Today we are going to study who is the Lamb of God and we know that it is Jesus Christ, crucified. But when was this decided, and why was this implemented? When we studied Genesis 1:1-2 we learned that Satan drew a third of God’s children from him, and this brought on the Katabole, the overthrow of Satan and the first earth age. Now, in this second earth age, we are to be born of water (womb) and live in the flesh. To see if we are going to follow God or Satan. But God gave us salvation in the flesh by sacrificing his only begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Emmanuel, God with us, a selfless sacrifice that only he could make. Let’s begin this lesson in Genesis 22 and verse 1 reads.

Gen.22:1] And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

God did tempt Abraham, let’s first go to 1Corinthians 10 and verse 13 reads.

1Cor.10:13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Now let’s go to James and verse 12 reads.

James 1:12] Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

Remember this verse says, the LORD hath promised to them that love him. Back to Genesis 22 and verse 2 reads.

Gen.22:2] And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

The LORD tells Abraham to take Isaac to mount Moriah, you might know this mount as Golgotha. Notice that God called Isaac his only son, Ishmael was his first son born of the Egyptian Hagar and it was not to be the seed that Christ would come through. Let’s go to 1John 4 and verse 9 reads.

1John 4:9] In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
[10] Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.

Propitiation is atonement, blood that is sacrificed. Here we have God’s Love again. Back to Genesis 22 and verse 3 reads.

Gen.22:3] And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.
[4] Then on the third day Abraham lifted up his eyes, and saw the place afar off.
[5] And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you,

Abraham said I and the lad will come again to you. Abraham’s faith in God’s promise to him that in Isaac his seed would be called. Let’s go to the Faith chapter of Hebrews, Hebrews 11 and verse 8 reads.

Heb.11:8] By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
[9] By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:
[10] For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
[11] Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised.
[12] Therefore sprang there even of one, and him as good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.

Faith in the promise given by the LORD to Abraham, Sarah, Isaac and Jacob. The LORD made this promise to all of them. Back to Genesis 22 and verse 6 reads.

Gen.22:6] And Abraham took the wood of the burnt offering, and laid it upon Isaac his son; and he took the fire in his hand, and a knife; and they went both of them together.
[7] And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?
[8] And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

A lamb was required for the burnt offering of sin. We’ll cover this in the gospel of John in a minute. Just notice Abraham says God will provide himself a lamb for the offering. This is called faith.

Gen.22:9] And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood.

It is said he laid the wood on the altar as God would lay his only Son on the cross.

Gen.22:10] And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.

Would you have such faith? Remember the LORD made a promise to Abraham.

Gen.22:11] And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I.
[12] And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me.

This word Fearest means; to Revere or Love. Because Abraham loved the LORD, proving his love by not withholding his only son. But having faith that the LORD would keep his promise to him. Whether Abraham thought that God would resurrect his son Isaac, or of another means, he simply put his trust in the LORD.

Gen.22:13] And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
[14] And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

Jehovah-jireh means; The LORD will provide.

Gen.22:15] And the angel of the LORD called unto Abraham out of heaven the second time,
[16] And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the LORD, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:

Because you have believed in my promise. This is why it is written Whosoever believes in Jesus, The Son of God. John 3:16.

Gen.22:17] That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
[18] And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

All nations shall be blessed because through Abraham’s seed Christ will be born. We see here that with Faith Abraham pleased God. The LORD provided the Lamb for Salvation to the world through his only begotten Son. It is an abomination to the LORD to sacrifice any animal because the Lamb of God has paid the price once and for all time. That only on repentance can our sins be forgiven. Let’s go to Exodus 12 and find the first Passover, Exodus 12 and verse 1 reads.

Exo.12:1] And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
[2] This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Let’s go to Deuteronomy 16 and verse 1 reads.

Deu.16:1] Observe the month of Abib, and keep the passover unto the LORD thy God: for in the month of Abib the LORD thy God brought thee forth out of Egypt by night.

This month is called Abib, and should not be called Nisan. Because that was first used by those who came out of confusion, Babylon. It is a Babylonian word and not from the Hebrew tongue. Back to Exodus 12 and verse 3 reads.

Exo.12:3] Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:

This is a special day to the LORD, when the children of the LORD went into the promised land Joshua 4:19 they did so on the tenth of Abib.

Exo.12:4] And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.

If your household is too small to eat the whole lamb, then share it with another house that is small as well. The idea is that a sacrifice should  not be wasted.

Exo.12:5] Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year: ye shall take it out from the sheep, or from the goats:

Remember in Genesis 22, the LORD provided a ram. A ram is a male lamb, matured at least a year. But the Passover lamb should be the best of your flock, without blemish.

Exo.12:6] And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.

Let’s go to Leviticus 23 and verse 4 reads.

Lev.23:4] These are the feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons.
[5] In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the LORD’s passover.

This was the day they crucified our Lord Jesus.

Lev.23:6] And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the LORD: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.

By even, before the sun goes down, Jesus was placed in the tomb. At even, began the fifteenth day. Back to Exodus 12 and verse 7 reads.

Exo.12:7] And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.

When they did this the death angel had to pass over their house’s, hence Passover. We do this today by placing a little olive oil on our door post to keep evil spirits out of our house.

Exo.12:8] And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.
[9] Eat not of it raw, nor sodden at all with water, but roast with fire; his head with his legs, and with the purtenance thereof.

Sodden means; boiled. Do not boil the meat but cook it with fire.

Exo.12:10] And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.

Any that remains after midnight, burn it in the fire. This is why he allows two houses to share.

Exo.12:11] And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’s passover.

Eat it in haste because afterwards it comes quickly, be ready to roll. Think of the gospel armor, to stand against the fiery darts of the devil.

Exo.12:12] For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.
[13] And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.
[14] And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.

He just said to do this forever. The blood of the lamb is the Passover. Jesus became our Passover. let’s go to 1Corinthians 5 and verse 6 reads.

1Cor.5:6] Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

Leaven is used here for sin.

1Cor.5:7] Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Christ is our Passover and not our easter, easter is a pagan holiday. We can find this abomination to the LORD in several scriptures, just look for grove worship or the queen of heaven in Jeremiah. It also said be a new lump, let’s go to Matthew 26 and verse 27 reads.

Mat.26:27] And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
[28] For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

A new lump, we need to be made anew with Jesus and we do this by repentance. Back to 1 Corinthians 5 and verse 8 reads.

1Cor.5:8] Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

We are made anew in the blood of Jesus Christ. That on repentance we are forgiven of our sins. Let’s go to John 1 where we find John the Baptist and verse 29 reads.

John 1:29] The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

Let’s go to Isaiah 53 and verse 11 reads.

Isa.53:11] He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Jesus fulfilled this prophecy on the cross. Back to John 1 and verse 30 reads.

John 1:30] This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
[31] And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.

John the Baptist was fulfilling prophecy as well. Let’s go to Malachi 3 and verse 1 reads.

Mal.3:1] Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to this temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts.

Back to John 1 and verse 32 reads.

John 1:32] And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
[33] And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
[34] And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
[35] Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
[36] And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

John the Baptist was a cousin to Jesus, their mothers being sisters, Luke 1. Notice that John baptized with water but Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit. This allows the Father and the Son to dwell within us. John the Baptist says “behold the Lamb of God”, letting everyone know that Salvation had come into the world. Let’s now go to Revelation 22 and verse 1 reads.

Rev.22:1] And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb.

We see here that the Lamb of God sits on the throne, on the right side of the Father. The two are One, the Holy One of Israel.

Rev.22:2] In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

The Tree of Life from the Garden, this is Jesus Christ our Savior. The choice from the very beginning, the Tree of Life or the Tree of good and evil. Your choice, will you follow Jesus or Satan.

Rev.22:3] And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:

And the promise from God will come to pass exactly as written. From Genesis to Revelation, from the beginning to the end. Jesus Christ, The Word of God, Savior, promised from God from the beginning. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
