James 4 and verse 1 reads.

James 4:1] From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

Not only against other countries, but within your own churches.

James 4:2] Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

You did not pray to the Father, and ask for his will, you asked not for peace. Let’s go to 1John 3:15 and it reads.

1John 3:15] Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Back to James and verse 3 reads.

James 4:3] Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.
[4] Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

Adulterers is Idolatry. Let’s go back to 1John 2:15-17 and it reads.

1John 2:15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
[17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

To love this world is to hate the Father. Makes sense, look around today. Back to James 4 and verse 5 reads.

James 4:5] Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy?

Spoken in Gen.6:5 and it reads.

Gen.6:5] And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
[6] And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

No, it was not spoken in vain, this was when the fallen angels had come to earth to seduce women instead of coming through woman. Back to James and verse 6 reads.

James 4:6] But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.

Let’s first go to Isa.54:7 and it reads.

Isa.54:7] For a small moment have I forsaken thee; but with great mercies will I gather thee.

Mercies is love. Now, Jesus said it best in Mat.23:12 and it reads.

Mat.23:12] And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

Humble ourselves to the Lord and he will love you, and bless you. But pride goes before the fall. Back to James and verse 7 reads.

James 4:7] Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
[8] Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

Jesus gave us power over all evil, let’s go to Luke 10:19-20 and it reads.

Luke 10:19] Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
[20] Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Now let’s see what happens when you don’t use it. Back to James and verse 9 reads.

James 4:9] Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.
[10] Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

The differences between having the Lord in humbleness and not having the Lord because of pride.

James 4:11] Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
[12] There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?

Knowing and keeping the commandments then doing them. This is being humble before God, but no this, Jesus only is the lawgiver.

James 4:13] Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

Can you make plans that don’t have the will of God, and be sure they will happen?

James 4:14] Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.
[15] For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.

A very important thing to pray for, God’s will.

James 4:16] But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.
[17] Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Taught by Paul in 1Cor.5:6-7, and it reads.

1Cor.5:6] Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?

Leaven is sin.

1Cor.5:7] Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

We become sinless with repentance and thus a new person. And notice that Christ is our Passover and not our Ishtar (Easter). Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
