Today’s titles are; Verses 1-21 I Am the good Shepherd. Verses 22-42 I and My Father are One. John 10 and verse 1 reads.
John 10:1] Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
He is speaking about false teachers in our churches. Let’s go to Malachi 3 and verse 8 reads.
Mal.3:8] Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.
[9] Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation.
Those who receive tithes and offerings are the rulers of the synagogue. They are to take care of the widow’s and the orphans. Let’s go to Isaiah 10 and verse 1 reads.
Isa.10:1] Woe unto them that decree unrighteous decrees, and that write grievousness which they have prescribed;
[2] To turn aside the needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may rob the fatherless!
These false teachers will answer to God. I thank God that judgement begins at the pulpit. 1Peter 4:17. Back to John 10 and verse 2 reads.
John 10:2] But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
[3] To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
He knows his Elect and will send them out to feed his lambs, feed his sheep. A Christians job is to learn his Word, then broadcast his seed to the world. We plant the seed, but only God can make it grow. Jesus is the Living Word. The Word of God is what we feed his sheep. What these thieves or robbers that are in the house of the LORD are doing is taking the tithes or love offerings and not teaching the Word of God to his sheep. The sheep belong to the LORD.
John 10:4] And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
We follow Jesus, the Word of God, this is very important for us to understand in this chapter.
John 10:5] And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
Let’s go to 2Corinthians 11 and verse 13 reads.
2Cor.11:13] For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
[14] And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
[15] Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.
Let’s look at this word Transformed. It is G3345 metaschēmatizō pronounced met-askh-ay-mat-id’-zo and means; To disguise. Satan is disguised as Jesus Christ but is the antichrist. His angels that he brings with him when Michael kicks them out of heaven are disguised also. For God’s Elect it is very important to understand this considering 1Cor.10:11 tells us all these things happen for examples to those in the end times. do not overlook verse 13, for false apostles (sent ones) are deceitful workers within the churches today. Back to John 10 and verse 6 reads.
John 10:6] This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
They could not understand the parable. Jesus will explain in a way that all should know and understand.
John 10:7] Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
[8] All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
[9] I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
He shall be free indeed. To go in to absorb the Word of God and go out to teach. Let’s go to Ephesians 2 and verse 17 reads.
Eph.2:17] And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.
[18] For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
[19] Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
[20] And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
[21] In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
[22] In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
As one body, the church is built for the habitation of the LORD. We are to teach the whole Word of God, from Genesis through Revelation. Back to John 10 and verse 10 reads.
John 10:10] The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
Apollyon means; Destroyer. Another name for Satan. Jesus means; Yah’s Savior.
John 10:11] I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
Let’s go to Isaiah 40 and verse 10 reads.
Isa.40:10] Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
[11] He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Now let’s go to Ezekiel 34 and verse 22 reads.
Eze.34:22] Therefore will I save my flock, and they shall no more be a prey; and I will judge between cattle and cattle.
[23] And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
This servant David is Jesus Christ, out of the loins of Jesse.
Eze.34:24] And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.
[25] And I will make with them a covenant of peace, and will cause the evil beasts to cease out of the land: and they shall dwell safely in the wilderness, and sleep in the woods.
The New Covenant, the body of Jesus Christ as the Lamb of God.
Eze.34:26] And I will make them and the places round about my hill a blessing; and I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing.
This season is for us in these end times. Our eyes and ears will be opened to his Truth, the Word of God. That we might come in and absorb the Word of God and go out to teach the Truth to his children. Back to John 10 and verse 12 reads.
John 10:12] But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
Those pastors who teach falsely for the money and have no truth in them, scatter the sheep with lies. Think of Eve eating an apple, for example, now the children have no clue that the serpent in the garden was Satan or even who the Kenites are.
John 10:13] The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
[14] I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.
Let’s go to 2Timothy 2 and verse 16 reads.
2Tim.2:16] But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
[17] And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus;
[18] Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
It is false teaching that overthrows the Faith of his children. Back to John 10 and verse 15 reads.
John 10:15] As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.
Let’s go to John 15 and verse 13 reads.
John 15:13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Back to John 10 and verse 16 reads.
John 10:16] And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Let’s go to Isaiah 56 and verse 6 reads.
Isa.56:6] Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
A lot said in that verse. Gentiles will call themselves Christians. And will keep the sabbath, Jesus became our Passover, the highest sabbath. Takes hold of the covenant, be a doer of his Word.
Isa.56:7] Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
[8] The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
Even the Gentiles will have Salvation, if they believe on Jesus Christ the Word of God. Back to John 10 and verse 17 reads.
John 10:17] Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
The prophecy of the crucifixion of our Lord Jesus Christ is best said in Isaiah 53 and verse 5 reads.
Isa.53:5] But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
[6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
It was our sins that were laid on Jesus Christ, he had none.
Isa.53:7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
[8] He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
[9] And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
[10] Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
The first prophecy in God’s Word was Gen.3:15, and they shall bruise your heels. They nailed them to the cross.
Isa.53:11] He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.
[12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
God’s plan all along was for his selfless act of being crucified for the sins of the world to be put on himself. That by belief on him being the Son of God and for repentance we shall have Life Everlasting. Let’s go to Hebrews 2 and verse 9 reads.
Heb.2:9] But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.
Back to John 10 and verse 18 reads.
John 10:18] No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.
Let’s go back to John 2 and verse 19 reads.
John 2:19] Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Back to John 10 and verse 19 reads.
John 10:19] There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.
This division is not only of the Pharisees and Sadducees, but of the people of Jerusalem. Many are deceived by the chief priests and Pharisees, but others, who know that scripture speaks of the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Let’s go back to John 7 and verse 40 reads.
John 7:40] Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
[41] Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
[42] Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?
[43] So there was a division among the people because of him.
And John 9 and verse 16 reads.
John 9:16] Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
Now let’s go to Luke 12 and verse 51 reads.
Luke 12:51] Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:.
This division is between the woman’s seed and the serpent’s seed, between God’s children who have the truth and the Kenites. Back to John 10 and verse 20 reads.
John 10:20] And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?
[21] Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
Brings up the man born blind from chapter 9, this will sting them. Let’s go to Exodus 4 and verse 11 reads.
Exo.4:11] And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?
[12] Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Keeping with the topic of teaching others, some are false teachers. But God opens the eyes of his Elect so that they can teach others the Truth of his Word. Back to John 10 and verse 22 reads.
John 10:22] And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
This feast of the dedication is the Feast of lights, or Hanukkah. It is a tradition of men and not a feast of the LORD. The LORD said to have but three feast for him, Passover, Feast of Weeks or Pentecost and Feast of Tabernacles. You will notice that Jesus is not there for the celebration of this feast.
John 10:23] And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon’s porch.
Only Israelites could go past Solomon’s porch. Let’s go to 1Kings 7 and verse 12 reads.
1Kings 7:12] And the great court round about was with three rows of hewed stones, and a row of cedar beams, both for the inner court of the house of the LORD, and for the porch of the house.
We see here that Solomon’s porch was in the inner court of the house of the LORD. Back to John 10 and verse 24 reads.
John 10:24] Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
[25] Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
Here the division reveals itself. They did not believe the words of Moses, Deut.18:15-18.
John 10:26] But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Telling us they were Kenites, remember John 8 and verse 47 reads.
John 8:47] He that is of God heareth God’s words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.
If you still are having trouble understanding, then go back and study John 8 again. Back to John 10 and verse 27 reads.
John 10:27] My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
His voice is the Word of God, the whole Word of God from Genesis through Revelation. This is why Jesus is the stumbling block for the Jews. They crucified the LORD.
John 10:28] And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Perish is final, proving no one is frying like bacon forever. Only eternal life is forever. Thank you, Father.
John 10:29] My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
Best taught by Jesus in John 17, the true LORD’s Prayer, we’ll get there in a few days.
John 10:30] I and my Father are one.
In John 14 Jesus says If you’ve seen me, you have seen the Father. Isaiah 7:14, Immanuel, God with us. And John 1:14 says The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit are One. Again, this is a stumbling block for the Jews because they crucified Jesus.
John 10:31] Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
They did this also in John 8:59 after Jesus proved they were Kenites, hence the word Again.
John 10:32] Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
For which miracle or for which devil I casted out do you stone me? Could your high priests cast out the devils or heal anyone?
John 10:33] The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
Others had accused him of blasphemy when he healed a man stricken with palsy. Let’s go to Matthew 9 and verse 3 reads.
Mat.9:3] And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.
[4] And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
[5] For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?
[6] But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.
[7] And he arose, and departed to his house.
Not one of them knew God’s Word, if they had, they would have known Isaiah 7:14, A virgin shall conceive and call his name Emmanuel, God with us. Back to John 10 and verse 34 reads.
John 10:34] Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Written in Psalms 82 and verse 6 reads.
Psa.82:6] I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
We are God’s, it is a declaration of ownership. We belong to God. It is also written in Ezekiel 18 and verse 4 reads.
Eze.18:4] Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.
Back to John 10 and verse 35 reads.
John 10:35] If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
What is written will happen exactly as it is written. The reason we study to show ourselves approved.
John 10:36] Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
We are all the sons of God, but Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. Jesus will now give a lesson for us to know who is a son of God, and who is of that wicked one.
John 10:37] If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.
[38] But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
How could anyone heal a man blind from birth? How could anyone cast out a devil? These works are of God, believe on Jesus and you will have everlasting life. Believe them not, and receive damnation. Let’s go to John 14 and verse 10 reads.
John 14:10] Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
[11] Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.
Believe the Word of God, in Deuteronomy 18:15-18 Moses tells us in the law that the Messiah would come. Back to John 10 and verse 39 reads.
John 10:39] Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,
It was not his time, for it was winter. Jesus was the Passover Lamb, and would be crucified for the sins of the world on Passover.
John 10:40] And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.
Where he also baptized Jesus.
John 10:41] And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.
[42] And many believed on him there.
The voice crying in the wilderness spoke of what Jesus would do, and he did it exactly as John the Baptist said he would do. John the Baptist did a wonderful job preparing the way for the LORD. Let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
