In chapter 7 today verses 1-9 we have Isaiah’s message to king Ahaz, and verses 10-25 being the coming of the Assyrian invasion. Verse 1 reads.

Isa.7:1] And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.

You can find this in 2K.16:5. King Ahaz reigned from 735 B.C. to 715 B.C. giving us another date here with Isaiah. Five years after chapter 6. Now we have the ten tribes of Israel going against their brother Judah, civil war is never a good thing. King Ahaz, being the grandson of king Uzziah, was one of the most wicked kings of Judah. We should take away from today’s lesson that Isaiah is a prophet, and what is prophesied is an example for us today in these end times.

Isa.7:2] And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.

You might be wondering how did the twelve tribes split. Let’s take a minute and go to 1K.11 and pick it up with verse 26 and it reads.

1K.11:26] And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.
[27] And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.
[28] And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

The house of Joseph are the two tribes of Ephriam and Manasseh. Ephriam being the largest of the ten tribes is often referred to when speaking of all ten tribes.

1K.11:29] And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:
[30] And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:
[31] And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:

This is done by the LORD himself. And here is the reason, let’s pay close attention.

1K.11:32] (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
[33] Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.

This goddess Ashtoreth has another name you might know, it is Ishtar. Ishtar is where we get our word easter from, a pagan goddess. Let’s remember the first commandment from God. Exo.20:3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me. This great sin of worshipping easter was the reason for the split of Israel. This is why here at thechristministries.org we will never celebrate easter, only the Passover as the LORD has commanded us to do. Back to 1K.11 and verse 34 continues.

1K.11:34] Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant’s sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:
[35] But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

After king Solomon died then they split, prepared by God beforehand. Back to Isa.7 and verse 3 reads.

Isa.7:3] Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;

Remember Isaiah is a prophet, his son’s name Shearjashub translates to; A remnant shall return. H7610. Fuller’s field means; where soap is made. What can wash away our sins? But, let’s not overlook that it says a remnant shall return. A promise from the LORD to us in these end times.

Isa.7:4] And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah.

We can liken the king of Syria to the antichrist. They become confederate with the ten tribes of Israel. As we see in the world today, Europe has fallen away from Jerusalem, they have sided with the Palestinians in the war with Gaza. This is not political, it is biblical. These prophecies have come to pass right before our eyes.

Isa.7:5] Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, saying,

They are plotting evil against Judah.

Isa.7:6] Let us go up against Judah, and vex it, and let us make a breach therein for us, and set a king in the midst of it, even the son of Tabeal:

Funny how Tabeal means; God is good. I want to go to Jer.3 and verse 8 reads.

Jer.3:8] And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

God divorce Israel and Judah because of Idolatry. So, we see here that both Israel and Judah have left the LORD and this punishment for both is inevitable. Back to Isa.7 and verse 7 reads.

Isa.7:7] Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.
[8] For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within threescore and five years shall Ephraim be broken, that it be not a people.

They want to set up a kingdom in Judah, only God sets up kingdoms. God will not let this happen. Israel will go into captivity to Assyria 200 years before Judah goes into captivity to Babylon. Both are examples for the antichrist coming at the sixth trump.

Isa.7:9] And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.

King Jeroboam, being the king of the ten tribes, made two golden calves. He placed one in Bethel (Samaria) and the other in Dan to the North. We find this in 1K.12:25-31.

Isa.7:10] Moreover the LORD spake again unto Ahaz, saying,
[11] Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.
[12] But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.

King Ahaz was very smart here, never tempt the LORD, even when he offers. For we put our trust in the Lord. Jesus taught us in Mat.12, let’s pick it up with verse 38 and it reads.

Mat.12:38] Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.
[39] But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

And that prophecy would be himself in the tomb for 3 days and a half. Back to Isa.7 and verse 13 reads.

Isa.13] And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Will you trouble God also? Never forget this next verse.

Isa.7:14] Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Immanuel means; God with us, the prophecy of Jesus Christ is right here in the Old Testament. Let’s go to Mat.1, picking it up with verse 19 and it reads.

Mat.1:19] Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
[20] But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
[21] And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

Jesus means; Yah’s Savior.

Mat.1:22] Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
[23] Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Of course, this prophet is Isaiah. I love how Matthew translated Emmanuel for us to “God with us”. Back to Isa.7 and verse 15 reads.

Isa.7:15] Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.

Looking ahead to verse 22 we see here he is talking about observing the health laws.

Isa.7:16] For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

Saying that before the Christ shall come both Israel and Judah shall go into captivity, and they do.

Isa.7:17] The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.

The kings of Assyria and Israel departed from Judah without success. Judah did defend herself valiantly.

Isa.7:18] And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall hiss for the fly that is in the uttermost part of the rivers of Egypt, and for the bee that is in the land of Assyria.

It shall come to pass in the end times, that this should be our example.

Isa.7:19] And they shall come, and shall rest all of them in the desolate valleys, and in the holes of the rocks, and upon all thorns, and upon all bushes.

These would be the locust army of the end times. This happens when God’s children are deceived and they worship the antichrist thinking he is the true Christ at the sixth trump.

Isa.7:20] In the same day shall the Lord shave with a rasor that is hired, namely, by them beyond the river, by the king of Assyria, the head, and the hair of the feet: and it shall also consume the beard.

Taxes and inflation will go up. We need to remember we are led by children in these end times. Now, this is talking about the end times just listen to God’s word here.

Isa.7:21] And it shall come to pass in that day, that a man shall nourish a young cow, and two sheep;

They won’t have much.

Isa.7:22] And it shall come to pass, for the abundance of milk that they shall give he shall eat butter: for butter and honey shall every one eat that is left in the land.

But the Lord will not forsake us, he will provide.

Isa.7:23] And it shall come to pass in that day, that every place shall be, where there were a thousand vines at a thousand silverlings, it shall even be for briers and thorns.

But the world will whore after the antichrist and God will cause the famine in the land. Not a famine for bread or water, but for hearing the word of the LORD. Amos 8:11.

Isa.7:24] With arrows and with bows shall men come thither; because all the land shall become briers and thorns.

In Leviticus 26 we have blessings and cursings. God will curse them that fall away from him, let’s pick it up with verse 23 and it reads.

Lev.26:23] And if ye will not be reformed by me by these things, but will walk contrary unto me;
[24] Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
[25] And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will send the pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.

Your enemies will overtake you.

Lev.26:26] And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.

Then famine will be sent into your lands. Remember Amos 8:11, the famine is not for bread but for hearing the word of the LORD. Back to Isa.7 and verse 25 reads.

Isa.7:25] And on all hills that shall be digged with the mattock, there shall not come thither the fear of briers and thorns: but it shall be for the sending forth of oxen, and for the treading of lesser cattle.

Check out this word Mattock, it is a hoe. But if you take it further by its root you find H5737 and it means; lacking. Those who are lacking in faith will not have the comfort of the LORD in that day. But those that love the LORD will have that Comforter. These lesser cattle are sheep, Jesus said “Feed my sheep”. The answer to all God’s reasoning is Read My Word. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
