Today’s study is divided with two titles. Verses 1-6 are titled The Day of Vengeance. Verses 7-19 are titled The LORD’s Favor Shown Israel. Also, today we will have a * with each of the verses that elude directly to Jesus Christ. Isaiah 63 and verse 1 reads.

*Isa.63:1] Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.

Edom means; Red, said here for Communism. They dye their garments to look like the Lamb slain, but cannot save. Jesus Christ only is Savior.

Isa.63:2] Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat?

Red from the blood of the innocence. Do not be deceived there is but One LORD and we find him described in Rev.19 and verse 11 reads.

Rev.19:11] And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
[12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
[13] And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
[14] And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
[15] And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

So, Edom tries to take on the likeness of Jesus. Edom will be Russia in these end times. Communism never allows God’s Word to be taught within their borders. We see this whether it be China, Russia or any other communist nation of today. Back to Isa.63 and verse 3 reads.

*Isa.63:3] I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.

The traps are set, God will tread them underfoot and His raiment will be stained with their blood. He does this alone. Let’s go to Rev.14 and verse 19 reads.

Rev.14:19] And the angel thrust in his sickle into the earth, and gathered the vine of the earth, and cast it into the great winepress of the wrath of God.

You would never use a sickle to reap grapes; it would make a huge mess.

Rev.14:20] And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.

There will be many who die a spiritual death for worshipping the antichrist, they will pray for mountains to fall on them out of shame. Back to Isa.63 and verse 4 reads.

Isa.63:4] For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

First let me remind you of Isaiah 59 and verse 16 reads.

Isa.59:16] And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
[17] For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

The reason we put on the gospel armor is to Stand against the antichrist. Verse 4 above is the second advent, the part of Isa.61 that Jesus was quoting while he was in the synagogue teaching. We need to cover both again so that you completely understand the first and the second advents. Let’s first cover Isa.61 and verse 1 reads.

Isa.61:1] The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

That was the beginning of the first advent, which is Salvation coming into the world. The next verse splits both advents, pay close attention.

Isa.61:2] To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

After it says LORD it has a comma not a period as we will see in a minute when Jesus quotes it. But now after the comma we have the Day of Vengeance, and as we will see that gospel armor is needed.

Isa.61:3] To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.

All we do is for the Glory of our LORD. Now let’s go to Luke 4 where Jesus reads from the book of Isaiah and verse 17 reads.

Luke 4:17] And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
[18] The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
[19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Period not a comma.

Luke 4:20] And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
[21] And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

Two advents prophesied in Isa.61:1-2, Jesus fulfilled the first, and will fulfill the second at the seventh trump. Now let’s see how it will be for those who dyed their garments. Rev.20 and verse 8 reads.

Rev.20:8] And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

Here comes the communist who deceived the whole world, they get their power from Satan.

Rev.20:9] And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Heb.12:29] For our God is a consuming fire.

Rev.20:10] And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

They will go up in smoke forever, never to exist again.

Rev.20:11] And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
[12] And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Our works are the only thing we can take with us to heaven. Back to Isa.63 and verse 5 reads.

Isa.63:5] And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore mine own arm brought salvation unto me; and my fury, it upheld me.

In His indignation, the LORD is speaking. Let’s go to John 16 and verse 31 reads.

John 16:31] Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?
[32] Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
[33] These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Speaking of the second advent that is to come. we can rest (Sabbath) in Christ for He and the Father dwell within us. Let’s go to Psalms 98 and verse 1 reads.

Psa.98:1] O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
[2] The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen.
[3] He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

We as Christians take comfort with his Word. Back to Isa.63 and verse 6 reads.

Isa.63:6] And I will tread down the people in mine anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their strength to the earth.

We know that Jesus is the Word of God, and his name is The Word of God. Now we can understand his compassion for his children when he prayed for this Cup of Wrath not to be poured out. Let’s go to Matthew 26 and verse 37 reads.

Mat.26:37] And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

He took Peter, James and John with him. notice that he is very heavy, the time has come for the first advent to come to an end. Now, the second advent is heavy on his heart. Here is the compassion of the LORD.

Mat.26:38] Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

Watchmen wake up, this is said for you.

Mat.26:39] And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

The Word of God knows what is written will come to pass exactly as it is written.

Mat.26:40] And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?
[41] Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

Speaking of the hour of Temptation. The seven years of tribulation shortened to five months. Rev.9:5. Now, why we came here, listen very closely.

Mat.26:42] He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

He didn’t say to do away with it, on the contrary, except I drink it means; don’t break Thy Word, Thy Word be done. His compassion made him very heavy in heart because he was with us in the flesh, and he knows this cup of Wrath will hurt very much. We have all heard that old saying from our fathers “This is going to hurt me more than it hurts you” maybe now, after all these years we can understand the love of our Father in heaven for us. For the heart of Jesus was very heavy on this Cup of Wrath. Back to Isa.63 and verses 7-19 are titled “The LORD’s Favor Shown Israel” and verse 7 reads.

Isa.63:7] I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD, and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD hath bestowed on us, and the great goodness toward the house of Israel, which he hath bestowed on them according to his mercies, and according to the multitude of his lovingkindnesses.

His mercies are his love for his children, Israel said here for the house of Jacob (all twelve tribes). Let’s go to Psa.92 and verse 1 reads.

Psa.92:1] It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
[2] To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

Let’s go to Rev.21 and verse 3 reads.

Rev.21:3] And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

His love (Mercy) and ever-loving kindness be with you, Amen. Back to Isa.63 and verse 8 reads.

*Isa.63:8] For he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviour.

Speaking of Jesus Christ here in the Old Testament. not only won’t we lie, but we won’t believe their lies and false teachers that have taken over the pulpits. Remember Isa.3 and verse 11 reads.

Isa.3:11] Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
[12] As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
[13] The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
[14] The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.

In the house of the LORD, our churches of today.

Isa.3:15] What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the LORD GOD of hosts.

Back to Isa.63 and verse 9 reads.

*Isa.63:9] In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

Again, Jesus here in the O.T. It said, “In all our affliction He was afflicted”, no wonder that cup is called The Cup of Wrath. The LORD will never leave us, or forsake us, because he dwells within us. Our Redeemer will carry us, think of the poem Footprints. Back to Isa.63 and verse 10 reads.

*Isa.63:10] But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them.

The Kenites will fight back, that serpent’s seed. But, against Jesus Christ they have no chance. They will be turned to ashes, up in smoke forever. Reading about our gospel armor in Ephesians 6 we read that it is a war of principalities, not of flesh and blood. This spiritual war is all around us today, we see it in everything. Whether it be in our schools, government, economies or in religion. These four pillars will be Satan’s strongholds in these end times, and they will fight back against God’s children.

Isa.63:11] Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?

He now brings up the days of old, and Moses. Find time to study Psalms 78, it also covers how the children of God could not believe in him. We need to take away from this that those who were brought out of Egypt from bondage and were going to be given the promised land died in the wilderness for their unbelief. We must always remember 1Cor.10 and verse 11 reads.

1Cor.10:11] Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

What happened to those in the wilderness will happen again. But we are God’s children, it is written for our admonition and to be prepared for this time and for the tribulation. Back to Isa.63 and verse 12 reads.

Isa.63:12] That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

Know that it was the LORD that did this, not Moses. Moses was only a faithful servant.

Isa.63:13] That led them through the deep, as an horse in the wilderness, that they should not stumble?

By the hand of the LORD, never leaving them.

Isa.63:14] As a beast goeth down into the valley, the Spirit of the LORD caused him to rest: so didst thou lead thy people, to make thyself a glorious name.

He gave them rest and water and fed them in the wilderness. Think of this today, Amos 8:11 reads.

Amos 8:11] Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

He will feed us when the whole world is deceived and hungry. Back to Isa.63 and verse 15 reads.

Isa.63:15] Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained?

Don’t ever doubt the LORD, his Word is truth.

Isa.63:16] Doubtless thou art our father, though Abraham be ignorant of us, and Israel acknowledge us not: thou, O LORD, art our father, our redeemer; thy name is from everlasting.

Israel is given here for Jacob, grandson of Abraham. They never doubted the LORD, who gave them the promise of a seed likened to the sands of the sea. That seed would be called Israel.

Isa.63:17] O LORD, why hast thou made us to err from thy ways, and hardened our heart from thy fear? Return for thy servants’ sake, the tribes of thine inheritance.

This would be the doubt that he was talking about. Israel (the twelve tribes) has always had the problem of unbelief.

Isa.63:18] The people of thy holiness have possessed it but a little while: our adversaries have trodden down thy sanctuary.

When these adversaries trodden down his sanctuary know that it is the sixth trump and Satan is here on the earth. And the second advent comes quickly.

Isa.63:19] We are thine: thou never barest rule over them; they were not called by thy name.

They will never be called Christians. By their spots you will know them. Another great lesson in Isaiah today, let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
