JOHN 15

Another great chapter today so let’s get started, John 15 and verse 1 reads.

John 15:1] I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Jesus is the vine, Father is the husbandman. Adam was Gods choice for his husbandman in the garden. And yet he sinned, and was cast out of the garden. Man in the flesh cannot be trusted with righteousness. The flesh is so hard to overcome. This is why we needed a Savior. We needed God to come in the flesh to save the world, would the world hear him?

John 15:2] Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

You and I are the branches. If you will bring forth fruit, he then will purge you, and you will bring forth more fruit. He will open your eyes so that you can bring more to the word of God. this is that parable that Jesus taught when he gave 5 talents to one man and he brought forth 10.

John 15:3] Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Jesus is the Living Word. When he speaks and you hear, then your eyes being opened makes you clean.

John 15:4] Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

Remember chapter 14 when he says if you are in him then he is within you. Then, and only then, can you produce fruit. It is this fruit that we are working to produce for the LORD. It is our “works”, the only thing we can take with us into heaven.

John 15:5] I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
[6] If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Without good works we are purged. We are cast into the fire. As his chosen, or his Elect, we have been given great responsibility to “Do” his will. and of course we want to please the Lord.

John 15:7] If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Again, he tells us that if we ask in his will, John 14, that it will be given to us. anything you ask of him he will give to you. But you must ask in his “Will”. If you ask for the bricks he will give them to you, but you must do the building.

John 15:8] Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
[9] As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
[10] If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.

So keeping his commandments is doing his will and keeping his love. Remember if you love Jesus then he is within you and so is the Father. What is his commandments? Haven’t you read. It’s the Word of God.

John 15:11] These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
[12] This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

He is talking to his disciples, not to those that hate him.  To say that Jesus loves all is a big mistake. Jesus does not love all. Those that hate the Father will be purged in the fire.

John 15:13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

No doubt the greatest thing a man can do for someone else. This is why our veterans are indeed the greatest heroes in our country. Remember them on Veterans Day.

John 15:14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Jesus just called us friends. How awesome is that. But read it carefully, it came with a condition. Whatever I command you. Keep his commandments.

John 15:15] Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.

Jesus is the Living Word. He has just called you his friends, and by that he too came in the flesh. But he came to be crucified for your sins. he loves you that much. No greater love hath a man than to lay down his life for others. And Jesus told us in Mark 13:30 “behold I have foretold you all things”. Jesus is the Living Word.

John 15:16] Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

“Chosen “. Jesus is talking to his elect here. those that have had their eyes opened by the Lord. Jesus just said that whatever you ask for, in his name, the Father would give to you. It is for bringing forth fruit. And he says you can judge them by their fruits. Another condition was given here, you must “Do” the works.

John 15:17] These things I command you, that ye love one another.
[18] If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you.

Love each other, those that love me. not those that hate me. that’s how you know your doing it right, they that hate him will hate you.

John 15:19] If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

To love this world is to hate the Father. Again, he says he has chosen you out of this world. If you are in his word, then you are of him and not of this world. And the world will hate you also.

John 15:20] Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

This is what we do, we teach his word to the world. And they will except his word from you or they will hate you.

John 15:21] But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me.

For his namesake, Christians. And they know not him that sent you either.

John 15:22] If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin.

John 9:39-41 he told this to a pharisee. Let’s read it again.

John 9:39] And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
[40] And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
[41] Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Back to John 15 and verse 23 reads.

John 15:23] He that hateth me hateth my Father also.
[24] If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
[25] But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

These Kenites who claim to sit in the seat of Moses can’t even read what was written in the law. .Psa.69:4 reads.

Psa.69:4] They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away.

When Jesus says it is written we should always go back to read what more we can get out of it. And it will always teach us more to understand what Jesus is talking about and what his feelings are. Back to John and verse 26 reads.

John 15:26] But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

This is the Holy Spirit. Given to us after Jesus died on the cross for you and me. find time to read Acts 2 and Joel 2. It explains the Holy Spirit given to us.

John 15:27] And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

This he spoke to his disciples for that moment. It was the twelve that were there from the beginning of his ministries.

Now we have studied his word today and I find it in my heart to tell you that some will tell you we must love everyone. This is not true. For some hate the Father and the Son. They will hate you also. This is what Jesus taught us today. Jesus was talking to His disciples, and you also, telling us that not everyone is of God. remember there are two fathers. Elijah would come and turn their hearts back to their fathers, plural. They will hate you for his namesake, because we are Christians. Let’s go to his throne.

Father we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
