Ephesians 5 and verse 1 reads.
Eph.5:1] Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;
As a child looks up to his father.
Eph.5:2] And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
Was crucified for our sins that upon repentance we can have everlasting life. Let’s go to John 15 and read verses 12-14.
John 15:12] This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
[13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
[14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
Check this word “life” out in the Strongs’, it’s G5590 Psuche in the Greek, and means soul. Now, reread verse 2 before continuing with verse 3 please.
Eph.5:3] But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;
As we come to the Lord by his word, we keep his commandments.
Eph.5:4] Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
All mentioned above are taking and not giving, they are not of God.
Eph.5:5] For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
Don’t let an unbeliever into the house of God, theirs is not the kingdom.
Eph.5:6] Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
[7] Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
What was the first thing Jesus said when asked about his coming in the end times? Let’s go to Matthew 24 and pick it up with verse 3 and it reads.
Mat.24:3] And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
[4] And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
[5] For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
Saying I am a Christian, even preaching from the pulpit. Back to Eph.5 and verse 8 reads.
Eph.5:8] For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Darkness is of Satan, Light is of Christ.
Eph.5:9] (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
[10] Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
You will know them by their fruit, show them your fruit is of the Lord, these are your works.
Eph.5:11] And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
Shun them from among the congregation.
Eph.5:12] For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.
Separate yourselves but expose them.
Eph.5:13] But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.
When your light shines, the darkness departs. Evil can’t stand a Godly spirit, it cannot comprehend it.
Eph.5:14] Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
It is said in Isaiah 60:1-5 let’s read.
Isa.60:1] Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee.
Prophesying about the coming of Jesus.
Isa.60:2] For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee.
[3] And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.
[4] Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side.
[5] Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee.
When the Light shines through us, that Light being Jesus Christ within us, the whole world will come to us for Jesus’ sake. Back to Eph.5 and verse 15 reads.
Eph.5:15] See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
Knowing the Word of God.
Eph.5:16] Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
[17] Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
[18] And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
[19] Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
[20] Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
With joy in our hearts, showing the love of the Lord for everyone to come to him.
Eph.5:21] Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
Submitting is making yourselves known to all around you, that you are Christians.
Eph.5:22] Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
[23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
[24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
In 1Tim.5:8 it reads.
1Tim.5:8] But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
Now you wives, if your husband is a fool and you submit to him, then you’re a bigger fool than he is. For you women should also know that these next verses are for your husband, and if he doesn’t follow these scriptures then don’t submit yourselves to him.
Eph.5:25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
[26] That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
Husbands, are you teaching your family the word of God, if not then your worse than an infidel. There are so many responsibilities that comes from being a father and a husband.
Eph.5:27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Treat your house as the house of God, as a church.
Eph.5:28] So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
The two became one.
Eph.5:29] For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
[30] For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
[31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
Genesis 2:22, bone of my bone.
Eph.5:32] This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Spiritually speaking he is talking about the many membered body of the church being the congregation, and Christ being the head of the body.
Eph.5:33] Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Back to speaking of the flesh, be the two as one. Let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
