GENESIS 1 {Revised}

Today we begin Genesis. Genesis chapter one can be divided into two subjects, the first being the Three Earth Ages and the second The Creation. Although a long study, it is by far the most important in understanding God’s word. Let’s get started, Genesis 1 and verse 1 reads.

Gen.1 (The Three Earth Ages)

Gen.1:1] In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Period, he did not say 6500 yrs. ago, even with that thought you would have to include the first 7000 yrs. which we will study in a minute. this brings us to almost 14000 yrs. and that is only this earth age. But we have three earth ages to consider, so let’s get started in Proverbs 8 and pick it up with verse 22 and it reads.

Prov.8:22] The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

The LORD taught me about what was.

Prov.8:23] I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.

I, Wisdom speaking, before I even created the earth or anything else.

Prov.8:24] When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
[25] Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
[26] While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
[27] When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
[28] When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
[29] When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth:

We learn that Wisdom was with the LORD long before he made the earth. This is the full Godhead, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. To show that Jesus was with God at this time also, let’s go to John 1 and read verses 1-5.

John 1:1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Word is G3056, Logos in Greek. Jesus Christ.

John 1:2] The same was in the beginning with God.
[3] All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The trinity explained here, where the two are then also the Spirit is.

John 1:4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Let’s go back to Gen.1 and verse 2 reads.

Gen.1:2] And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The word “was” should have been translated as “became”. H1961 from H1933 in the Hebrew. We learn that it was not created void, but became void. Why? We find in the Greek word for “foundation” G2602 Katabole; the overthrow of Satan in the first earth age. Let’s see where else we can find this, Isaiah 45:17-19 and it reads.

Isa.45:17] But Israel shall be saved in the LORD with an everlasting salvation: ye shall not be ashamed nor confounded world without end.

What do you think of this word Salvation, even in the Old Testament we have Jesus Christ our Savior. Now this world without end is the third earth age, meaning it will never end, completing the Three Earth Ages. He was, He is, He is to come.

Isa.45:18] For thus saith the LORD that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the LORD; and there is none else.

This word “vain” is To-Hoo H8414 in the Hebrew; Void and empty, the same as in Gen.1:2. Saying here that he formed it to be inhabited, not void and empty. From the beginning, from the first earth age there was always life on earth and we can find their fossils everywhere today, this earth age was made for man in the flesh.

Isa.45:19] I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

Saying he did not hide it, it’s called the word of God, and we are studying it right now. Maybe we can find it written in the New Testament, let’s go to 2Pet.3:5-10 and it reads.

2Pet.3:5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

By the Word of God, nothing hidden in secret, or in a dark place, Isa.45:19. The heavens were of old, the first earth age. This earth standing out of and in the water means one land mass.

2Pet.3:6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

The world that then was, meaning and then it wasn’t. This is not the flood of Noah’s time, this world perished and the flood of Noah did not end this earth age, but saved the children of God from the fallen angels and their descendants (the giants). The first earth age perished with water, an ice age perhaps. G2602, Katabole from foundation.

2Pet.3:7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

“Are now”, this earth age. This earth age is reserved for fire, Heb.12:29 “For our God is a consuming fire”. We will have a millennium, a thousand years or the Lord’s Day. And then the Great white throne judgement. And then, and only then, the third earth and heaven age which is everlasting. Come Lord Jesus, come.

2Pet.3:8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Remember this verse for the rest of chapter 1 in Genesis.

2Pet.3:9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Longsuffering is patience. The reason for this earth age is given here. This earth age is for all of us to come in the flesh and show we will love God. That all will come to repentance of our sins, and Salvation waits for us.

2Pet.3:10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

As a thief in the night because they think Jesus is here already, but it is the antichrist. They didn’t read his word and were deceived at the sixth trump instead of putting on the gospel armor and stand against Satan. We wait for the true Christ, the seventh trump. Ok, getting back to the Three Earth Ages, is it written anywhere else? Yes, let’s go back to the Old Testament and read Jeremiah 4:22-27.

Jer.4:22] For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

Sottish is an old English word that means stupid. We will be covering the end of the first earth age here, remember Satan took a third of God’s children, Rev.12:4.

Jer.4:23] I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

Again, this word “Void” is To-Hoo, H8414 in the Hebrew. There was no light, no Salvation. Being the reason for this earth age, but don’t overlook we are in the first earth age at this time.

Jer.4:24] I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

The land mass was split and divided at this point.

Jer.4:25] I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
[26] I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

Showing us in the first earth age we had cities also. But all was destroyed by the anger of the LORD and this presence means he came down with great anger. This shows me that the third earth age will be different from the first. Rev.21:3 The LORD will dwell with us.

Jer.4:27] For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

The LORD did not make a full end, he gave us this earth age for repentance. Now, let’s go to Ephesians 1:4-5 and it reads.

Eph.1:4] According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

This word foundation is G2602 in the Greek and means the overthrow of Satan in the first earth age.

Eph.1:5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Don’t overlook this word predestinated, meaning from the first earth age. And chosen from verse 4, meaning we were chosen because we fought once for the LORD and we will fight for him again at these end times. Now, we come to the Creation, Gen.1 and verse 3 reads.

Gen.1:3] And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.

Creation of this earth age, God has already created the earth to be inhabited but then destroyed it in his anger. With that we know he created the stars and the earth, so what is this light? For that we go back to John 1 and read 4-5 again.

John 1:4] In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
[5] And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

Jesus is that Light. This Light is our Salvation, the reason for this earth age. Now we know by this study that there is so much said in John and Genesis that correlates from the beginning between the two. Back to Gen.1 and verse 4 reads.

Gen.1:4] And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
[5] And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Here we see that Day is uppercase and so is Night. meaning Jesus is Light (Day) and Satan is Darkness (Night). This ends the first day, the first 1000 yrs.

Gen.1:6] And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
[7] And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.
[8] And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

I have struggled with this for years, then it came to me. The firmament fell at the end of the first earth age. That is the waters that protected the earth, there was no weather as we have today. Meaning the Lord is no longer on earth with us, he has divided himself from us while we are in the flesh. For God is Spirit. Also, we will have what we call a polysyndeton. “And” meaning the Holy Spirit was with God in all creation, we also learned that Jesus, the Son of God was also with him. The Trinity, the Godhead, the Triune GodHead, whichever you wish to call it, the Three are One. This word “And (the polysyndeton)” is used to begin each day.

Gen.1:9] And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so.
[10] And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.

Remember he destroyed the first earth age with water, the overflow, now he separates the land and the waters flow between the continents for the first time. And God saw that this was good, this will be important for the sixth day.

Gen.1:11] And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so.
[12] And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[13] And the evening and the morning were the third day.

Here on the third day, we learn that what is natural is of God. Kind after kind, nothing that mixes is natural and is perceived as perverted by God. Also, notice these fruits and herbs are prepared for the sixth day creation, hunters and gatherers.

Gen.1:14] And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
[15] And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
[16] And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
[17] And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
[18] And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.
[19] And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

The sun and the stars were already made in the first earth age, so what does this mean? What this means is God arranged them for seasons and for signs for man in the flesh. In other words, he moved them in the order in which we see them today. I can’t help but think of John 9. The greater being Jesus and the lesser being Satan. What we just learned above about Day and Night, Job 38, the stars are his children. Let’s go to John 9 and verse 4-5 reads.

John 9:4] I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
[5] As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

We learn that God refers to us as the stars, let’s go to Job 38:7 and it reads.

Job.38:7] When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?

Of course, this was in the first earth age and before Satan was proud and fell hard. Back to Gen.1 and verse 20 reads.

Gen.1:20] And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.

Ever wonder if animals have souls? This word life is H5315. Nephesh in the Hebrew and means; Soul. We find in Isa.11 that the animals are with us in heaven.

Gen.1:21] And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
[22] And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
[23] And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

Now some, even my teacher, think that this fifth day God made the Chinese. I disagree, because all mankind will be made on the sixth day as we will see in a minute, you can decide for yourselves.

Gen.1:24] And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so.

These cattle are wilder beast and buffalo and so forth.

Gen.1:25] And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.

God made everything kind after kind. There is no half monkey and half man, that is a ridiculous thought of man to explain away a God in their own minds. So these unbelievers came up with evolution. If evolution was a fact, then it would be never ending. You would still have things in transition today. But we don’t.

Gen.1:26] And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Who is God talking to here, he is talking to you and me. Remember Job 38:7, we were with him and he is telling us that we will be made in the image of our spiritual bodies that we were in at that time. This word image is Phantom in Hebrew. Meaning an exact copy of our spiritual body. Notice that God says “our”, he was including himself. Let’s go to Isa.7:14 and it reads.

Isa.7:14] Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Immanuel, God with us in the Hebrew. Back to Gen.1 and verse 27 reads.

Gen.1:27] So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

Now this “own image” is different, this means from the beginning of creation. He created us in spirit, for God is Spirit, now our flesh imitates our spiritual bodies. I would hate to be that person that stands before God and says “you didn’t know that I was not what you made me as.” This perversion that is in our world today is an abomination to the Lord. He just said male and female, he did not say whatever they feel like.

Gen.1:28] And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

He said replenish, meaning we have a second earth age after he destroyed the first. I don’t think it is good to kill any animal other than to sustain yourself, God created all living things for his pleasure, Rev.4:11.

Gen.1:29] And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
[30] And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
[31] And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

God just said “It was very good”, all races are very good, we are all made in his image. Kind after kind without apology, we have all races today, and it is very good. And this was the sixth day. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
