In today’s study, verse 1-5 are; The Spirit of God to be on Israel. Verses 6-20 are; The folly of Idolatry. Verses 21-28 are; The LORD the Redeemer of Israel. Before we start, I think it is important to remind everyone that Jacob’s name was changed to Israel. Now, when you hear Jacob, it always means all twelve tribes. Whereas Israel can mean all twelve tribes or just the ten tribes that separated themselves from the house of Judah becoming the house of Israel. This will matter as we will see in today’s lesson. Isaiah 44 and verse 1 reads.
Isa.44:1] Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
Speaking to all twelve tribes and also Israel, meaning the Christian nations of the end times. The chosen are his elect who he has chosen for these end times.
Isa.44:2] Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
Proof that life begins at conception, and that all souls were created by God. There cannot be an argument about “If” one can kill a soul in the womb if done by an evil act, for God creates every soul while in the womb. Let’s look at this word Jesurun, only found in 4 verses in the Old Testament. H3484 Yᵉshurûwn pronounced yesh-oo-roon’. (We can see the LORD’s name within it) and means; upright; {Jeshurun} a symbolical name for Israel. Jeshurun = “upright one”. 1. a symbolic name for Israel describing her ideal character. In other words, when Israel is fat and happy. Let’s go to Acts 2 and see why they are chosen.
Acts 2:17] And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
[18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:
This is our destiny, for both men and women of God. Back to Isa.44 and verse 3 reads.
Isa.44:3] For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
[4] And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses.
Jesus taught us this, let’s go to John 4 and pick it up with verse 9, and it reads.
John 4:9] Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
Here is where a lot of people go wrong. This Samaritan was an Israelite, of the ten tribes that separated from Judah during the time of Rehoboam the son of Solomon. 1Kings 12. But we know that God will join the two sticks together again at the coming of the LORD in the Day of the LORD.
John 4:10] Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
[11] The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Jacob’s well is 9 feet across and 75 feet deep. She is not getting it, but she will.
John 4:12] Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Jacob being the father of the twelve patriarchs dug this well.
John 4:13] Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
[14] But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
She will eventually get it, and will bring the whole town out to meet Christ. Many will be saved because of this one woman, whom Christ has chosen. A like for us in these end times. God will open the eyes and ears of his chosen, his Elect, in the end times when the whole world is deceived. He does this because of what is written in Amos 8:11 and it reads.
Amos 8:11] Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:
The famine is not for bread or water, but for hearing the words of the LORD. Many cannot understand this, but this is why we pray; Father open eyes and ears in Jesus’s precious name, Amen. We can now understand why we have been chosen. Back to Isa.44 and verse 5 reads.
Isa.44:5] One shall say, I am the LORD’s; and another shall call himself by the name of Jacob; and another shall subscribe with his hand unto the LORD, and surname himself by the name of Israel.
Let’s remember that Isaiah is prophesying for the end times. This verse has occurred to me to be the most boldest prophecy written in all of Isaiah for us today. Let’s break it down for we have three here. The first, One shall say I am the LORD’s, these are all the Christian nations of the world today. From Europe to Canada and down to Australia and New Zealand. These are the ten tribes, when released from captivity in Assyria, went over the Caucasus Mountains migrating throughout the western world of today. The second, shall call himself by the name of Jacob. This is America, all twelve tribes, as we learned in Isa.18, the LORD will gather all of Jacob to one place. It shall be divided by rivers and a land overflowing with milk and honey. And the third, shall write by his own hand unto the LORD and surname himself Israel. This is the house of Judah who has called himself Israel today. This is the beginning of the parable of the Fig Tree generation. It began in 1948. I find this verse very prophetic and was written boldly 2700 years ago.
Isa.44:6] Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Three earth and heaven ages given here again. Saying I am the first and the last speaking from the now, being the middle. God is a Jealous God, as we will see. Notice he says he is also our Redeemer, repent and be forgiven of all your sins, the beauty of Christianity. But now we go into the sins of his people, we will see that idolatry is a great sin. So, before we get in too deep, let me remind everyone of the Ten Commandments, after all this will be the first commandment from God. Exodus 20 and verse 3 reads.
Exo.20:3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
[4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:
[5] Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
This said of them that hate him, I say it will go down on all who hate even after the fourth generation.
Exo.20:6] And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
To love the LORD is to acknowledge there is but One God. Now we can read on with Isaiah 44 and verse 7 reads.
Isa.44:7] And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them.
Saying here it will happen exactly as it is written. Let the prophets and the law be written for our admonitions. Let’s go to 1Cor.10 and verse 6 reads.
1Cor.10:6] Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
[7] Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
We have our examples of idolaters throughout the Old Testament. We are reading about them in Isa.44 now.
1Cor.10:8] Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
You can find that written in Numbers 25:8.
1Cor.10:9] Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
You can find that written in Exodus 17:2-7.
1Cor.10:10] Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
You can find that written in Exodus 16:2.
1Cor.10:11] Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
All these things not only happened to them for our examples today, but are written for us to read and to know them. Keep studying God’s word and trust in God and not man. Back to Isa.44 and verse 8 reads.
Isa.44:8] Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
To those of us that read his word is who he is speaking to. We know there is but One God, he is our Rock. But there is another, the Kenites have their rock, lower case, and in the end times will deny the true Christ and worship the antichrist. Let’s go to the Song of Moses, and we will see how God has foretold us all things. Deu.32 and verse 36 reads.
Deu.32:36] For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
[37] And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
Notice the lowercase rock.
Deu.32:38] Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.
[39] See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
Notice the lowercase god also.
Deu.32:40] For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
[41] If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
His glittering sword is the Word of God. vengeance belongs to the LORD for this very reason, only he is Judge. Don’t overlook them that hate me, remember the first commandment. What is written will happen exactly as it is written. Back to Isa.44 and verse 9 reads.
Isa.44:9] They that make a graven image are all of them vanity; and their delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know; that they may be ashamed.
Their eyes are shut, they are in a stupor, they have no knowledge of God’s word. They will be so ashamed they will pray for mountains to fall on them. I’m going to let this read through, we are talking about those who fashion their own gods and whittle one out of a stick or melt one out of metal.
Isa.44:10] Who hath formed a god, or molten a graven image that is profitable for nothing?
[11] Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they are of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; yet they shall fear, and they shall be ashamed together.
[12] The smith with the tongs both worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with the strength of his arms: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth: he drinketh no water, and is faint.
He has no Living Water, Jesus Christ.
Isa.44:13] The carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man; that it may remain in the house.
The image is made likened unto a man because he knows not the LORD is Spirit.
Isa.44:14] He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest: he planteth an ash, and the rain doth nourish it.
[15] Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself; yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread; yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a graven image, and falleth down thereto.
He will cut down a tree for firewood, and then make an image out of what is left over and worship that.
Isa.44:16] He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth roast, and is satisfied: yea, he warmeth himself, and saith, Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:
Wait until they see the true fire. Heb.12:29 For our God is a consuming fire.
Isa.44:17] And the residue thereof he maketh a god, even his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth it, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou art my god.
That fire wood that he cut for cooking and keeping warm he makes a graven image and worships that? That my friends is what we call a fool.
Isa.44:18] They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
[19] And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the fire; yea, also I have baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
For God has shut their eyes, let’s go to 2Thes.2 and verse 9 reads.
2Thes.2:9] Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
[10] And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
[11] And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
[12] That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Back to Isa.44 and verse 20 reads.
Isa.44:20] He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand?
Those who worship the antichrist will be as these that make a graven image, they shall be consumed by fire. All they had to do was read his Word with understanding. Preachers and pastors beware, teach the word of God to the flock.
Isa.44:21] Remember these, O Jacob and Israel; for thou art my servant: I have formed thee; thou art my servant: O Israel, thou shalt not be forgotten of me.
Remember verse 5, there were three, now we have just two. Jacob (America) and Israel mentioned by name. We only are left, America and Israel of today. Look at Europe today, they have or are falling away (think of the apostasy) from God. The locust army has turned their backbones to mush.
Isa.44:22] I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, thy transgressions, and, as a cloud, thy sins: return unto me; for I have redeemed thee.
Remember when I explained about blotting out sin as a drop of water on the counter? Isa.43:25 take a paper towel and dab the drop of water and where did it go, it is as if it never existed. Let’s go to 1Cor.6 and verse 20 reads.
1Cor.6:20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
Now let’s go to 1Pet.1 and verse 17 reads.
1Pet.1:17] And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
[18] Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
[19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
God our Redeemer, Christ our Redeemer, the two are One. Back to Isa.44 and verse 23 reads.
Isa.44:23] Sing, O ye heavens; for the LORD hath done it: shout, ye lower parts of the earth: break forth into singing, ye mountains, O forest, and every tree therein: for the LORD hath redeemed Jacob, and glorified himself in Israel.
Hallelujah, praise the LORD for he has done this. The LORD has redeemed Jacob (all twelve tribes) and Israel (the house of Judah).
Isa.44:24] Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;
Again, we have from the womb he created all souls. Read Job chapters 38-39, and see it was God that created all things in a majestic way.
Isa.44:25] That frustrateth the tokens of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish;
God can open eyes and God can shut them. 2Thes.2:11 He has given them over to strong delusions. Let’s go to 1Cor.1 and verse 27 reads.
1Cor.1:27] But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Back to Isa.44 and verse 26 reads.
Isa.44:26] That confirmeth the word of his servant, and performeth the counsel of his messengers; that saith to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be inhabited; and to the cities of Judah, Ye shall be built, and I will raise up the decayed places thereof:
And what did his servant say? Let’s go to Matthew 5, and Jesus tells us how it is that he confirms the Word, and verse 17 reads.
Mat.5:17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
[19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
[20] For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Back to Isa.44 and verse 27 reads.
Isa.44:27] That saith to the deep, Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers:
When he speaks it happens exactly as he says, just ask Peter. Peter learned the hard way when he said to Jesus that he would give his life for Christ. Jesus had to remind him it was Jesus that was the Savior. And when the cock crowed, he found out the hard way.
Isa.44:28] That saith of Cyrus, He is my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
Isaiah is reminding you that he is prophesying 137 years before Cyrus was born. Not only his name but how God has chosen him to rebuild Jerusalem and the temple. Another great study today, let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
