Today’s study is titled A free offer of mercy to all. Isaiah 55 and verse 1 reads.
Isa.55:1] Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
The Word of God is free, those who thirst or are hungry for the Word of God will be satisfied and full. Jesus would explain this best with the woman at the well. Let’s go to John 4 and verse 13 reads.
John 4:13] Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
[14] But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Let’s drop down to verse 23 and pick up the true meaning of what is being said, and verse 23 reads.
John 4:23] But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
[24] God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
[25] The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
[26] Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
Jesus is that Living Water. Another example for this is in Matthew 13 and verse 44 reads.
Mat.13:44] Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
What we have here is the Word of God, Jesus is the Living Word. God’s Elect will consume his word and be full of the Holy Spirit. Come back to him, consume his word and be free. Back to Isa.55 and verse 2 reads.
Isa.55:2] Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.
It is your soul that reaps the joy and gladness of heart from the LORD. But, let’s keep in mind the famine of the end times. Amos 8 and verse 11 reads.
Amos 8:11] Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
Back to Isa.55 and verse 3 reads.
Isa.55:3] Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.
Let’s go to 2Sam.7 and verse 8 reads.
2Sam.7:8] Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:
[9] And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.
[10] Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,
[11] And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.
[12] And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.
[13] He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
[14] I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:
[15] But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
[16] And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.
Jesus came through the loins of David and he sits on the right hand of God as God and is King of kings and Lord of lords. Let’s go to Acts 13 and verse 33 reads.
Acts 13:33] God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
Psalms 2:7.
Acts 13:34] And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
We just read this in Isaiah 55:3.
Acts 13:35] Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
You can find that in Psalms 16:10, Jesus would not be found in the tomb, he was resurrected and his flesh saw no corruption. Back to Isa.55 and verse 4 reads.
Isa.55:4] Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.
We find this in John 18 and verse 37 reads.
John 18:37] Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
We see here that Jesus is that witness spoken of in Isa.55:4. Let’s go to Rev.1 and verse 5 reads.
Rev.1:5] And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Back to Isa.55 and verse 5 reads.
Isa.55:5] Behold, thou shalt call a nation that thou knowest not, and nations that knew not thee shall run unto thee because of the LORD thy God, and for the Holy One of Israel; for he hath glorified thee.
I believe this is America, after all, we have printed on our money; In God We Trust.
Isa.55:6] Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Fill your oil in your lamps. Let’s go to John 7 and verse 33 reads.
John 7:33] Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
[34] Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
Back to Isa.55 and verse 7 reads.
Isa.55:7] Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
We are speaking here of forgiveness. If we do not forgive our fellow man of their sins against us, then neither will the Father forgive ours. Let’s go to Mat.18 and verse 21 reads.
Mat.18:21] Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
[22] Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
A very hard lesson for many, trust in the LORD. Forgiveness is of the LORD, and he dwells within us. When we can’t forgive others, then where is the LORD. Back to Isa.55 and verse 8 reads.
Isa.55:8] For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
[9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
We cannot understand our Father’s love for ALL of us, not just yourself. God is Spirit, when this clay pot breaks and we are with him in heaven (Ecc.12:6-7) then we will know all things. But his love is with ALL, let’s go to 2Pet.3:9 and it reads.
2Pet.3:9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
Even if the wicked come back to the LORD and repent, they too shall be Saved. Back to Isa.55 and verse 10 reads.
Isa.55:10] For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
We have talked about the famine of the end times, how it is for hearing the Word of the LORD, but the LORD will give us that Living Water. For those who seek him, God’s Elect. This verse should have reminded you of the Parable of the Sower, Mat.13. But, let’s go to the Song of Moses. Due.32 and verse 1 reads.
Due.32:1] Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
[2] My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
[3] Because I will publish the name of the LORD: ascribe ye greatness unto our God.
[4] He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.
Now with the understanding that God has given us his Word in these end times for a reason, let’s go to 2Cor.9 and verse 9 reads.
2Cor.9:9] (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
[10] Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
We just read this in Isa.55:10.
2Cor.9:11] Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
[12] For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
[13] Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
Read the Word of God, learn the Word of God and then teach the Word of God. This is pleasing to the LORD. Back to Isa.55 and verse 11 reads.
Isa.55:11] So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
Showing us here that the Word of God is sent to us. Because you are seeking his Word, he will give it liberally to you. Jesus would tell us in Mat.24 and verse 35 reads.
Mat.24:35] Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
This second earth age will pass away, then we will have eternity without any evil among us. Back to Isa.55 and verse 12 reads.
Isa.55:12] For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
The whole world waits for the coming of the LORD, even nature itself waits. Let’s go to Romans 8 and verse 20 reads.
Rom.8:20] For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
[21] Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
[22] For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
But nature being subject under man in the flesh, this flesh will be put off at the seventh trump. Back to Isa.55 and verse 13 reads.
Isa.55:13] Instead of the thorn shall come up the fir tree, and instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
No more evil among us, all will be safe. Let’s go to Mic.7 and verse 4 reads.
Mic.7:4] The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.
Another great study in the book of Isaiah, let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
