In chapter 10 today we have verses 1-4 talking to the false teachers, verses 5-19 Assyria shall be broken, verses 20-23 a remnant to be saved, verses 24-34 the promise of deliverance. Isa.10 and verse 1 reads.

Isa.10:1] Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;

Speaking of false teachers. This reminds me of Psalms 58 and verse 1 reads.

Psa.58:1] Do ye indeed speak righteousness, O congregation? do ye judge uprightly, O ye sons of men?
[2] Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh the violence of your hands in the earth.
[3] The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.
[4] Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;

False prophets and false teachers are of the serpent’s seed which have no ears to hear, they are Kenites. Back to Isaiah 10 and verse 2 reads.

Isa.10:2] To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!

It’s one thing to believe something that is a lie, but notice that they lie so that someone else would believe their lies to their harm. This is evil.

Isa.10:3] And what will ye do in the day of visitation, and in the desolation which shall come from far? to whom will ye flee for help? and where will ye leave your glory?
[4] Without me they shall bow down under the prisoners, and they shall fall under the slain. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.

This prophecy will come to pass over and over, never ending. But look at it for the end times, Isa.24 and verse 21 reads.

Isa.24:21] And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall punish the host of the high ones that are on high, and the kings of the earth upon the earth.
[22] And they shall be gathered together, as prisoners are gathered in the pit, and shall be shut up in the prison, and after many days shall they be visited.

At the seventh trump they shall be ashamed. Back to Isa.10 and we have prophecy concerning Assyria, and verse 5 reads.

Isa.10:5] O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation.

God will use the king of Assyria as he uses the antichrist in the end times to break down the ungodly. God is not a cruel God, let me remind you of the reason Israel and Judah go into captivity. Jer.3 and verse 7 reads.

Jer.3:7] And I said after she had done all these things, Turn thou unto me. But she returned not. And her treacherous sister Judah saw it.
[8] And I saw, when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away, and given her a bill of divorce; yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not, but went and played the harlot also.

The LORD will use Assyria as his rod of iron for correction. Back to Isa.10 and verse 6 reads.

Isa.10;6] I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets.

Remember Isaiah’s son’s name? Mahershalalhashbaz, haste to the spoil and speed to the prey. As we learned in Isa.9:17 his children have fallen away from him, this is called the apostasy in the end times.

Isa.10:7] Howbeit he meaneth not so, neither doth his heart think so; but it is in his heart to destroy and cut off nations not a few.

And here is God’s trademark, when Joseph was sold into captivity by his own brothers out of jealousy into Egypt, it was the LORD’s doing that many be saved. Gen.50 and verse 20 reads.

Gen.50:20] But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

And Micah 4 and verse 11 reads.

Mic.4:11] Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion.
[12] But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.
[13] Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will consecrate their gain unto the LORD, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

Now, let’s see how this pertained to the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Acts 2 and verse 23 reads.

Acts 2:23] Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:

Do not overlook “Foreknowledge of God”.

Acts 2:24] Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

And Paul taught in 1Cor.2 beginning with verse 8 reads.

1Cor.2:8] Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

But that the word of God shall come to pass exactly as it is written.

1Cor.2:9] But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
[10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

God will open the eyes and ears of his elect in due season for his word to come to pass. Back to Isa.10 and verse 8 reads.

Isa.10:8] For he saith, Are not my princes altogether kings?
[9] Is not Calno as Carchemish? is not Hamath as Arpad? is not Samaria as Damascus?

This draws a straight line from Nineveh to Jerusalem. The king of Assyria will not take Judah, but the king of Babylon will two hundred years later.

Isa.10:10] As my hand hath found the kingdoms of the idols, and whose graven images did excel them of Jerusalem and of Samaria;
[11] Shall I not, as I have done unto Samaria and her idols, so do to Jerusalem and her idols?

The king of Israel put the two golden calves in Samaria and Dan. But, remember Judah played the harlot also.

Isa.10:12] Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will punish the fruit of the stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.

The king of Assyria will fall to the king of Babylon eventually. This is talking about something greater, the antichrist standing in Jerusalem showing himself he is God. 2Thes.2 and verse 3 reads.

2Thes.2:3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

Not until the apostasy when all will worship the antichrist thinking he is Christ.

2Thes.2:4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

Back to Isa.10 and verse 13 reads.

Isa.10:13] For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a valiant man:

This is the king of Assyria speaking, sounding like the antichrist. We can see how God will use prophecy to show us how it will happen in the end times as well as for Israel when they fell away from God and worshipped idols.

Isa.10:14] And my hand hath found as a nest the riches of the people: and as one gathereth eggs that are left, have I gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved the wing, or opened the mouth, or peeped.

The king of Assyria took it all and there was none left.

Isa.10:15] Shall the axe boast itself against him that heweth therewith? or shall the saw magnify itself against him that shaketh it? as if the rod should shake itself against them that lift it up, or as if the staff should lift up itself, as if it were no wood.

Can the axe tell the man that swung it, I did that. No, nor could any of the things said after that do the same. The question was, can you talk this way to God, and of course the answer is no. Could he do this without God? No.

Isa.10:16] Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.

The Lord sends a famine in the land, not a famine for bread or water but for hearing the word of the LORD. Amos 8:11. And, Our God is a consuming fire. Heb.12:29.

Isa.10:17] And the light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;

This Light is Jesus Christ. His Holy One of Israel is Jesus Christ. In one day is the LORD’s Day, the beginning of the millennium. This promise was given to us from the Lord about 734 years B.C.

Isa.10:18] And shall consume the glory of his forest, and of his fruitful field, both soul and body: and they shall be as when a standardbearer fainteth.

These forest are his trees of Lebanon, which he calls his children. They shall be burned with fire. Let’s go to Mat.10 and verse 28 reads.

Mat.10:28] And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Back to Isa.10 and verse 19 reads.

Isa.10:19] And the rest of the trees of his forest shall be few, that a child may write them.

I’ll say a few, 7,000 of God’s very elect and 144,000 of the twelve tribes of Israel. That a child may write? Yes, that six comes before seven. Sad that the adults can’t count to seven. Now we come to this very thing, the promise from God for us in these end times, the remnant.

Isa.10:20] And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth.

734 B.C. God gave you and me this promise. The remnant of Israel, the 7,000 of his Elect. And the twelve thousand of each tribe of Jacob, the 144,000 that escape. That hear the Word of God, the Holy One of Israel, Jesus Christ who is truth. When the Elect are delivered up to Satan and the Holy Spirit speaks through them. The remnant do hear and repent. We studied this many times, Matthew 24, Mark 13, and recently in Revelation 7 where they are sealed in their foreheads.

Isa.10:21] The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God.
[22] For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness.

Check out this word consumption, H3631 and it means; annihilation. And shall overflow with righteousness, meaning they shall hear the word of God and be saved.

Isa.10:23] For the Lord GOD of hosts shall make a consumption, even determined, in the midst of all the land.

Now, this word consumption is different. It is H3617 and means; a completion or a termination, a full end. Meaning the end times are inevitable. And the prophecy for Assyria will conclude with the end times.

Isa.10:24] Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD of hosts, O my people that dwellest in Zion, be not afraid of the Assyrian: he shall smite thee with a rod, and shall lift up his staff against thee, after the manner of Egypt.

Like the coming out of captivity to Egypt, we come out of Assyria and we come out of the sixth trump and go into the seventh trump. Or, we can look at it another way. They will go into captivity to Assyria, just like with Egypt. And we also at the end times will go into captivity to the antichrist. Now, we come to the promise of deliverance.

Isa.10:25] For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.

We learn in Rev.11:14 that after the sixth trump the seventh trump comes quickly.

Isa.10:26] And the LORD of hosts shall stir up a scourge for him according to the slaughter of Midian at the rock of Oreb: and as his rod was upon the sea, so shall he lift it up after the manner of Egypt.

This is written in the book of Judges, Judges 7 and verse 25 reads.

Judges 7:25] And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.

Remember we are comparing the captivity of Israel into the hand of the king of Assyria, our like for the end times. Our Rock is Jesus Christ and we stand on that Rock which is the Word of God.

Isa.10:27] And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

In that day of the LORD, our King of kings shall return. Let’s go to Psalms 105 and verse 14 reads.

Psa.105:14] He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
[15] Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.
[16] Moreover he called for a famine upon the land: he brake the whole staff of bread.

And we know that famine is for hearing the word of the Lord. Amos 8:11. Back to Isaiah 10 and verse 28 reads.

Isa.10:28] He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages:
[29] They are gone over the passage: they have taken up their lodging at Geba; Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.

Assyria comes down to take Judah also but the LORD will not let this happen. This place of Geba is about six miles from Jerusalem, they are getting close.

Isa.10:30] Lift up thy voice, O daughter of Gallim: cause it to be heard unto Laish, O poor Anathoth.

Anathoth was the priest city just outside of Jerusalem. Can you see the like for the end times? Poor as in misguided, false teachers in these end times.

Isa.10:31] Madmenah is removed; the inhabitants of Gebim gather themselves to flee.
[32] As yet shall he remain at Nob that day: he shall shake his hand against the mount of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

Nob means; high place. It overlooks Jerusalem and is only a half a day’s march away.

Isa.10:33] Behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, shall lop the bough with terror: and the high ones of stature shall be hewn down, and the haughty shall be humbled.

They will learn a lesson the hard way, the LORD himself shall smite them.

Isa.10:34] And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and Lebanon shall fall by a mighty one.

The LORD is our shepherd I shall not want. He shall deliver us from captivity when we come back to him. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
