In this last chapter of Isaiah it is titled Zion’s future hope. Understanding how prophecy works is the most important tool we can have in understanding God’s Word. Isaiah 66 and verse 1 reads.

Isa.66:1] Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?

Man has a habit of thinking he can build a house for the LORD, with the whole earth as his footstool it is impossible.

Isa.66:2] For all those things hath mine hand made, and those things have been, saith the LORD: but to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.

The two words “have been” should have been translated “Exist”, and should read; And those things exist. The LORD saying he has created everything, there is nothing that man can or could create. Let’s go to Acts 7 and verse 47 reads.

Acts 7:47] But Solomon built him an house.
[48] Howbeit the most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet,
[49] Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? saith the Lord: or what is the place of my rest?
[50] Hath not my hand made all these things?

Stephen would go on after this to say “But didn’t you kill all the prophets” then they would stone him. Now, let’s go to Matthew 5, we have Jesus speaking and verse 33 reads.

Mat.5:33] Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:
[34] But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:
[35] Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

Jesus is saying “Don’t swear by me either”, he being the King. Verse 2 also stated “But to this man will I look, even to him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at my word.” For this let’s go to the teachings of Paul in 1Cor.2 and verse 3 reads.

1Cor.2:3] And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
[4] And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
[5] That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

Back to Isa.66 and verse 3 reads.

Isa.66:3] He that killeth an ox is as if he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, as if he cut off a dog’s neck; he that offereth an oblation, as if he offered swine’s blood; he that burneth incense, as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations.

Speaking of false teachers and false prophets here, traditions of men and not of God. Let’s go to Mic.6 and verse 7 reads.

Mic.6:7] Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
[8] He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?

And I want you to always remember Hosea 6 and verse 6 reads.

Hos.6:6] For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.

Our love and not sacrifice, and for us to have the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings. Back to Isa.66 and verse 4 reads.

Isa.66:4] I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.

History has a habit of repeating itself, this is how it ends also. Let’s go to 2Thes.2 and pick it up after Satan is here claiming to be Christ, now, we’re talking about God’s children who are deceived. And verse 9 reads.

2Thess.2:9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

They chose not to read or believe in the Word of God.

2Thess.2:11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
[13] But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
[14] Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ, The Living Word. Let’s go to Proverbs 1 and verse 25 reads.

Prov.1:25] But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof:

You wouldn’t read my Words that I have given you.

Prov.1:26] I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
[27] When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.

This word desolation is H7722 and means; devastation, ruin. And the word destruction is H343 and it means; burden (of the righteous) and calamity (of nation) and disaster (of wicked) and day of calamity.

Prov.1:28] Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

It’s too late, the seventh trump has sounded.

Prov.1:29] For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
[30] They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof.
[31] Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.

They hate knowledge of the LORD. They despised the Father when they should have been seeking the Father. Back to Isa.66 and verse 5 reads.

Isa.66:5] Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name’s sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.

Because you call yourself Christian, for his name’s sake, they hated you. Jesus told us in John 15 and verse 18 reads.

John 15:18] If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.
[19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

Now let’s go to 2 Thess.1 and verse 10 reads.

2Thess.1:10] When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Notice it said “In that day”, meaning in the Day of the LORD. Now, let’s go to Titus 2 and verse 12 reads.

Titus 2:12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
[13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
[14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
[15] These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Never let them get under your skin, simply rebuke them in the name of  Jesus Christ. Back to Isa.66 and verse 6 reads.

Isa.66:6] A voice of noise from the city, a voice from the temple, a voice of the LORD that rendereth recompence to his enemies.

When his feet touch the mount on the seventh trump, his enemies shall feel his wrath.

Isa.66:7] Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.

Revelation 12, from the first earth age to the seventh trump.

Isa.66:8] Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.

And unless you have read his Word, you would not understand. Genesis through Revelation. He is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.

Isa.66:9] Shall I bring to the birth, and not cause to bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to bring forth, and shut the womb? saith thy God.

Will one say “No way will this happen”, and I will say, you can’t stop this from happening. For it is written and what is written will happen exactly as it is written.

Isa.66:10] Rejoice ye with Jerusalem, and be glad with her, all ye that love her: rejoice for joy with her, all ye that mourn for her:

All who are called by his name, rejoice with her. Remember we are speaking of his Word and verse 11 reads.

Isa.66:11] That ye may suck, and be satisfied with the breasts of her consolations; that ye may milk out, and be delighted with the abundance of her glory.

This word Consolations is H8575 tanchûwm pronounced tan-khoom’ and means; compassion, solace. That you may feed on the Word of God when everyone else suffers the famine. Amos.8:11. The next word is abundance and should have been translated Brightness, the brightness of his glory, the brightness is that Shechinah Glory, the LORD dwells there.

Isa.66:12] For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will extend peace to her like a river, and the glory of the Gentiles like a flowing stream: then shall ye suck, ye shall be borne upon her sides, and be dandled upon her knees.
[13] As one whom his mother comforteth, so will I comfort you; and ye shall be comforted in Jerusalem.

Let’s go to 2Cor.1 and verse 3 reads.

2Cor.1:3] Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
[4] Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
[5] For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also aboundeth by Christ.

Here we have that word Consolation again, it is G3874 and has the same meaning in Greek as it did in Hebrew. It means; comfort, admonition, solace.

2Cor.1:6] And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is effectual in the enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or whether we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

Consolation and Salvation gives us Comfort, Jesus is our Comforter and Savior. This is why we rejoice, the Father and the Son dwell within us through our knowledge of his Word. Back to Isa.66 and verse 14 reads.

Isa.66:14] And when ye see this, your heart shall rejoice, and your bones shall flourish like an herb: and the hand of the LORD shall be known toward his servants, and his indignation toward his enemies.

Everyone gets what they deserve, the good, the bad and the ugly.

Isa.66:15] For, behold, the LORD will come with fire, and with his chariots like a whirlwind, to render his anger with fury, and his rebuke with flames of fire.

Heb.12:29 For our God is a consuming fire. And that cup of wrath will be poured out on the wicked. We see here that the second earth age goes out by fire. Let’s go back to Isaiah chapter 9 and verse 5 reads.

Isa.9:5] For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.
[6] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

And 2 Thessalonians 1 and verse 6 reads.

2Thess.1:6] Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;
[7] And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

He returns with an army, a great army.

2Thess.1:8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

See how it is the Word of God that could have saved them. Jesus is The Word of God.

2Thess.1:9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

All wicked shall perish that knew not God’s Word. Back to Isa.66 and verse 16 reads.

Isa.66:16] For by fire and by his sword will the LORD plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.

Here we have by fire and by his sword, the Sword of the LORD is the Word of God. Rev.1:16. Let’s go back to Isa.27 and verse 1 reads.

Isa.27:1] In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

In the Day of the LORD all this will happen, that dragon, the old serpent, Satan. Rev.12:9 gives us a lot of his names. Back to Isa.66 and verse 17 reads.

Isa.66:17] They that sanctify themselves, and purify themselves in the gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating swine’s flesh, and the abomination, and the mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.

Jesus told us to learn the parable of the Fig Tree. Behind is hidden, fig tree means; hidden. Don’t eat food that God sees as an abomination. And never think that you can save yourself, Christ only can save.

Isa.66:18] For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.

All will stand before the LORD. He already knows your heart and your sins. Remember when you repent, your sins remain no more, they do not exist. Let’s go to Jeremiah 3 and verse 17 reads.

Jer.3:17] At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart.

And in Hebrews 4 and verse 12 reads.

Heb.4:12] For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
[13] Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

The LORD God is the only one who can read your minds. Take comfort that Satan cannot. Back to Isa.66 and verse 19 reads.

Isa.66:19] And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, to the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles.

His Elect shall be sent out to teach to those who knew not the LORD. When Jesus was being circumcised the high priest prophesied to Joseph and Mary this in Luke 2 and verse 34 reads.

Luke 2:34] And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;
[35] (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

Mary would have sorrow because of the crucifixion, but because of this many would have salvation. Let’s go to Malachi 1 and verse 11 reads.

Mal.1:11] For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

And in Mark 13, verse 26 reads.

Mark 13:26] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.

Back to Isa.66 and verse 20 reads.

Isa.66:20] And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.

This word swift beasts is interesting. It is H3753 karkârâh pronounced kar-kaw-raw’. And comes from H3769 kârar pronounced kaw-rar’. This is the Wheel from Ezekiel, those vehicles that brought the throne of God to earth. These vehicles will bring all of God’s children to him in New Jerusalem. Let’s go to Romans 15 and verse 15 reads.

Rom.15:15] Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
[16] That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

Also, it is written in Rev.20 that his Elect shall teach as priest with Christ in the millennium. Let’s go to Rev.20 and verse 4 reads.

Rev.20:4] And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
[5] But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.
[6] Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

And in Mark 13 verse 26 reads.

Mark 13:26] And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
[27] And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

At the seventh trump it will be over for some, but for many Salvation has come to those who knew not the LORD and were not evil. The Gentiles shall also be blessed by God, but the wicked shall burn with fire. Back to Isa.66 and verse 21 reads.

Isa.66:21] And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD.

Rev.20:4-6 comes to pass.

Isa.66:22] For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.

Here we have heavens plural and the earth singular, why? because Jesus Christ is on earth and the Father is in heaven. Wherever the LORD is, there is heaven. Another place in God’s Word that we see proof of three earth and heaven ages. When Christ became flesh, being Emmanuel God with us, heaven became plural. At his crucifixion he left us that Comforter, and both the Father and the Son dwell within us. Thus, heavens is plural. Then, at the millennium God the Son comes down and is with us, this also being heavens plural, because the Father is still in heaven. Why is the Father and the Son separate at this time? because the Son is for Salvation and the Father is for Judgment. This being the millennium at this point, and afterward the great white throne judgment when there will be only one heaven and one earth, Eternity. Let’s first go to  2Pet.3 and verse 12 reads.

2Pet.3:12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

This word Elements is Rudiments meaning all evil.

2Pet.3:13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Now let’s go to Rev.21 and verse 1 reads.

Rev.21:1] And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

The second earth age is over, after the millennium, then and only then will we go into eternity. The third and final of the three earth and heaven ages. The fact that it says “And there was no more sea” simply means that the earth goes back as he originally created it. Only one land mass. It cannot mean people (the waters are the peoples Rev.17:15) because all flesh was done away with at the seventh trump, and that will be at the beginning of the millennium. And because of that fact, no more sea means there are no seas between the land. Back to Isa.66 and verse 23 reads.

Isa.66:23] And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

Let’s go to Zechariah 14 and verse 15 reads.

Zech.14:15] And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.

Remember Isa.66:20.

Zech.14:16] And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.

The Gentiles being brought into the congregation of the LORD. Let’s go to Psa.65 and verse 2 reads.

Psa.65:2] O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

Back to Isa.66 and verse 24 reads.

Isa.66:24] And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhorring unto all flesh.

First let’s go to Matthew 10 and verse 28 reads.

Mat.10:28] And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Now let’s go to Mat.3 and verse 12 reads.

Mat.3:12] Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Now let’s finish this in Mark 9, Jesus is teaching it is better to get rid of one who is in the congregation that is pulling away a child of God from the truth. And he says this in verse 43 and it reads.

Mark 9:43] And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
[44] Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

We are talking here about having false teachers and those who corrupt your church from within the congregation, kick them out.

Mark 9:45] And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:
[46] Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
[47] And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:
[48] Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

Hell (Grave) is described here and it is as everlasting as eternity is. They will never exist again. That finishes the book of Isaiah, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed bringing it to you. Isaiah means; Yah has saved. Jesus Christ being prophesied throughout this great book of Isaiah. Before we go, let’s look at how much the New Testament depends on the prophet Isaiah. Here are some major points from Dr. E.W. Bullinger’s Appx 80.

The eighty-five citations or allusions are distributed as follows :  In Matt. there are nine; Mark, six; Luke, five; John, five; Acts, five; Rom., eighteen (eight from the “former” part, and ten from the “latter”); 1Cor., six; 2Cor., four; Gal., one; Eph., two; Phil., one; 1Thess., one; 2Thess., one; Heb., two; James, one; 1Pet., five; 2Pet., one; Rev., twelve (five from the “former” part, and seven from the “latter”).

In Dr. E.W. Bullinger’s Appx.79 we learned that all of Isaiah was written by him, and that critics, who oppose the Word of God, say that it was written by five people.

Twelve books give six direct quotations.

Eighteen books contain eighty-five allusions to Isaiah.

Only seven books out of twenty-seven have none.

The greater part of the New Testament is concerned with establishing the genuineness and authority of the book of the prophet Isaiah, and its one authorship.  (See Appx.79)

Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
