In today’s study our titles are; Verses 1-27 Life in the Spirit. Verses 28-39 More than conquerors. Notice the uppercase S in Spirit as we continue our study in the book of Romans today, it is the Holy Spirit. Romans 8 and verse 1 reads.
Rom.8:1] There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Those of us that walk in the Holy Spirit are his Elect. Why no condemnation? We have been justified already in the first earth age. We just studied this in the last chapter, about whether we are under law or not. Let’s go to Galatians 5 and verse 16 reads.
Gal.5:16] This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
When we separate ourselves from flesh unto the Holy Spirit, then we have repented of our sins, and the LORD dwells in us.
Gal.5:17] For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
[18] But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Not under law because we have overcome in the first earth age, being justified by the Holy Spirit. Back to Romans 8 and verse 2 reads.
Rom.8:2] For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
After repentance, we are freed from the law of death, which is spiritual. Let’s go to 1Corinthians 15 and verse 44 reads.
1Cor.15:44] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body.
We have two bodies, one spiritual and the other of flesh. Check my Sunday Lesson in Topical Teachings called Two Bodies.
1Cor.15:45] And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Quickening G2227 zōopoieō pronounced dzo-op-oy-eh’-o, and means; to make alive. Speaking here spiritually, Jesus (the second man Adam), would be; d. of the spirit, quickening as respects the spirit, endued with new and greater powers of life.
Being raised on the third day, all who believe he is the Son of God (God with us, Emmanuel) shall have everlasting life.
1Cor.15:46] Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
[47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
[48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
[49] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
This is why it is so important to understand we have three heaven and earth ages. In the first age, we were spirit. In the second age, we must be born of flesh. In the third age, there is only spirit. Flesh cannot enter into heaven. Back to Romans 8 and verse 3 reads.
Rom.8:3] For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
By his stripes we are healed. Let’s go to Genesis 1 and verse 26 reads.
Gen.1:26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
God said; let Us make man in Our image. He included himself, and was speaking to us. This word Image is H6754 tselem pronounced tseh’-lem and means; a phantom that is figuratively an illusion or a resemblance; hence a representative {figure}. Can also mean; Idols.
We see our word Phantom here, an exact copy of our spirit made flesh. Your flesh body is an exact copy of your spirit. Jesus was God with us in the flesh, as given to us in John 1 and verse 14 reads.
John 1:14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Back to Romans 8 and verse 4 reads.
Rom.8:4] That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
If we are in Jesus and the Father and the Son dwell in us, this is the Spirit that we are in and we fulfill the righteousness of the law. We are still under law.
Rom.8:5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
[6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Of the flesh we die in our sins, but of the spirit we are lifted by the Holy Spirit into life everlasting. Jesus explains this in John 3 and verse 5 reads.
John 3:5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
He says; Truly, Truly, except a man be born of water, this is man being born of the flesh. The waters are of the womb, the first thing that happens when a woman gives birth is the bag of waters break. Do not overlook it also says of Spirit, meaning the Holy Spirit.
John 3:6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[7] Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
Born again is Born from above. Most bibles have this in the side column. This means that unless you are born of the flesh, from spirit to flesh, then back to spirit with the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, you cannot enter into the kingdom of God. Back to Romans 8 and verse 7 reads.
Rom.8:7] Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
Enmity, we have heard this one before. Let’s go to Genesis 3 and verse 14 reads.
Gen.3:14] And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
[15] And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
Satan nailed his heels to the cross, but Christ shall bruise his head at the seventh trump. This being the first man Adam, and sin entered into the flesh because Adam and Eve broke the first commandment of God. Do not partake of the tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. Satan. Let’s go to James 4 and verse 4 reads.
James 4:4] Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
The first beast is rising out of the waters today, called the one world order. Watchmen watch. Back to Romans and verse 8 reads.
Rom.8:8] So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
[9] But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
[10] And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
[11] But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Quicken means; to make alive. Mortal means; liable to die, and pertains to your soul. John 14 explained how if we are in Christ then the Father and the Son dwell within us, that would be his Holy Spirit.
Rom.8:12] Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
Notice to live after the flesh is our goal. Talking about eternal life. Let’s look at this word; Debtors G3781 opheiletēs pronounced of-i-let’-ace, and means; An ower that is a person indebted; figuratively a delinquent; morally a transgressor (against God). a. one held by some obligation, bound by some duty. One who owes God penalty or whom God can demand punishment as something due, i.e. a sinner.
We are sinners who owe God an obligation and we are bound to serve him as his children for eternal life.
Rom.8:13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
When we repent from breaking the laws of his commandments, we are forgiven and the sins do not exist anymore, being blotted out then we live eternally. It takes the Holy Spirit within us to cleanse us.
Rom.8:14] For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
[15] For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
Talking about our inheritance. Abba is Father. But I want to go to Eze.18:4 and read.
Eze.18:4] Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
All souls belong to the Father, and he will do with them as he pleases. Let’s go to Isaiah 56 and verse 5 reads.
Isa.56:5] Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
Back to Romans and verse 16 reads.
Rom.8:16] The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
[17] And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Heirs again, what is our inheritance? Life everlasting. But where is our inheritance? For that let’s go to Psalms 37 and verse 8 reads.
Psa.37:8] Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not thyself in any wise to do evil.
[9] For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.
We find in Ezekiel from chapters 40-48 the millennium. Let’s go to Ezekiel 44, we find our inheritance, and verse 28 reads.
Eze.44:28] And it shall be unto them for an inheritance: I am their inheritance: and ye shall give them no possession in Israel: I am their possession.
The LORD our God is our inheritance. Back to Romans and verse 18 reads.
Rom.8:18] For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
The glory that awaits us is more than any tribulation that we must go through in the flesh. Paul taught this deep meaning in 1Corinthians 2 and verse 7 reads.
1Cor.2:7] But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
[8] Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
If the Elect had known, they would not have let the Kenites crucify our Lord Jesus Christ.
1Cor.2:9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
[10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
Eyes to see and ears to hear. Written to God’s Elect.
1Cor.2:11] For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
Kept from his Elect, so that the plan of God for Salvation to the rest of the world might be obtained through the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Remember when Peter cut off the ear of Malchus, what did Jesus say? Matthew 26 and verse 51 reads.
Mat.26:51] And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest’s, and smote off his ear.
[52] Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.
[53] Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
[54] But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?
Jesus said what is written must come to pass exactly as it was written. Let’s go to Revelation 13 and verse 9 reads.
Rev.13:9] If any man have an ear, let him hear.
[10] He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.
Saints are his Elect. Can you see God’s humor, Peter cut Malchus’s ear off, have an ear to hear? Back to Romans 8 and verse 19 reads.
Rom.8:19] For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.
Creature is man in the flesh. Even the world waits for man to be made spirit again, the third earth age.
Rom.8:20] For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
[21] Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Going back to the Father in our spiritual bodies, free from the corruption of flesh to our spirits. This is the glorious freedom of being the children of God.
Rom.8:22] For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
This creation is all of nature now. Even nature waits for the third earth age patiently. Let’s go to Jeremiah 12 and verse 4 reads.
Jer.12:4] How long shall the land mourn, and the herbs of every field wither, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein? the beasts are consumed, and the birds; because they said, He shall not see our last end.
Back to Romans 8 and verse 23 reads.
Rom.8:23] And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Even as God’s elect (first fruits), we wait patiently for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let’s go to the teachings of Jesus, Luke 20 and verse 34 reads.
Luke 20:34] And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:
[35] But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:
[36] Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Back to Romans 8 and verse 24 reads.
Rom.8:24] For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
Hope in what we cannot see is Faith. Let’s go to John 20 and verse 29 reads.
John 20:29] Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Back to Romans 8 and verse 25 reads.
Rom.8:25] But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
Very important, we wait for the true Christ, knowing the antichrist comes first. Now read closely these next few verses.
Rom.8:26] Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
The Lord prays for us (His Elect) and gives intercession. Let’s go to the gospel armor, Ephesians 6 and verse 11 reads.
Eph.6:11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
[14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
And now, why we came here.
Eph.6:18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
In the Spirit, because the LORD dwells within us, this was written for the Elect. Back to Romans 8 and verse 27 reads.
Rom.8:27] And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
The Holy Spirit makes intercession for the Elect. Solomon was one of the wisest. Let’s go to 1Chronicles 28 and verse 9 reads.
1Chron.28:9] And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.
Only the Father can read your mind. Back to Romans 8 and verse 28 reads.
Rom.8:28] And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
Called is another name for his Elect. Let’s go to Ephesians 1 and verse 4 reads.
Eph.1:4] According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
This word Foundation is G2602 Katabole, from G2598 Katabolle which means; the overthrow of Satan in the first earth age. We see that God’s Elect were chosen in the first earth age.
Eph.1:5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Predestinated us in the first earth age, not given free will as others in this earth age.
Eph.1:6] To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
Are you one of God’s Elect? Has God opened your eyes to his Word? If so, then you know you will not fly away, but Stand with the gospel armor on and be delivered up to Satan and the Holy Spirit will speak through you. Back to Romans 8 and verse 29 reads.
Rom.8:29] For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Known from before, the first earth age, making God’s Elect the first fruits. Giving us eyes to see and ears to hear the Word of God. Let’s go 2Timothy 2 and verse 15 reads.
2Tim.2:15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
[16] But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
[17] And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
[18] Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
Beware of false teachers, antichrist, and they are in the world today.
2Tim.2:19] Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Nevertheless, the plan of God and his three earth ages shall stand. The second earth age, which is now, is for Salvation. Back to Romans 8 and verse 30 reads.
Rom.8:30] Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
So much information was just given between verses 26 and 30. When we are working for the Lord, and it seems that we don’t even know what to pray for, the Lord himself intervenes for us. Saints are set aside one’s, God’s Elect, for his will he does this. His Elect are Called, are you Called, have you been Chosen. Has he opened your eyes to his word lately, because you have studied to show yourself approved? That some things you never knew before now makes sense? The Elect were Chosen in the first earth age, they were justified (judged). This is why it is so important to understand the three earth ages in Genesis. You cannot understand the end without knowing the beginning. The Elect stood with the Lord in the first earth age and he uses them in this second earth age. They have already been justified and glorified.
Rom.8:31] What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
Remember prophecies are meant for examples to us in these end times, 1Cor.10:11, let’s go to Numbers 14 and verse 8 reads.
Num.14:8] If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey.
The promised land of the end times.
Num.14:9] Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not.
Fear not the evil of this world, for we are not of this world. Back to Romans 8 and verse 32 reads.
Rom.8:32] He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Freely given to us is the understanding of his Word. He opens the door that no man can shut. Revelation 3:7.
Rom.8:33] Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
God only will judge. God has already justified the Elect in the first earth age. Let’s go to Isaiah 50 and verse 8 reads.
Isa.50:8] He is near that justifieth me; who will contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine adversary? let him come near to me.
[9] Behold, the Lord GOD will help me; who is he that shall condemn me? lo, they all shall wax old as a garment; the moth shall eat them up.
The LORD will take care of his Elect from the evil in this world. Back to Romans 8 and verse 34 reads.
Rom.8:34] Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
[35] Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
[36] As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Written in Psalms 44 and verse 22 reads.
Psa.44:22] Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.
Killed for his name’s sake, as Christ men, for being called Christians.
Rom.8:37] Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
[38] For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
[39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Nothing can separate us from God. We have learned that God dwells in us. Fear not for he loves us, and if he be for us who can be against us. I cannot stress enough the importance of understanding the first six chapters of Genesis. The knowledge of the three earth ages. We, God’s Elect, stood with God and fought against the Dragon and his angels in the first earth age. The Dragon, Satan, drew a third of God’s children from him. God had two choices. First, he could destroy a third of his children. Second, He could create this second earth age for Salvation. God chose to give Salvation to all his children by selflessly being a sacrifice for once and all time on the cross, that whosoever would believe in him, would have everlasting life. Let’s go to his throne.
