In today’s study our titles are; Verses 1-14 Jesus is the way to the Father. Verses 15-31 The promise of the Holy Spirit. Today we will learn the Trinity. John 14 and verse 1 reads.

John 14:1] Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

For whomsoever believes on me will have everlasting life. John 3:16. This everlasting means from the beginning of the first earth age through eternity.

John 14:2] In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

Let’s look at this word; Mansions. G3438 monē pronounced mon-ay’ and means; A staying that is residence. 1. a staying, abiding, dwelling, abode. 2. to make an (one’s) abode. 3. metaph. of the God the Holy Spirit indwelling believers. The God and the Holy Spirit are One, add Jesus Christ the Son of God and we get the Trinity or full Godhead. The three are One.

John 14:3] And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Upon our death and resurrection, we too shall be with the Father. But if not in Christ, then we are on the other side of the gulf. Luke 16. This answers John 13:37 and verse 36 reads.

John 13:36] Simon Peter said unto him, Lord, whither goest thou? Jesus answered him, Whither I go, thou canst not follow me now; but thou shalt follow me afterwards.
[37] Peter said unto him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thy sake.

Peter would be stubborn, and suffer from his hardheadedness as an example for God’s Elect in these end times. The cock would crow after Peter denied Jesus three times. Back to John 14 and verse 4 reads.

John 14:4] And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

What is this word; Way? It is his Word, his Law. And we will find that God’s intentions from the beginning was for all, not just Israel to come to him. Let’s go to 2Chronicles 6 and verse 30 reads.

2Chron.6:30] Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
[31] That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
[32] Moreover concerning the stranger, which is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name’s sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm; if they come and pray in this house;

Those outstretched saving arms of Jesus Christ. His namesake are Christians.

2Chron.6:33] Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calleth to thee for; that all people of the earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.

Now, let’s go to Psalms 145 and verse 17 reads.

Psa.145:17] The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

Back to John 14 and verse 5 reads.

John 14:5] Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
[6] Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Jesus is the Living Word, the Word of God, by his Word we come to him. Let’s go to 1Timothy 2 and verse 3 reads.

1Tim.2:3] For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
[4] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
[5] For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
[6] Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

God’s Elect will give their testimony in due season. Back to John 14 and verse 7 reads.

John 14:7] If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Jesus spoke these words to the Kenites in John 8 and verse 19 reads.

John 8:19] Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also.

Philip should have known this, back to John 14 and verse 8 reads.

John 14:8] Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

If you have seen me, you have seen the Father. Emmanuel, God with us. John 1:1 and 1:14. The Word was with God and the Word was God, and the Word became flesh and walked among us.

John 14:9] Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father?

Chapter 14 teaches us that God and Jesus are one. And wherever you have the two you have the Holy Spirit. Now, we can understand that when Jesus is in us, so is the Father. And comfort ourselves that the Holy Spirit dwells within us also.

John 14:10] Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Speaking of the miracles Jesus has done. This word dwelleth is Menos G3306 and is the primary verb to Mones G3438.

John 14:11] Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
[12] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Jesus used his Holy name I Am. Here we have the faith of the mustard seed. Do you believe, can God use you in these end times? Those who did not see the miracles and still believe on the Son are a greater gift to the Father and he will reward you accordingly. What does this mean; greater than the things Jesus did? Look at today’s technology, with a push of a button, God’s Word can be taught around the world.

John 14:13] And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
[14] If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

We always pray in his name, Jesus Christ, because it gives us credentials that we believe in the Son of God. Let’s go to James 1 and verse 5 reads.

James 1:5] If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
[6] But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

And 1John 3 and verse 22 reads.

1John 3:22] And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
[23] And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

This is why we always begin our studies with: Open our eyes and ears to your Word in Jesus’s precious name. Back to John 14 and verse 15 reads.

John 14:15] If ye love me, keep my commandments.

This is his Ways. His commandments are written in the Word. If you haven’t read his Word, then how can you keep his commandments?

John 14:16] And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
[17] Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

This is our Comfort. The Holy Spirit that dwells within us. It is the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit that makes up the Comforter. It was given to the world on Pentecost Day, Acts 2.

John 14:18] I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
[19] Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

This is the promise of resurrection. Pay attention, what is said next is very important.

John 14:20] At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
[21] He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

What this is saying is that both the Father, and the Son dwell (G3438) within us. And if they dwell within us, then all those that have passed away that are with the Father, are also within us. Let this comfort you and those that you love with this scripture. Don’t overlook the word Manifest, it means; to make known.

John 14:22] Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
[23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

Keeping his commandments, very important to be a doer of his word. This word Abode is the same as dwell. Let’s go to 2Corinthians 6 and verse 16 reads.

2Cor.6:16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
[17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Back to John 14 and verse 24 reads.

John 14:24] He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
[25] These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

Let’s go to John 1 and verse 14 reads.

John 1:14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Back to John 14 and verse 26 reads.

John 14:26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Holy Spirit will help bring up recall of the Word of God when we ask it of him.

John 14:27] Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Let’s go to Colossians 3 and verse 15 reads.

Col.3:15] And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
[16] Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
[17] And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Why we always end our prayers with; In Jesus’s precious name. Back to John 14 and verse 28 reads.

John 14:28] Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

The Spirit is always greater than the flesh.

John 14:29] And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

Speaking of his death and resurrection. Let’s go to Mark 10 and verse 33 reads.

Mark 10:33] Saying, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn him to death, and shall deliver him to the Gentiles:
[34] And they shall mock him, and shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.

Back to John 14 and verse 30 reads.

John 14:30] Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

The prince of this world is Satan. This is what Jesus was talking about in John 9 and verse 4 reads.

John 9:4] I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
[5] As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

Now let’s go to Genesis 1 and verse 3 reads.

Gen.1:3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
[4] And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Dividing Salvation from darkness.

Gen.1:5] And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Jesus is the Light or Day and Satan is the darkness or Night. Back to John 14 and verse 31 reads.

John 14:31] But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

Let’s go to Philippians 2 and verse 5 reads.

Phi.2:5] Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

Let the mind of Jesus Christ be within you, the Word of God, let it dwell within you.

Phi.2:6] Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
[7] But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
[8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

One of the best chapters in God’s Word, showing us that God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son of God and the Holy Spirit the Comforter are all One. But, most important, that they dwell within us if we are in the Word. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
