In chapter 3 today we will learn about the Serpent’s seed. Now, some will tell you this is a theory, I tell you we will read it as a fact. It is God’s word, not an opinion but the Word of God. You might have to put away traditions of men, and you should, and simply read the word of God. Gen.3 and verse 1 reads.
Gen.3:1] Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
This is not a talking snake, this is Satan. In Rev.12:9 we are provided several names all these names are titles and offices that Satan holds. More on that in a moment.
Gen.3:2] And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
These trees are H6086 Ets in the Hebrew and means; fruit trees, wood, lumber and such.
Gen.3:3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
Notice this tree is singular, it is one of the trees set in the middle of the garden. God said not to eat of the tree of good and evil, this being Satan. This word “touch” is H5060 Naga in the Hebrew and means; to lie with a woman.
Gen.3:4] And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Now the Serpent lies to her, he is the father of it. Paul taught us in the New Testament, 2Cor.11:2-3 and it reads.
2Cor.11:2] For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
[3] But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
Know that Satan is a master at deception, he will deceive and seduce you if you have not the word of God, that seal in our foreheads. Back to Gen.3 and verse 5 reads.
Gen.3:5] For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
First this word “Eat” is H398 Akal in the Hebrew and means; to eat, to devour, or burn up. In other words partake of your own free will. remember this Satan speaking here. Second this word “Eyes” is H5869 and means your spiritual eyes. And this word “Opened” is H6491 and can mean either eyes or ears, again think spiritual. Satan is talking to Eve and deceiving her to partake of the tree of good and evil, himself.
Gen.3:6] And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
Not only Eve was seduced but Adam also. The second being an abomination.
Gen.3:7] And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
This is the beginning of the Parable of the Fig Tree. How important is it? Let’s go to Mat.24:3 and it reads.
Mat.24:3] And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
He gives us all we need to know for the end times in this chapter, also in Mark 13. Now, let’s skip down to verse 32 and it reads.
Mat.24:32] Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Jesus didn’t say maybe, he said Learn It. And it begins right here, right now in the garden. They were not in an apple orchard but a fig grove. They did sow apple leaves across their mouths, they sowed fig leaves over their privates. They knew they had been wholly seduced. Now, Satan has been trying from the beginning to pollute the seed line from which Christ would come. Back to Gen.3 and verse 8 reads.
Gen.3:8] And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.
This shows us that both God and Satan are in the midst of the garden, the tree of Life and the tree of good and evil. And Adam and Eve knew they had sinned.
Gen.3:9] And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou?
[10] And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.
We too shall stand before God and give account for ourselves, but by the blood of the Lamb we repent and our sins are forgiven.
Gen.3:11] And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?
[12] And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat.
Typical of man to blame a woman for his own sins, God will not let this slide.
Gen.3:13] And the LORD God said unto the woman, What is this that thou hast done? And the woman said, The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.
Beguiled is H5377 Nasha in the Hebrew and means; seduce. Eat is H398 Akal and can mean to be forced to consume. She laid with Satan.
Gen.3:14] And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
This is a statement of degradation, let’s take this word serpent to Rev.12 and read verse 9.
Rev.12:9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Talking about a future time, the sixth trump, I came here for you to catch his name “That old serpent”, meaning from Genesis. Back to Gen.3 and verse 15 reads.
Gen.3:15] And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
This was the first prophesy in the bible, given straight from God. he shall bruise his heel, they nailed them to the cross, but he shall bruise his head. This will happen at the seventh trump. But catch that there are two seeds, one the woman’s, the other Satan’s. The parable of the fig tree is two seed lines. Let’s go to Mat.13:36-40, Jesus speaking and it reads.
Mat.13:36] Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
[37] He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
[38] The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
[39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
[40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
Who is this wicked one, it’s the Serpent from the garden. Jesus also taught us in John 8:42-44 and it reads.
John 8:42] Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
[43] Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
[44] Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
We will find out shortly that Eve had twins, one of them was named Cain, Kenites mean “offspring of Cain”. That was who Jesus was talking with in John 8. Back to Gen.3 and verse 16 reads.
Gen.3:16] Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.
Don’t overlook these words, multiply, and conception. Eve would have twins, one from that wicked one, Satan and the other from her husband Adam.
Gen.3:17] And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
[18] Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
[19] In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.
Remember God had provided for Adam, he did not have to till the ground or work the garden. But now he will work it, and by the sweat of his own brow will he harvest it. This from the dust was he taken, to dust shall he return can be easy to understand if you have read Ecc.12:6-7.
Gen.3:20] And Adam called his wife’s name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.
Many preachers would say that Eve was mother of all races, this untrue and shows they are ignorant to God’s word. One race cannot bare another race. But, that umbilical cord to umbilical cord would come Jesus Christ. and if you are not in him, then you are not Living.
Gen.3:21] Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
The LORD clothed them with skins, before they knew sin they were happy and did not care if they were naked. What a shame.
Gen.3:22] And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:
What he is saying is now that Adam and Eve know Satan, he must separate them, so that they may receive Salvation from the tree of Life.
Gen.3:23] Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.
[24] So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep the way of the tree of life.
Wow, kicked out of the garden, I couldn’t imagine. But, at least now he has a farmer. Let’s pay close attention to these Cherubims, the Strongs’ makes a big mistake with this one. It is H3742 Keruwb in the Hebrew and means; a cherub or imaginary figure. That is very dangerous to say “Imaginary figure”, and couldn’t be further from the truth. They do however go on to say who they really are. They were created by God to protect the mercy seat, now here in Genesis they were in the garden, so was the LORD, meaning he had his throne and of course the mercy seat is under the throne of God. We find in Revelations they were called “Beast” which was mistranslated and should have been translated “Creations”. We know that Satan used to be one of two that protected the mercy seat until he became proud and fell. My educated guess is that Michael was the other because only he is strong enough to hold Satan at this time. Now this sword, we find in Rev.1:16 it is the word of the Lord. Great study today and look forward to chapter 4, let’s go to his throne.
