No one should come between you and God

JOHN 7

Another good study today, so let’s get right into it. John 7 and verse 1 reads.

John 7:1] After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Jewry, because the Jews sought to kill him.

Jewry is a made-up word. It should have been translated Judea, the area that was given to the tribe of Judah. Because the pharisees wanted to kill him along with the high priest.

John 7:2] Now the Jews’ feast of tabernacles was at hand.

This is the third and final High Sabbath of the year. When you have a high sabbath in a week there is normally 2 sabbath’s that week.

John 7:3] His brethren therefore said unto him, Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that thy disciples also may see the works that thou doest.
[4] For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, shew thyself to the world.
[5] For neither did his brethren believe in him.

These brethren are not of the twelve. These are those that a prophet is not honored by in his home town.

John 7:6] Then Jesus said unto them, My time is not yet come: but your time is alway ready.
[7] The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.

They won’t hate you yet, but when you are called by my name (Christians) they will hate you also.

John 7:8] Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.
[9] When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee.
[10] But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

Jesus would make himself known, but not for travel.

John 7:11] Then the Jews sought him at the feast, and said, Where is he?
[12] And there was much murmuring among the people concerning him: for some said, He is a good man: others said, Nay; but he deceiveth the people.

They say that Jesus deceives the people? Kind of like our politicians today, calling the other guy a liar when they themselves are lying.

John 7:13] Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
[14] Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught.
[15] And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?

Jesus didn’t go to their schools to learn Gods word, so they wondered. Jesus is Gods Word. And the Word became flesh and walked among us.

John 7:16] Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
[17] If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

We just studied the Will of God. John 6:40 tells us the will of God is that everyone believes on the Son and shall have everlasting life.

John 7:18] He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
[19] Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me?

Strait up told them that they are Kenites. Children of Cain, the first murderer. They claim to be Jews but are not and lie and are of the synagogue of Satan. Rev.2:9.

John 7:20] The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee?
[21] Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel.
[22] Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man.
[23] If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day?

This means there is no law against healing on the sabbath days. Yet they want to kill (The Son of God) because he heals on the sabbath. Which is against the law? He that heals or he that kills?

John 7:24] Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.
[25] Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill?
[26] But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ?

Best question of the day. Did in fact they know he was the Christ? Yes, they did. And they know the rulers are Kenites also.

John 7:27] Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
[28] Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

Speaking of the LORD. How could they know the Lord when their rulers and priest don’t teach the truth. This is why judgement begins at the pulpit.

John 7:29] But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me.
[30] Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.

This is not the Passover, but only the feast of tabernacles. Jesus is our Passover Lamb.

John 7:31] And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
[32] The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.

Good luck in taking him from the people that think he is the Christ.

John 7:33] Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.

Jesus is speaking of his crucifixion. And that he would ascend up to the Father, but this will confuse a lot of the people.

John 7:34] Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
[35] Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
[36] What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

Flesh cannot enter into heaven. But, one day they shall stand before him. As for these Gentiles, they knew he was the Christ, so they must have been talking about the “ten tribes”. Would he go to them, well he has already gone to them and would again soon.

John 7:37] In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
[38] He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

This is what Isaiah chapter 12 is all about, let’s read it.

Isa.12:1] And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me.
[2] Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.
[3] Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation.
[4] And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
[5] Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
[6] Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of thee.

Back to John and verse 39 reads.

John 7:39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

This we will cover in Acts 2. Because Jesus comes for Salvation, when he is ascended, he will give us the Comforter, his Holy Spirit.

John 7:40] Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet.
[41] Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
[42] Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

Now we know that Jesus was born in Bethlehem. And that Joseph took him into Egypt because Harod was going to kill all babies under 2 years of age. Joseph then brought him back and went into Nazareth. All of this fulfilling the prophets. But notice that “Key of David” that these others had.

John 7:43] So there was a division among the people because of him.

This should remind you of what Jesus said in Luke 12:51. Let’s go and read it again.

Luke 12:51] Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:

Don’t think Christ came for unity or peace. He came to find out if you will love him or Satan. Back to John and verse 44 reads.

John 7:44] And some of them would have taken him; but no man laid hands on him.
[45] Then came the officers to the chief priests and Pharisees; and they said unto them, Why have ye not brought him?
[46] The officers answered, Never man spake like this man.

In other words, they told them that Jesus spoke truth, truth we never heard you speak.

John 7:47] Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived?
[48] Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him?

Yes, two believed, Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus.

John 7:49] But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

Couldn’t have said it better, these pharisees just passed judgement on themselves by their own mouths. For they know not the laws.

John 7:50] Nicodemus saith unto them, (he that came to Jesus by night, being one of them,)
[51] Doth our law judge any man, before it hear him, and know what he doeth?
[52] They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
[53] And every man went unto his own house.

For telling a truth the pharisees just bashed one of their own. Nicodemus just said the most logical and intelligent things anyone has said so far. And they mocked him. And by the way, many prophets came from Galilee. Elisha for one and there were many more. Expect this today from those around you as you teach the truth. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
