In this chapter we see Christ is superior to Moses, I would say to all. Also, we find Israel through unbelief failed Moses. Heb.3 and verse 1 reads.

Heb.3:1] Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus;

Apostle means Sent One, Jesus was sent by the Father. We are called and chosen for the time in which we live. How can we tell if we are called? Do you have an appetite for his word that you can’t explain? Why are you studying so deeply? Then, this is your destiny, to learn God’s Word and then plant the seeds to whosoever will listen, to whosoever the Lord sends you to.

Heb.3:2] Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses was faithful in all his house.

God told Miriam and Aaron if he wanted to talk to a prophet he would in a dream, but not Moses, he would speak to Moses face to face for Moses was more than a prophet. Num.12:7.

Heb.3:3] For this man was counted worthy of more glory than Moses, inasmuch as he who hath builded the house hath more honour than the house.

Saying here that Christ is more than Moses, of course Jesus is Lord, but what about this house. Better spoken in Zechariah 6:12 and it reads.

Zech.6:12] And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying, Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH; and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:

Remember when Jesus would say “tare down this temple and I would rebuild it in three days.” He was speaking of this Temple, the Temple of the Lord, that many membered body of the Lord. Back to Heb.3 and verse 4 reads.

Heb.3:4] For every house is builded by some man; but he that built all things is God.

You can build a house of wood, but the Lord created the tree that you milled the lumber from.

Heb.3:5] And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;

Verily means truly. His house was the house of Jacob, whom he served for the prophecies to come.

Heb.3:6] But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Let’s go to Mat.10:22 and it reads.

Mat.10:22] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

For his name’s sake, Christian. Back to Heb.3 and verse 7 reads.

Heb.3:7] Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

When Peter was confronted by the high priest and elders about the crippled man who was made whole, he responded… Acts 4:7-10 and it reads.

Acts 4:7] And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name, have ye done this?
[8] Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,
[9] If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole;
[10] Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

We are to teach Christ crucified, raised from the dead, and that he sits on the right hand of God until all his enemies are made his footstool. Back to Heb.3 and verse 8 reads.

Heb.3:8] Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
[9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

Speaking about the time with Moses. Yes, the Lord sees it as tempting him, his patience.

Heb.3:10] Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways.
[11] So I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.)
[12] Take heed, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God.

That generation did not enter into the promised land. How many of this generation (Fig tree) will enter into the next promised land. 1Cor.10:11.

Heb.3:13] But exhort one another daily, while it is called To day; lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

Exhort is to build up. Should read; “But build one another up daily.” with the Word of God daily we won’t fall into sin.

Heb.3:14] For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Until the end is the key words here, put the gospel armor on to stand and fight against the wicked of this world.

Heb.3:15] While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

All of this was written in Psalms 95 and verse 7 reads.

Psa.95:7] For he is our God; and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. To day if ye will hear his voice,
[8] Harden not your heart, as in the provocation, and as in the day of temptation in the wilderness:
[9] When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.
[10] Forty years long was I grieved with this generation, and said, It is a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
[11] Unto whom I sware in my wrath that they should not enter into my rest.

They did not believe, and that generation did not enter into the promised land. They saw the waters parted and walked on dry ground across the Red Sea. They were fed manna and even quail, water out of the flinty rock provided water for them and their flocks. And still they did not believe, but perished in the wilderness. An example for us in these end times. Back to Heb.3 and verse 16 reads.

Heb.3:16] For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses.

Joshua and Caleb were the only two that did not doubt the word of God. They would enter into the promised land.

Heb.3:17] But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?

The LORD caused all that were 20 yrs. and older to perish in the wilderness except Joshua and Caleb.

Heb.3:18] And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

Enter into his rest, that’s Sabbath. We can sabbath in him today, we rest in him with his word, and are comforted by him.

Heb.3:19] So we see that they could not enter in because of unbelief.

We have a great example today of how it will be in the end times. Those that don’t believe will enter the promised land as mortal souls, liable to die, they will be spiritually dead in the millennium. But we that believe have everlasting life, we are immortal and have overcome the wicked one. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
