This is one of the most difficult studies I need to do. Just reading about the crucifixion chokes me up. But it is a necessary study for all to understand. Let’s begin with 1Cor.1:23 and it reads.

1Cor.1:23] But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

Greeks can be translated as Gentiles. The gentiles seek intelligent debate, though with unbelievers it is most difficult. The Jews on the other hand should have known that the Messiah would come, but could not believe.

1Cor.1:24] But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

Don’t overlook “Called”, these are those chosen by God. Christ is the power of God, he defeated Death. And he is the wisdom of God, Jesus is the Word. Now let’s start this study of the crucifixion in Matthew 26:59 and it reads.

Mat.26:59] Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

They were looking for false witnesses from the beginning. Now don’t overlook they were planning from the beginning to put him to death. This proves here that the high priest were Kenites, the Serpent’s seed.

Mat.26:60] But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none. At the last came two false witnesses,
[61] And said, This fellow said, I am able to destroy the temple of God, and to build it in three days.

This is a lie, Jesus said if they destroyed it he would rebuild it in three days. Jesus was talking about his body, and on the third day he rose and defeated death.

Mat.26:62] And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what is it which these witness against thee?

Prophesied in Isaiah 53:7 and it reads.

Isa.53:7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.

Back to Mat.26 and verse 63 reads.

Mat.26:63] But Jesus held his peace. And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
[64] Jesus saith unto him, Thou hast said: nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.

Jesus said “I didn’t say that, you said that”. But then he lets us know that there would be a second advent.

Mat.26:65] Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy; what further need have we of witnesses? behold, now ye have heard his blasphemy.
[66] What think ye? They answered and said, He is guilty of death.

The only problem they have is only the Romans can put one to death under Roman rule. Now, many of the verses from here on were prophesied in the Old Testament. We will get to those in a minute.

Mat.26:67] Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him; and others smote him with the palms of their hands,
[68] Saying, Prophesy unto us, thou Christ, Who is he that smote thee?

You better believe Jesus knew exactly who it was who hit him. Let’s skip down to Mat.27 and it reads.

Mat.27:1] When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:
[2] And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

Showing that they broke their own laws, it was not legal for them to hold trial at night. Let’s pick it up again with verse 11.

Mat.27:11] And Jesus stood before the governor: and the governor asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And Jesus said unto him, Thou sayest.
[12] And when he was accused of the chief priests and elders, he answered nothing.
[13] Then said Pilate unto him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee?
[14] And he answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly.

Pilate knew that they were lying, he also knew that their night time trial was illegal under the Hebrew law.

Mat.27:15] Now at that feast the governor was wont to release unto the people a prisoner, whom they would.
[16] And they had then a notable prisoner, called Barabbas.

Interesting name, Barabbas; which means son of his father in Hebrew. What we have here is a murderer whose name is “Son of his father” a Kenite. And we have Jesus who is the Son of God. Who did they choose?

Mat.27:17] Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
[18] For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.

Pilate knew it was for envy because Jesus healed and they couldn’t.

Mat.27:19] When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him.
[20] But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.

Now we see these same in our streets today, they are not of God but of the Devil.

Mat.27:21] The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.
[22] Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified.
[23] And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
[24] When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it.
[25] Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children.

All the blood from righteous Abel to Zacharias who they slew between the porch and the altar, including John the Baptist and now Jesus the Christ will definitely be on them and their children. Because it is a generational seed. These are Kenites, of that wicked One.

Mat.27:26] Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.
[27] Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers.
[28] And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
[29] And when they had platted a crown of thorns, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying, Hail, King of the Jews!
[30] And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.
[31] And after that they had mocked him, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

This stirs me up with tremendous anger, but let’s continue.

Mat.27:32] And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.

Most people think this is a black man from northern Africa, because of Cyrene. Not so, one he has a Hebrew name, Simon; meaning a hearing. And two it was the time of Passover and all of Israel was to come to Jerusalem for the Passover.

Mat.27:33] And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
[34] They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.

This was prophesied in Psalms 69 and it reads.

Psa.69:21] They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.

Now there will be many more prophesies fulfilled as we continue. Back to Mat.27 and verse 35 reads.

Mat.27:35] And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

Psa.22:18 we’ll get there in a minute.

Mat.27:36] And sitting down they watched him there;
[37] And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Jesus is King of all of Israel and Judah is only one of the twelve tribes.

Mat.27:38] Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.

Written in Isa.53:9 and 12.

Mat.27:39] And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
[40] And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

They knew that they had false witnesses say this. Also prophesied in Psa.22.

Mat.27:41] Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
[42] He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.

Now they finally call him who he truly is, King of Israel, not just king of the Jews.

Mat.27:43] He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
[44] The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.

One of these thieves would believe later and repent and Jesus told him “This day you will see me in paradise”.

Mat.27:45] Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.

This brings us from noon until 3pm. The time of the evening oblation.

Mat.27:46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Some preachers would say that Jesus had a weak moment. I say that Jesus (God with us) never had a weak moment. Jesus was the teacher of teachers. He was teaching, he was saying go back and read Psalms 22. Jesus never called him God, he always called him Father. But, king David did, and king David prophesied of Jesus’s crucifixion a thousand years before it even happened. Let’s go to Psa.22 and it reads.

Psa.22:1] My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

You see, Jesus didn’t have a weak moment, he was teaching.

Psa.22:2] O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

Notice it is David who calls him God.

Psa.22:3] But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
[4] Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

Didn’t the high priest quote this in Mat.27:43.

Psa.22:5] They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
[6] But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
[7] All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head saying,
[8] He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

Fulfilled in Mat.27:39-40.

Psa.22:9] But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts.
[10] I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly.
[11] Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
[12] Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
[13] They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
[14] I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.

His bones were pulled out of socket as he was hanging on the cross. Remember this is written a thousand years before it happened.

Psa.22:15] My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
[16] For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet.

They nailed him to the cross. They never put to death a man in this way before the Romans. This also brings to mind the first prophesy in God’s word, Gen.3:15 and it reads.

Gen.3:15] And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

They bruised his heels when they nailed them to the cross. Notice it is the serpent’s seed that does this. Back to Psa.22 and verse 17 reads.

Psa.22:17] I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
[18] They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.

This prophesy was fulfilled in Mat.27:35.

Psa.22:19] But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
[20] Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.

The word darling should have also been translated as Soul.

Psa.22:21] Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.

Something is wrong here, there is no such thing as a unicorn. This is wild ox in the Hebrew.

Psa.22:22] I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
[23] Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
[24] For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.

God heard, never think that Jesus was alone on that cross.

Psa.22:25] My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
[26] The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.

The meek shall inherit the earth. Mat.5:5.

Psa.22:27] All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.

All will bow before him at the seventh trump. Rom.14:11.

Psa.22:28] For the kingdom is the LORD’s: and he is the governor among the nations.
[29] All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
[30] A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.

This seed is his elect in this generation, the generation of the fig tree.

Psa.22:31] They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Remember this “That he hath done this”. We’ll come back to it later. Now, we see that Jesus did not have a weak moment on the cross but that he was teaching. Let’s go back to Mat.27 and pick it up with verse 47 and it reads.

Mat.27:47] Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.

Elias is Greek for Elijah.

Mat.27:48] And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
[49] The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
[50] Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

Jesus cried again. It is written in John 19:30 what he cried. Let’s read John 19:30.

John 19:30] When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

This “It is finished” is equivalent to Psalms 22:31 “That he hath done this” proving that Jesus taught the whole of Psalms 22. Back to Mat.27 and verse 51 reads.

Mat.27:51] And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

This would be at 3pm. At this time the high priest would have been standing before this veil about to give the evening oblation. Notice it is rent from the top to the bottom. Right before the high priest’s very own eyes the LORD opened the holy of holies for all to come to him without a priest. That is for you and me without anyone between us and the LORD.

Mat.27:52] And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
[53] And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

This was a one time thing to show them that Christ had overcome death.

Mat.27:54] Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

Even the Roman centurion became a believer. An emotional study for me but knowing that all was prophesied throughout God’s word brings comfort. From Moses to king David and Isaiah. God’s word will come to pass exactly as it is written. Remember, “Without the first six chapters of Genesis, it is impossible to understand the end”. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
