ISAIAH 59

In today’s study verses 1-19 is titled National corruption, consequent suffering. And verses 20-21 are titled Deliverance will be from the LORD. Isaiah 59 and verse 1 reads.

Isa.59:1] Behold, the LORD’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:

He says listen, this is the cause of the breech, and I am not deaf. Not only does he hear every prayer, but God’s Elects prayers are bottled and kept in heaven. We will get to that in a minute.

Isa.59:2] But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

Because of your sins, you separated yourself from him, not that he separated himself from you. It is very common for man to think God leaves them, on the contrary, God will never leave or forsake his children, but these will not be his children. And we know that there are the sheep and goats, the sheep on his right hand and the goats he separates to his left. Let’s go to Isa.1 and verse 15 reads.

Isa.1:15] And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.
[16] Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

Now let’s go to Revelation 5 and verse 7 reads.

Rev.5:7] And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
[8] And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

Saints are God’s Elect. Let’s now drop down to Rev.8 and verse 3 reads.

Rev.8:3] And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
[4] And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.

Notice that they are on the right hand of God. Back to Isa.59 and verse 3 reads.

Isa.59:3] For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.

This word blood is murder. Your fingers are full of sins and your lies are meant to deceive God’s children from truth, his Word. The perverseness here is talking about his churches being defiled. Let’s go to Eze.7 and verse 22 reads.

Eze.7:22] My face will I turn also from them, and they shall pollute my secret place: for the robbers shall enter into it, and defile it.
[23] Make a chain: for the land is full of bloody crimes, and the city is full of violence.
[24] Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be defiled.

As we will see soon, the churches in the end times will also be defiled. Look around, it has already come to pass. Back to Isa.59 and verse 4 reads.

Isa.59:4] None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
[5] They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

We are speaking here of the churches. Bethel means the house of God, but these have become Beth-aven which means house of emptiness. These eggs are the lies that come out of the Serpent’s mouth. So much here we need to break it down. First let’s go to Hosea 10 and verse 5 reads.

Hos.10:5] The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Beth-aven: for the people thereof shall mourn over it, and the priests thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, because it is departed from it.

The two golden calves that were set up in Bethel and Dan in the very temple of the LORD. This would be the reason they would go into captivity to the king of Assyria, a like for Satan in these end times.

Hos.10:6] It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king Jareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

These counsels are the priests that lied and led them astray into captivity. Now, let’s go to Rev.12 and verse 9 reads.

Rev.12:9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

We have here the names for Satan, notice the Serpent from the garden. Now let’s go to Rev.9 and verse 18 reads.

Rev.9:18] By these three was the third part of men killed, by the fire, and by the smoke, and by the brimstone, which issued out of their mouths.
[19] For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.

We can see here the power comes from their mouths, lies. Let’s back up to verse 5 and read it again.

Isa.59:5] They hatch cockatrice’ eggs, and weave the spider’s web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is crushed breaketh out into a viper.

Those who believe their lies and are deceived will spiritually die. These eggs that are crushed are the Kenites, the serpent’s seed. Back to Isa.59 and verse 6 reads.

Isa.59:6] Their webs shall not become garments, neither shall they cover themselves with their works: their works are works of iniquity, and the act of violence is in their hands.

Notice that these works are said for their garments. Our works are what makes up our white linen or robes in heaven. They are the only thing we can take with us to heaven. Let’s go to Rev.19 and verse 7 reads.

Rev.19:7] Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
[8] And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

Back to Isa.59 and verse 7 reads.

Isa.59:7] Their feet run to evil, and they make hast to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.

Here we have the churches today, they can’t wait to deceive the people, they are wicked.

Isa.59:8] The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.

Let’s go to Psa.125 and verse 5 reads.

Psa.125:5] As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

Now, let’s go to Proverbs 2 and verse 13 reads.

Prov.2:13] Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
[14] Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
[15] Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:
[16] To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger which flattereth with her words;

But we read God’s Word and we understand these wicked have entered into the churches and have corrupted God’s Word with lies and deception. We know that it is written in our gospel armor, let’s go to Ephesians 6 and verse 14 reads.

Eph.6:14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

We also know that judgment begins at the pulpit. Let’s go to 1Peter 4 and verse 17 reads.

1Pet.4:17] For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?

We know the end for them isn’t pretty, back to Isa.59 and verse 9 reads.

Isa.59:9] Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

Speaking of those that teach falsely, darkness consumes them. Let’s go to Jeremiah 8 and verse 13 reads.

Jer.8:13] I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.
[14] Why do we sit still? assemble yourselves, and let us enter into the defenced cities, and let us be silent there: for the LORD our God hath put us to silence, and given us water of gall to drink, because we have sinned against the LORD.
[15] We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!

It is a great sin to deceive the children of God from the pulpits. Back to Isa.59 and verse 10 reads.

Isa.59:10] We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as if we had no eyes: we stumble at noonday as in the night; we are in desolate places as dead men.
[11] We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.

They lie from the pulpit, they have no knowledge of truth, because they do it for filthy lucre. They do it for the money and fame.

Isa.59:12] For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;

They even know they are lying to the congregations. Sin is transgression of the law. 1John 3:4.

Isa.59:13] In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.

Saying here that they know with understanding that they have lied and have deceived others to worship the antichrist. This is what the rapture doctrine brings upon the people. It is evil and should be taught as such.

Isa.59:14] And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

Equity cannot enter? This word equity is H5229 nᵉkôchâh pronounced nek-o-khaw’. It is feminine (think of the marriage to the Lamb). And means; right, righteousness, or uprightness. a. true things (of prophecy). In other words; they cannot have the knowledge of the LORD and his Word in them.

Isa.59:15] Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

For those who do these things knowingly have made themselves a prey for Satan.

Isa.59:16] And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.

Isaiah 7:14 and Matt.1:22-23 came to pass as promised. The Christ was born unto a virgin, and Salvation for the whole world was given to those who will repent. Let’s go to Mark 6 and verse 6 reads.

Mark 6:4] But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
[5] And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
[6] And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

Jesus knew that he was teaching us a really good lesson here for the ones who teach the truth of God’s Word. There are people who don’t understand when a person that they have known from their youth receives the truth from God, and then tries to teach them, they don’t understand that God is the only one who can open the eyes and ears to his Word. Back to Isa.59 and verse 17 reads.

Isa.59:17] For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

Notice these are the defensive weapons from our gospel armor. Eph.6:11-17. Let’s go to 1 Thessalonians 5 and verse 3 reads.

1Thess.5:3] For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
[4] But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
[5] Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

Notice there are two, those of us that are of the Light and those who are of the Darkness.

1Thess.5:6] Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
[7] For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
[8] But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
[9] For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

The LORD loves and takes very good care of his children. But the children of that wicked one will suffer the wrath of God. Back to Isa.59 and verse 18 reads.

Isa.59:18] According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.

They will reap what they sow.

Isa.59:19] So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.

We have the trinity spoken here in the Old Testament. The LORD is the Father. The Spirit is the Holy Spirit. And the standard being Jesus Christ, the Son. But let’s look at what was just said. “When the enemy shall come in like a flood”, Jesus would warn us in Matt.24 that it would be just like in the days of Noah. Mat.24 and verse 37 reads.

Mat.24:37] But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[38] For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
[39] And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Now we just learned above that the dragon’s power was in his mouth. It is a flood of lies that comes out of the dragon’s mouth. Rev.12:15. Also note that the flood of Noah was for five months, the same as the dragon has in the end times. Now for verses 20-21 Deliverance will be from the LORD. Back to Isa.59 and verse 20 reads.

Isa.59:20] And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.

Jesus is our Redeemer, notice the uppercase. Jacob is said for all twelve tribes. Come back to the Father and his Word, for he will Redeem us.

Isa.59:21] As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed’s seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

A promise from God that there will be a second advent, Jesus will return. Let’s go to Rom.11 and verse 26 reads.

Rom.11:26] And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
[27] For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.

From Hebrew to Greek, Zion to Sion and Redeemer to Deliverer. A great promise from God to you and me. Another great study today in Isaiah, let’s go to his throne.
