Today’s titles are; Verses 1-6 The twelve are to preach and to heal. Verses 7-9 The death of John the Baptist. Verses 10-17 Jesus feeds the multitude. Verses 18-22 Peter’s great confession. Verses 23-27 The terms of discipleship. Verses 28-36 The Transfiguration. Verses 37-56 Lessons for the disciples. Verses 57-62 Test of discipleship. Luke 9 and verse 1 reads.

Luke 9:1] Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.

First let’s see exactly what a disciple is. Disciple G3101 mathētēs pronounced math-ay-tes’. And it means; A learner that is pupil. 1. a learner, pupil, disciple. We are also disciples of Jesus, meaning students of his Word. With that, these powers that Jesus gave his twelve disciples he has also given to us. Let’s go to Luke 10 and verse 19 reads.

Luke 10:19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

These serpents are Kenites, and these scorpions I like to think of as the terrorists of today. They can turn your backbone to mush.

Luke 10:20] Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Jesus also gave us power to heal, let’s go to James 5 and verse 13 reads.

James 5:13] Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
[14] Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
[15] And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
[16] Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Anoint with the oil of our people (Olive oil). It is not the oil that heals, but your faith in God that heals. Back to Luke 9 and verse 2 reads.

Luke 9:2] And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

Look at this word Kingdom, it is the King and his dominion. The Word of God became flesh and walked with us. John 1:14. The job of a disciple is to preach the kingdom of God and heal the sick. Let’s go to Hebrews 5 and verse 12 reads.

Heb.5:12] For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
[13] For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
[14] But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

So, we are to teach first then heal. Study to show thyself approved. 2Tim.2:15. Back to Luke 9 and verse 3 reads.

Luke 9:3] And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

The word Scrip means; a money bag, or begging bag. God does not send out beggars. Freely he has given, freely we shall give. Let’s go to Matthew 10 and verse 7 reads.

Mat.10:7] And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
[8] Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

This is why here at TheChristMinistries.org we will never accept any donations, tithes or love offerings. This church has received the biggest blessing of all, we have no overhead, no building to keep the lights on or rent to be paid. In Acts, Simon (not of the twelve, but a sorcerer) tried to buy the Holy Spirit. Acts 8 and verse 18 reads.

Acts 8:18] And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
[19] Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
[20] But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.

If you belong to a church, it is necessary to keep the lights on. Just make sure they are teaching the True Word of God. Let 2John be a warning to all Christians. 2John 1 and verse 9 reads.

2John 1:9] Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
[10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
[11] For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Back to Luke 9 and verse 4 reads.

Luke 9:4] And whatsoever house ye enter into, there abide, and thence depart.
[5] And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.

Where you are received, stay, because they make a big party for guests who come into their house. If you bounce from house to house you will never have time to preach because of the distraction. Settle down and preach. Now, this “shake off the dust” means; those who do not receive you, do not receive the LORD who sent you. Let’s see our example in Acts 13 and verse 49 reads.

Acts 13:49] And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
[50] But the Jews stirred up the devout and honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
[51] But they shook off the dust of their feet against them, and came unto Iconium.
[52] And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

The Holy Spirit will fill you with joy. Back to Luke 9 and verse 6 reads.

Luke 9:6] And they departed, and went through the towns, preaching the gospel, and healing every where.

No doubt they went ahead of Jesus into these towns to prepare them for the Son of God has come to Israel.

Luke 9:7] Now Herod the tetrarch heard of all that was done by him: and he was perplexed, because that it was said of some, that John was risen from the dead;

Perplexed? Downright scared to death. Notice he says, it is John risen from the dead. Will Herod believe and convert when Jesus rises from the dead, I don’t think he will.

Luke 9:8] And of some, that Elias had appeared; and of others, that one of the old prophets was risen again.

Elias is Greek for Elijah.

Luke 9:9] And Herod said, John have I beheaded: but who is this, of whom I hear such things? And he desired to see him.

Harod would get his chance to see and talk with Jesus at his trial. Luke 23 and verse 8 reads.

Luke 23:8] And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
[9] Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

But Jesus never answered him a word. fulfilling prophecy in Isaiah 53 and verse 7 reads.

Isa.53:7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

The Lamb of God. Back to Luke 9 and verse 10 reads.

Luke 9:10] And the apostles, when they were returned, told him all that they had done. And he took them, and went aside privately into a desert place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.

Bethsaida is G966 and means; house of fish. 1. a small fishing village on the west shore of Lake Gennesaret, home of Andrew, Peter, Philip and John. 2. a village in lower Gaulanitis on the eastern shore of Lake Gennesaret, not far from where the Jordan empties into it. The name is of Chaldee origin.

Luke 9:11] And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
[12] And when the day began to wear away, then came the twelve, and said unto him, Send the multitude away, that they may go into the towns and country round about, and lodge, and get victuals: for we are here in a desert place.

Keep in mind the feeding of these five thousand is teaching them the Word of God truthfully and without apology.

Luke 9:13] But he said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they said, We have no more but five loaves and two fishes; except we should go and buy meat for all this people.

Five in biblical Numeric is Grace. The loaves represent the body of Christ. Two in biblical Numeric represents the Son in the Triune Godhead. The fish is an acronym meaning; Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.

Luke 9:14] For they were about five thousand men. And he said to his disciples, Make them sit down by fifties in a company.

We have five thousand men, plus their wives and children would be about 20 thousand. Keep them in order, never chaotic.

Luke 9:15] And they did so, and made them all sit down.
[16] Then he took the five loaves and the two fishes, and looking up to heaven, he blessed them, and brake, and gave to the disciples to set before the multitude.

He blessed the food before they partook of it. Doing so, he multiplied the food to feed all that were there.

Luke 9:17] And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

Let’s go to Matthew 5 and verse 6 reads.

Mat.5:6] Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

We are talking about being filled with the Word of God. Now, we see 12 fragments being taken up, meaning away. These are the false teachings from the priest and traditions of men. Let’s go to Matthew 16 and verse 8 reads.

Mat.16:8] Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?
[9] Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

Twelve baskets.

Mat.16:10] Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

They took up seven baskets.

Mat.16:11] How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?
[12] Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

These are the twelve baskets and the seven baskets with the four thousand, they are the false doctrines of the Pharisees and the Sadducees. We see this example with our churches today. Some teach that not every Word of God is true, others teach the rapture doctrine which is so evil, they lead their congregation right into the lap of Satan. Beware, check your teachers, are they reading from scriptures, or teaching the traditions of men. Jeremiah 17 and verse 5 reads.

Jer.17:5] Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
[6] For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
[7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

Back to Luke 9 and verse 18 reads.

Luke 9:18] And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?

Do not overlook his Holy name, I Am.

Luke 9:19] They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.

In Matthew 16:14 we see they also included the prophet Jeremiah. Elias is Greek for Elijah and Herod thought it was John the Baptist.

Luke 9:20] He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.

Peter says; You are the Messiah (Christ, the anointed One), the Son of God. This is important today, because this is the statement of Baptism. Let’s go to Philip with the eunuch after Philip taught him Jesus. Acts 8 and verse 34 reads.

Acts 8:34] And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
[35] Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
[36] And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
[37] And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
[38] And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

We must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Let’s go to 1John 4 and verse 13 reads.

1John 4:13] Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
[14] And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
[15] Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
[16] And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

Let’s now back up to 1John 4 and verse 2 reads.

1John 4:2] Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
[3] And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

We must believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he has come into the world, and he is our Savior. Back to Luke 9 and verse 21 reads.

Luke 9:21] And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;

Jesus told them to tell no man who he is yet, the time was not at hand. Now he gives them information about his crucifixion, unfortunately they will not remember.

Luke 9:22] Saying, The Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be slain, and be raised the third day.

All prophecies must come to pass exactly as written. Psalms 22 among many other places. He also lets them know who it is that crucifies him, the Kenites, and that those responsible are in the house of God.

Luke 9:23] And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.

Check out this word Cross. It is G4716 and means; a well known instrument of most cruel and ignominious punishment, borrowed by the Greeks and Romans from the Phoenicians. Cross literally means; Torture. Jesus says to deny yourself. Deny G533 and means; to deny utterly that is disown abstain. a. to affirm that one has no acquaintance or connection with someone. b. to forget one’s self, lose sight of one’s self and one’s own interests. Taking the b. from the meaning, we see we need to forget our own interest and seek the interest of God, by the implementation of follow me.

Luke 9:24] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Talking about saving our fleshly life, you will lose your spiritual life or Soul. But to lose your life for his sake, there is nothing greater. We find this in the words Witness or Testimony. G3144 martus pronounced mar’-toos, our English word Martyr and means; 1. those who after his example have proved the strength and genuineness of their faith in Christ by undergoing a violent death. This goes back to, follow me, it is a great privilege to serve the LORD. We are to stand in these end times against Satan with the gospel armor on when we are delivered up to him. Be not afraid, to be absent from this body is to be present with the LORD. Let’s go to 2Corinthians 5 and verse 6 reads.

2Cor.5:6] Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
[7] (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
[8] We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
[9] Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.

Here is the catch. We do labor (our works) in the flesh to be present with the LORD, for the acceptance of our good works. Back to Luke 9 and verse 25 reads.

Luke 9:25] For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
[26] For whosoever shall be ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Father’s, and of the holy angels.

These verses confuse some, here he is speaking of the second advent or seventh trump. Let’s go to 2Timothy 2 and verse 10 reads.

2Tim.2:10] Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
[11] It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
[12] If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

Back to Luke 9 and verse 27 reads.

Luke 9:27] But I tell you of a truth, there be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the kingdom of God.

Now this verse simply means; those that he is talking to, will see him after his resurrection. Not that any would live to see his second advent. Now we come to the Mount of Transfiguration. I have done a work in Topical Teachings called Transfigured. Find time, it is a good read.

Luke 9:28] And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray.

We are on the Mount of Transfiguration now and I will teach what few have ever heard. I pray; Father open eyes and ears to your Word in Jesus’s precious name, Amen. Do not overlook John and James were with him, as this is important.

Luke 9:29] And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.

In Mat.17:2 and Mark 9:2 we find the word Transfigured. Here it is written as Altered, meaning the same as Transfigured and is G3339 metamorphoō. Pronounced met-am-or-fo’-o. And means; to transform (literally or figuratively metamorphose). 1. to change into another form, to transform, to transfigure. a. Christ appearance was changed and was resplendent with divine brightness on the mount of transfiguration. This is the Shekinah Glory of the LORD. We have another description of Jesus in his Shekinah Glory in Revelation 10 and verse 1 reads.

Rev.10:1] And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
[2] And he had in his hand a little book open: and he set his right foot upon the sea, and his left foot on the earth,

One foot on the sea, the other on the earth. This is Kingdom, the King and his dominion. Back to Luke 9 and verse 30 reads.

Luke 9:30] And, behold, there talked with him two men, which were Moses and Elias:

These are the two olive trees spoken of in Zechariah 4, we as his Elect need to know all of it for these end times, and verse 1 reads.

Zec.4:1] And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep,

As God opens the eyes of his Elect in these end times, this is being said for us today.

Zec.4:2] And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all of gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which are upon the top thereof:

Speaking of the bowl, this is the Holy Spirit. The pipes distribute the Holy Spirit to the seven thousand Elect in the end times.

Zec.4:3] And two olive trees by it, one upon the right side of the bowl, and the other upon the left side thereof.

John and James would ask for these positions, not knowing it is already given to Moses and Elijah. But, that these two olive trees that stand by it symbolizes that they intervene between the Holy Spirit and God’s Elect.

Zec.4:4] So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What are these, my lord?
[5] Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
[6] Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.

Zerubbabel means; Sown in Babylon. Born in confusion but he comes out of confusion in the end times. He says by the Holy Spirit, this is what is in the pipes. The Holy Spirit of the LORD flows to his Elect through these two Olive Trees.

Zec.4:7] Who art thou, O great mountain? before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain: and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with shoutings, crying, Grace, grace unto it.
[8] Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,
[9] The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish it; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you.
[10] For who hath despised the day of small things? for they shall rejoice, and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and fro through the whole earth.

Here is that plumb bob that makes the way straight for the Lord at the second advent, the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. These seven eyes are the seven thousand Elect in the end times.

Zec.4:11] Then answered I, and said unto him, What are these two olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the left side thereof?
[12] And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?

Through the two Olive Trees the Truth, the Holy Spirit, are given to his Elect.

Zec.4:13] And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
[14] Then said he, These are the two anointed ones, that stand by the LORD of the whole earth.

Moses and Elijah are called his two anointed ones here in verse 14, called his two olive trees above. It is these two that give God’s Elect the Holy Spirit in the end times. Can you now see why John the Baptist would ask; Art thou he that should come? Or do we look for another. Luke 7:20. He was speaking of the advents. Now, let’s go to Revelation 11 and verse 3 reads.

Rev.11:3] And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

Speaking of the half hour given to Satan in the end times, we see here that the two witnesses will be given about 10 days more. The seven years of tribulation shortened by Jesus in Rev.9:5,10 to five months.

Rev.11:4] These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.

Now we know for sure that we are speaking of Moses and Elijah. Zec.4.

Rev.11:5] And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.

Elijah used these very powers given to him by God in 2Kings 1.

Rev.11:6] These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

Moses was given these powers to influence Pharaoh to bring the children out of Egypt.

Rev.11:7] And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

This word Testimony is G3144, Martyr, Those who after his example have proved the strength and genuineness of their faith in Christ by undergoing a violent death. Remember Luke 9:24.

Rev.11:8] And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

This would be Jerusalem.

Rev.11:9] And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

They will leave them in the streets for three and a half days. This is the only time we know for a fact the end is coming.

Rev.11:10] And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.

We have seen this “Like” in our time, remember when the towers fell, the Kenites (I digress) the Palestinians gave out candy in the streets. Don’t overlook it says these two prophets tormented them.

Rev.11:11] And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
[12] And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.

Moses and Elijah have fulfilled their duties, they died in the flesh and have returned to the Father in heaven.

Rev.11:13] And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.

The seven thousand fallen angels die at the seventh trump and are no more because they did not follow the law, and came to earth to seduce woman instead of being born of woman.

Rev.11:14] The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.

The sixth trump has passed at this moment, and the seventh comes quickly. All this to show you that Moses and Elijah are the two witnesses and the two olive trees that stand by the LORD, and they will come again. Back to Luke 9 and verse 31 reads.

Luke 9:31] Who appeared in glory, and spake of his decease which he should accomplish at Jerusalem.

Notice here it says they spoke of his decease, meaning his crucifixion, which he should accomplish at Jerusalem. Prophecy being fulfilled.

Luke 9:32] But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were awake, they saw his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
[33] And it came to pass, as they departed from him, Peter said unto Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here: and let us make three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias: not knowing what he said.

First of all, Peter recognized Moses and Elijah. Perhaps he knew that these two are the anointed ones who stand by the LORD. Then the fact that he asked if they should make three tabernacles for them makes more sense. Let’s look at the word Tabernacles. G4633 skēnē pronounced skay-nay’. And means; 1. tent, tabernacle, (made of green boughs, or skins or other materials). 2. of that well known movable temple of God after the pattern of which the temple at Jerusalem was built. Peter knew these were the two anointed ones, the two olive trees from Zechariah 4.

Luke 9:34] While he thus spake, there came a cloud, and overshadowed them: and they feared as they entered into the cloud.

This cloud simply hides the vehicle that brings the LORD into this dimension. When Jesus is taken up in Acts 1:9, he is received this way back into heaven. Ezekiel describes these vehicles in Ezekiel chapter1. And explains it as well as anyone else could, giving he never saw any technology that could fly.

Luke 9:35] And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

At this moment God opened the ears of the three. Peter would speak of this moment in 2Peter 1 and verse 16 reads.

2Pet.1:16] For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
[17] For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
[18] And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.

Peter just recounted what was said in Luke 9:35, but Peter continues with some interesting information.

2Pet.1:19] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

And their hearts shall return to their fathers.

2Pet.1:20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
[21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Always search for God’s interpretation. Back to Luke 9 and verse 36 reads.

Luke 9:36] And when the voice was past, Jesus was found alone. And they kept it close, and told no man in those days any of those things which they had seen.

When the LORD speaks to you, it is an awesome thing, and never to be taken lightly.

Luke 9:37] And it came to pass, that on the next day, when they were come down from the hill, much people met him.
[38] And, behold, a man of the company cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee, look upon my son: for he is mine only child.
[39] And, lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out; and it teareth him that he foameth again, and bruising him hardly departeth from him.
[40] And I besought thy disciples to cast him out; and they could not.

In Matthew 17:15 we find this spirit is lunatic, Satan himself. Lunatic G4583 from G4582. And means; to be moonstruck that is crazy. To be moonstruck that is lunatic.

Luke 9:41] And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither.
[42] And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and tare him. And Jesus rebuked the unclean spirit, and healed the child, and delivered him again to his father.

Notice that Jesus is getting a little tired of those without faith. Also, notice that Jesus calls out the Devil, Satan himself.

Luke 9:43] And they were all amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto his disciples,
[44] Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.
[45] But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

These last few verses should open your eyes to the Why his disciples, who God himself opened their ears above in verse 35 when he said; Hear him, and that is because they would interfere with the Plan of God, and prevent the scriptures from coming to pass exactly as it is written. Remember when Peter draws his sword and cuts off the ear of Malchus in John 18:10 and Jesus answered him in verse 11 and it reads.

John 18:11] Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

All that is written shall come to pass exactly as written. Back to Luke 9 and verse 46 reads.

Luke 9:46] Then there arose a reasoning among them, which of them should be greatest.

Did not John and James learn anything from above? They knew that Moses and Elijah sit on the right hand and on the left hand of God. But, watch how Jesus shows us with compassion.

Luke 9:47] And Jesus, perceiving the thought of their heart, took a child, and set him by him,

Don’t overlook Jesus knew their hearts, only God can read your mind. Now, this child will represent all of us as children of God.

Luke 9:48] And said unto them, Whosoever shall receive this child in my name receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me receiveth him that sent me: for he that is least among you all, the same shall be great.

This takes us back to; whosoever serves all, serves the LORD. When we receive the child of God and we plant that seed, the Word of God, we serve the LORD and reap our rewards. Let’s go to John 4 and verse 36 reads.

John 4:35] Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
[36] And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.

Back to Luke 9 and verse 49 reads.

Luke 9:49] And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out devils in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us.
[50] And Jesus said unto him, Forbid him not: for he that is not against us is for us.

The key to verse 49 was this; John said that he followed not US. We do not follow man, but Jesus Christ. This is why we here at The Christ Ministries will not answer any questions that might demean our fellow churches. But that man cast out evil spirits shows he did follow Jesus or he wouldn’t be able to cast out a devil. You can only cast out devils in the name of Jesus Christ.

Luke 9:51] And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem,

As it is written in Zechariah 12 and verse 10 reads.

Zec.12:10] And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

And in Psalms 22 and verse 16 reads.

Psa.22:16] For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

All prophecies shall come to pass, this is why their eyes were shut. Back to Luke 9 and verse 52 reads.

Luke 9:52] And sent messengers before his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the Samaritans, to make ready for him.
[53] And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.

Because Jesus had set his face to go to Jerusalem, of course they wouldn’t receive him.

Luke 9:54] And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?

You can find this in 2Kings 1:10-12.

Luke 9:55] But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.
[56] For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

For this advent Jesus came as Savior and not to destroy. Satan is called the destroyer, Apollyon in the Greek and Abaddon in the Hebrew.

Luke 9:57] And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

In Mat.8:19 we find this man was a certain scribe. We also know he is a Kenite as indicated by the next verse.

Luke 9:58] And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

The key word is Foxes, foxes represent the Kenites as we learn in the book Song of Solomon. They knock off the blossoms that represent God’s children. Let’s go to Song of Solomon 2 and verse 15 reads.

SOS 2:15] Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.

Now let’s go to Lamentations 5 and verse 18 reads.

Lam.5:18] Because of the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it.

And in Ezekiel 13 and verse 4 reads.

Eze.13:4] O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.
[5] Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.

The false prophets (false teachers) in these end times are Kenites also, as said here with; To stand in the battle in the Day of the LORD. Back to Luke 9 and verse 59 reads.

Luke 9:59] And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
[60] Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

This man’s father wasn’t dead yet, but in the slow process of dying. Jesus told him let those that don’t follow me, which are spiritually dead, bury him, and follow me. It does not say whether or not he followed, but Jesus did tell him to go and preach the kingdom of God, he must have been a disciple.

Luke 9:61] And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
[62] And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

This man expected a party to be thrown in his name, Jesus didn’t even want him to follow, and said he wasn’t fit for the kingdom of God. I hope you caught that. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
