The book of Jude is written by the half-brother of Jesus. Judas G2455, Ioudas pronounced ee-oo-das, Judah or Judas means; He shall be praised. Let’s go to Mat.13 and verse 55 reads.
Mat.13:55] Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
Now that we have established that Jude was the half-brother of Jesus, we can see that this book of Jude brings more of an importance to this study. This is a very in-depth study and covers so much that we as God’s elect must know. With that, Jude and verse 1 reads.
Jude 1:1] Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
James also half-brother to Jesus, sanctified by the Father, and preserved in his Son Jesus Christ and called. This is written to God’s Elect. Have you ever wondered why you knew there was more to God’s word than you had been taught up until now. If so, then this is written for your ears.
Jude 1:2] Mercy unto you, and peace, and love, be multiplied.
Peter acknowledged this same preface in 1Pet.1:2 and it reads.
1Pet.1:2] Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
Just thought I would show that these deep meanings are specifically written for God’s Elect. Back to Jude and verse 3 reads.
Jude 1:3] Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Let’s look at this word Saints. G40 Hagios in the Greek and means; most holy thing, a saint. If you are in God’s word, then Jesus and the Father are in you, you become holy with them. You become, and I quote from the Strongs’, physically pure and morally blameless. Now Jude gets deep, let’s keep up with him.
Jude 1:4] For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
He is speaking of the fallen angels here. H5307 in your Strongs’. The Napheliams. Those who chose not to be born of woman, but to seduce woman. This broke God’s law concerning that all would come through the womb.
Jude 1:5] I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
Because of unbelief a whole generation died in the wilderness, Caleb and Joshua being the only exceptions.
Jude 1:6] And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
Those fallen angels that denied the law of God will be the 7,000 that die at the seventh trump. Rev.11:13.
Jude 1:7] Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
This makes it very clear here, that homosexuality is an abomination to the LORD. There will be none in heaven, Repent. Notice that there is vengeance from the LORD against it. Heb.12:29. Our Lord is a consuming fire.
Jude 1:8] Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
Written in 2Pet.2 and verse 9 reads.
2Pet.2:9] The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:
Notice there is a separation of just and unjust here.
2Pet.2:10] But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
So, Peter was speaking of those who specifically despised righteous government, not evil governments. The same can be said for Jude. Back to Jude and verse 9 reads.
Jude 1:9] Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.
Here is a good example for us in these end times, do not argue with Satan. Even Michael wouldn’t, but just said “The Lord rebuke thee”. Our example for us is that we will be delivered up to him and stand (Not flyaway) before him for a testimony against him. Mark 13:9. But what of this argument between Satan and Michael for the body of Moses. Moses was transfigured and never saw death just like Elijah. Both of which were on the mount of transfiguration with Jesus. A sign that both would be the two witnesses in these end times.
Jude 1:10] But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.
[11] Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
Cain was the first murderer and his offspring are called Kenites. Balaam was in a hurry for the money. And Core defied Moses and died with many others that followed him.
Jude 1:12] These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
These are the false teachers in our churches today.
Jude 1:13] Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
In other words, they destroy themselves. This was also spoken by Peter in 2Pet.2:11-17.
Jude 1:14] And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
Written here that Enoch was a prophet. What was Enoch teaching? He was teaching them not to mix with the fallen angels. Only Noah and his wife, his three sons and their wives did not mix, finding favor in God’s eyes. God flooded the earth killing all that were corrupted. The Nephilims, H5303; Giants from Gen.6.
Jude 1:15] To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
Jesus said in Mark 13 when asked how will it be in the end times, his first warning was “don’t be deceived”. But let’s go to verses 20-23 and it reads.
Mark 13:20] And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.
The Lord has shortened the tribulation from 7 yrs. to 5 months. Rev.9:4-5.
Mark 13:21] And then if any man shall say to you, Lo, here is Christ; or, lo, he is there; believe him not:
[22] For false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall shew signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.
[23] But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.
Praise the LORD for he has foretold us all things, the question is, have you read? Back to Jude and verse 16 reads.
Jude 1:16] These are murmurers, complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great swelling words, having men’s persons in admiration because of advantage.
Also written in 2Peter 2 and verse 18 reads.
2Pet.2:18] For when they speak great swelling words of vanity, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through much wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them who live in error.
I’ll be bold enough to say that IF you are in God’s word then you will escape with the truth. Back to Jude and verse 17 reads.
Jude 1:17] But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
We find them in Mat.24, Mark 13, Luke 21.
Jude 1:18] How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
[19] These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
Jude is saying that those he was talking about are those in the last days. Today we need to know who these are. They are those who deny that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, these are the antichrist in the world today.
Jude 1:20] But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
[21] Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
Meaning, stay in the Word, believe Jesus is the Living Word, and have eternal life.
Jude 1:22] And of some have compassion, making a difference:
Compassion is a trademark of God’s elect. Jude is saying to show compassion to some, this will make a difference in their salvation.
Jude 1:23] And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.
Hate the garment spotted with sin not the sinner. Fear is reverence of the LORD. Again, making a difference in their salvation by bringing them to the Lord. Let’s go to Amos 4:11 and it reads.
Amos 4:11] I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
Return to the LORD and he will forgive our sins. This is how we bring others to him and make a difference in their salvation. Back to Jude and verse 24 reads.
Jude 1:24] Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,
[25] To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.
Of course he is speaking of Jesus, only by him can we stand before the LORD. His blood on the cross cloaks our sins so that we may stand faultless and without blame before God, and this brings exceeding joy to him. What a wonderful book by Jude, full of an in-depth insight for God’s elect. I hope you’ve enjoyed it as much as I’ve had bringing it to you. Let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
