Therefore, shows us that chapter 5 continues with verse 1. Heb.6 and verse 1 reads.

Heb.6:1] Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,

Perfection again is maturity. Leaving the doctrine of Christ however means when we sin, we leave the word of God, our Christ, now we need to repent for those sins. How can we ask for forgiveness if we don’t know our sins? Simple, God has given us unction for the knowledge of sin.

Heb.6:2] Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.

Salvation and baptism, ok, but let’s give them meat now, for unto eternal life we must be judged of our sins in the flesh.

Heb.6:3] And this will we do, if God permit.
[4] For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

Holy Spirit.

Heb.6:5] And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

Jesus is the living word, his resurrection allows for our life eternal, this is the power of the world to come.

Heb.6:6] If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Don’t say “Once saved always saved”. This is a tradition of men and is a lie. Know this, when we fall short, as many do, repent of those sins and be forgiven. Do not hide it from the Father because only he knows your heart. Also, do not be baptized again, whether going from church to church. One baptism for all time. Sprinkling doesn’t count, because the child is not confessing that “Jesus died on the cross” (going under the water), suffering death.  “And rose again”, (coming out of the water), the resurrection, and has overcome death.

Heb.6:7] For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:

Blessings from God for those that receive him. Let’s go to Zechariah 10:1 and it reads.

Zech.10:1] Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

Back to Heb.6 and verse 8 reads.

Heb.6:8] But that which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing; whose end is to be burned.

Let’s go to Isa.9:16-18 and it reads.

Isa.9:16] For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed.
[17] Therefore the Lord shall have no joy in their young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand is stretched out still.
18] For wickedness burneth as the fire: it shall devour the briers and thorns, and shall kindle in the thickets of the forest, and they shall mount up like the lifting up of smoke.

The Lord will not hold back his “Cup of wrath” that must be poured out. Back to Heb.6 and verse 9 reads.

Heb.6:9] But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

Yes, we teach Salvation and Baptism, but also the whole Word of God, including the prophecies of the end times. This is written in Rev.19:10 and it reads.

Rev.19:10] And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

This would be the Meat of God’s Word. Salvation is prophesied in the prophets that the Messiah would come, and he did. Back to Heb.6 and verse 10 reads.

Heb.6:10] For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.

God rewards those that work for him and those that don’t. Let’s go to Luke 19 and read the parable that Jesus gave to us. A master gave one pound to each servant and upon his return is our example. Luke 19:15-26 and it reads.

Luke 19:15] And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.
[16] Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.
[17] And he said unto him, Well, thou good servant: because thou hast been faithful in a very little, have thou authority over ten cities.
[18] And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.
[19] And he said likewise to him, Be thou also over five cities.
[20] And another came, saying, Lord, behold, here is thy pound, which I have kept laid up in a napkin:
[21] For I feared thee, because thou art an austere man: thou takest up that thou layedst not down, and reapest that thou didst not sow.

Convicted by his own mouth.

Luke 19:22] And he saith unto him, Out of thine own mouth will I judge thee, thou wicked servant. Thou knewest that I was an austere man, taking up that I laid not down, and reaping that I did not sow:
[23] Wherefore then gavest not thou my money into the bank, that at my coming I might have required mine own with usury?
[24] And he said unto them that stood by, Take from him the pound, and give it to him that hath ten pounds.
[25] (And they said unto him, Lord, he hath ten pounds.)
[26] For I say unto you, That unto every one which hath shall be given; and from him that hath not, even that he hath shall be taken away from him.

The master said to give it to the one that he knew would be prosperous with the pound. The Lord has given his word to us, we are to plant seeds with it. We are to do the works of him that sends us into the world, and not to hide it from the world. At the white throne judgement we all receive our rewards. Whether good or bad, we receive what we deserve. Back to Heb.6 and verse 11 reads.

Heb.6:11] And we desire that every one of you do shew the same diligence to the full assurance of hope unto the end:
[12] That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Be a doer of his word, of his will, that all come to repentance. Through faith and patience, we inherit his promises. I know patience is the hardest, but don’t overlook this promise. It is written in Isa.43:25-26.

Isa.43:25] I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
[26] Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

Saying here “remind me of my promises” that I might justify you. The Lord didn’t forget his promises, he wants to know if you have read them. Have you read and know his promises? Back to Heb.6 and verse 13 reads.

Heb.6:13] For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
[14] Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee.
[15] And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

This is written in Gen.15:2-6.

Gen.15:2] And Abram said, Lord GOD, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?
[3] And Abram said, Behold, to me thou hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine heir.
[4] And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
[5] And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
[6] And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.

The seed would come through Isaac, speaking of the Messiah, the Christ. A great deal of patience and faith was required of Abraham since he was 100 yrs. old.  Back to Heb.6 and verse 16 reads.

Heb.6:16] For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.

Speaking of the commitment, the contract of inheritance.

Heb.6:17] Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

We are the heirs, his oath was given by himself, he gave us his Word. This is why Father wants us to be mature in his word. Show the world you are Christ men, Christian.

Heb.6:18] That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

These two are Abraham and Sarah in which the promise was given. The hope is our Salvation.

Heb.6:19] Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;

The hope is Jesus Christ. It was him that tore the veil allowing us to go to the father without a high priest between us and him.

Heb.6:20] Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.

God holds nothing back from his election. Those that love the Lord, and have been given eyes to see, that the Lord, Jesus, is the high priest and king, King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Melchizedek. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
