The title for today’s lesson is Judgement on Babylon. Keeping in perspective that prophecy is given for our admonition on who the ends of the world have come. (1Cor.10:11). Judah going into captivity for her sins, and for us today for the sin of worshipping the antichrist. Isaiah 47 and verse 1 reads.
Isa.47:1] Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: there is no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.
The children of Judah have become the children of Babylon and they go into captivity. The children of Babylon likened to those who worship the king of Babylon, Satan, in the end times.
Isa.47:2] Take the millstones, and grind meal: uncover thy locks, make bare the leg, uncover the thigh, pass over the rivers.
Get away from the false religions, God will treat them like men acting as women.
Isa.47:3] Thy nakedness shall be uncovered, yea, thy shame shall be seen: I will take vengeance, and I will not meet thee as a man.
Let’s go to Rev.3 the LORD is speaking to the church of Laodiceans who were found to be lukewarm and about to be spewed out of his mouth, and verse 18 reads.
Rev.3:18] I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Telling them that they should buy gold tried in the fire, meaning pure. And given white raiment which is made up of our righteous acts. That their sins not be seen, let’s come back to this. Also, that GOD may open their spiritual eyes to his word. Let’s go back to their nakedness. It is G1132 gumnotēs pronounced goom-not’-ace. And means; 1. nakedness of the body. It comes from G1131 gumnos pronounced goom-nos’, and means; of the soul, whose garment is the body, stripped of the body, without a body. So we see here that the white raiment covers our sins, this is the blood of Jesus Christ. And the nakedness shows the shame of those who refused to repent. Back to Isa.47 and verse 4 reads.
Isa.47:4] As for our redeemer, the LORD of hosts is his name, the Holy One of Israel.
Our Redeemer is Jesus Christ, the Son. The LORD is the Father and the Holy One of Israel is the Holy Spirit. The triune Godhead or the Trinity, however you wish to say, spoken right here in the Old Testament.
Isa.47:5] Sit thou silent, and get thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called, The lady of kingdoms.
The LORD says sit and be silent, sit in the darkness. We know that Satan is Darkness, so what is being said here, certainly this is said for the end times. Let’s go to Rev.18 and verse 7 reads.
Rev.18:7] How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
This is Mystery Babylon, The Mother of Harlots. She is the churches of today that lead God’s children into the hand of the antichrist. Whether they call it rapture or flying away, she leads them to Satan. We wait for the marriage to the Lamb, until then we are widowed. These have the mark of the beast in their hand and do his works. We keep reading and learn of her fate.
Rev.18:8] Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her.
We know in Hebrews 12:29 it reads; For our God is a consuming fire. Back to Isa.47 and verse 6 reads.
Isa.47:6] I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.
Cyrus would come and tax them, beat them and conquer them. We know in the end times Satan comes at the sixth trump. But we wait for the true Christ who comes at the seventh trump. When the true Christ comes at the seventh trump all knees will bow.
Isa.47:7] And thou saidst, I shall be a lady for ever: so that thou didst not lay these things to thy heart, neither didst remember the latter end of it.
Repeated in Rev.18:7 which we just covered above. She is unrepentant.
Isa.47:8] Therefore hear now this, thou that art given to pleasures, that dwellest carelessly, that sayest in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me; I shall not sit as a widow, neither shall I know the loss of children:
[9] But these two things shall come to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, and for the great abundance of thine enchantments.
For being false teachers and false prophets these things will come against you at the Judgement of the LORD. We have been reading here in Isaiah that their false idols have no power to give them. Neither will the antichrist save them at the coming of the true Christ.
Isa.47:10] For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
I AM is the LORD’s Holy name, and none else besides me is the LORD swearing by himself. This wickedness just called himself LORD. 2Thes.2:4.
Isa.47:11] Therefore shall evil come upon thee; thou shalt not know from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall upon thee; thou shalt not be able to put it off: and desolation shall come upon thee suddenly, which thou shalt not know.
They will go into captivity. They worship a false idol and those in the end times worship the antichrist. Jesus would teach this in Luke 17 and verse 25 reads.
Luke 17:25] But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.
Giving the two advents as a parable. With the rejection of this generation is the apostacy.
Luke 17:26] And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.
As in the days of Noah, 150 days or 5 months.
Luke 17:27] They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
The fallen angels came and polluted the seed of mother Eve. All but Noah and his wife, his three children and their wives, that’s eight in all. Another like is given.
Luke 17:28] Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
[29] But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.
[30] Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
[31] In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.
[32] Remember Lot’s wife.
I love how he brings us back to Lot’s wife. She looked back and was turned into a pillar of salt. So will it be for those who turn back to the evil of the end times.
Luke 17:33] Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.
[34] I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.
[35] Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
[36] Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Jesus is prophesying of the rapture doctrine. Do not be deceived, keep working in the field. The field is the world, and the one taken is taken by deception, the antichrist.
Luke 17:37] And they answered and said unto him, Where, Lord? And he said unto them, Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.
Think back to nakedness, the soul without the body. These eagles should have been translated vultures. Back to Isa.47 and verse 12 reads.
Isa.47:12] Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail.
Blinded by deception, they won’t even see it coming.
Isa.47:13] Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
Trusting in man and not in the LORD, let’s go to Jeremiah 17 and verse 5 reads.
Jer.17:5] Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
[6] For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
[7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
Can these stargazers or astrologers save you? Let’s go to Rev.21 and verse 8 reads.
Rev.21:8] But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
This is the death of their souls. Back to Isa.47 and verse 14 reads.
Isa.47:14] Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.
No coal for warmth or fire to sit before for comfort. This fire is a consuming fire, Hebrews 12 and verse 29 reads.
Heb.12:29] For our God is a consuming fire.
Back to Isa.47 and verse 15 reads.
Isa.47:15] Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured, even thy merchants, from thy youth: they shall wander every one to his quarter; none shall save thee.
They refuse to repent and come to the LORD, they have no Savior to save them. Let’s go to Rev.18 and verse 10 reads.
Rev.18:10] Standing afar off for the fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas, that great city Babylon, that mighty city! for in one hour is thy judgment come.
[11] And the merchants of the earth shall weep and mourn over her; for no man buyeth their merchandise any more:
Their deception has come to an end, and there is none to save her. Let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
