, we can never understand the New. Never let another man tell you not to study the whole Word of God. Let’s go to his throne.
