Isaiah 15 can be titled “The oracle concerning Moab”. This chapter is confusing to some, but we just need to look into the names for understanding. Isaiah 15 and verse 1 reads.

Isa.15:1] The burden of Moab. Because in the night Ar of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence; because in the night Kir of Moab is laid waste, and brought to silence;

First Moab is a nation from the seed of Lot who was Abraham’s brother. Lot lived in the land of Sodom and when the LORD destroyed Sodom, he sent two angels to retrieve Lot and his family. Lot’s wife could not turn away from the wickedness thereof, so the LORD turned her to a pillar of salt. Moab was the name of the eldest daughter’s son, who was conceived by her through Lot by deception. Now, a great nation is being laid to waste through deception. Kir means; fortress, and is laid to waste. Ar being the largest of Moab’s cities is also laid to waste. But that we know what is being said here by Isaiah, let’s go to Numbers 21 and verse 28 reads.

Num.21:28] For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed Ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.
[29] Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.
[30] We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
[31] Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
[32] And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.

I wanted you to see for yourself that Isaiah is speaking here of going into the promised land. The captivity of the antichrist is over and her land is laid waste. Now, let’s look at this whole chapter in that way. Isa.15 and verse 2 reads.

Isa.15:2] He is gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to weep: Moab shall howl over Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be baldness, and every beard cut off.

Bajith H1006 mean; house. It was a place in Palestine. Dibon H1769 means; wasted. Because of “the high places” we can place these three places also in Palestine. Nebo H5015 means; Prophet or learning. Though a Babylonian deity, it is used here for the mountain in Moab, which is in Palestine. Are we seeing what Isaiah is saying here? Moab is the land of Palestine. Baldness and beards cut off is the greatest insult at the time.

Isa.15:3] In their streets they shall gird themselves with sackcloth: on the tops of their houses, and in their streets, every one shall howl, weeping abundantly.

Girded with sackcloth for deep sorrow. We shall gird ourselves with the gospel armor and stand against Satan. Notice on the tops of their houses, that is where the watchmen are supposed to be watching, but their weeping, their asleep.

Isa.15:4] And Heshbon shall cry, and Elealeh: their voice shall be heard even unto Jahaz: therefore the armed soldiers of Moab shall cry out; his life shall be grievous unto him.

Heshbon H2809 means; stronghold. Their strong hold is crying. Elealeh H500 means; God is ascending. Meaning the LORD has left them. This place is on the east side of the Jordan, and was occupied by the tribe of Reuben. When the soldiers of Palestine cry out, it shall be grievous to the LORD. Prophecy coming true today, being fulfilled. Keep your eyes on Jerusalem.

Isa.15:5] My heart shall cry out for Moab; his fugitives shall flee unto Zoar, an heifer of three years old: for by the mounting up of Luhith with weeping shall they go it up; for in the way of Horonaim they shall raise up a cry of destruction.

Moab being Palestine, look at his fugitives, they flee but where to? Zoar H6820 means; insignificance. This is a place at the south east end of the Dead Sea. Where Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by God. Now let’s look at Luhith H3872 means; tablets. It is also a place east of the Jordan river. Are we seeing that they are from east of the Jordan river? Should not Jordan take back their children? But I digress, Isa.15 and verse 6 reads.

Isa.15:6] For the waters of Nimrim shall be desolate: for the hay is withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.

Nimrim H5249 means; limpid or pure. They are supposed to be clear waters from a brook or stream on the east side of the Jordan. The Lord is saying here for Moab, they shall become desolate. Nothing left pure, they have become evil. They say they are Jews and are not, but are of the synagogue of Satan. They claim the land today and give Judah a hard time, they are Kenites. Rev.2:9.

Isa.15:7] Therefore the abundance they have gotten, and that which they have laid up, shall they carry away to the brook of the willows.

They rely on the world through propaganda for help against Israel. We are seeing prophecy being fulfilled today, but the LORD is against them.

Isa.15:8] For the cry is gone round about the borders of Moab; the howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the howling thereof unto Beer-elim.

Eglaim H97 and means; a double reservoir. It is a place in Moab with twin ponds. But, let’s keep looking at it this way, nowhere can they flee to for that Living Water. Their desolation is from the hand of God.

Isa.15:9] For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the remnant of the land.

Dimon is H1775 and means; river bed or silence. Let’s go with the river bed, it shall be full of blood. Also, it is a town in Moab which is Palestine, which is on the east side of the Jordan river. The lion of the tribe of Judah shall come against them at the seventh trump. They have become wicked and an abomination to the LORD. A hard chapter, yes, but when we use a Strong’s Concordance, it comes alive and reads well. Jeremiah also has this prophecy in Jer.48 1-40 a longer read but will help understand a little better. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
