We begin this chapter with domestic regulations. Titus 2 and verse 1 reads.

Titus 2:1] But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

For the pastors, bishops and elders. Teach the doctrine of Jesus Christ.

Titus 2:2] That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

Sober is G3524, which means vigilant. Grave is G4586, which means honorable. Temperate is G4998, means of a sound mind, sane. Charity is love.

Titus 2:3] The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

Same for the women as for the man, but also not a gossiper.

Titus 2:4] That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

To love their husbands, these husbands in the Greek are men who love the Lord.

Titus 2:5] To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Be good that the Word not be blasphemed. Two become one flesh.

Titus 2:6] Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

Raise your children in the word, bring them up in discipline. Eph.6:4 and it reads.

Eph.6:4] And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

Back to Titus 2 and verse 7 reads.

Titus 2:7] In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

These are values that make a family rich. 1Tim.4:12.

Titus 2:8] Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

Protect your credibility.

Titus 2:9] Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

Whether this be for a slave or a common worker, always do the best job you can. This gives glory to the Father. Let’s go back to Ephesians 6:5-9 and it reads.

Eph.6:5] Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
[6] Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
[7] With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
[8] Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

And for the masters or employers.

Eph.6:9] And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.

Always be a good example of Christ to others. Back to Titus 2 and verse 10 reads.

Titus 2:10] Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

Purloining means stealing or embezzlement. What this is saying is don’t steal from God what credit he deserves and not you. We should give all credit to the Lord.

Titus 2:11] For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

Let’s go to Rom.5:15 and it reads.

Rom.5:15] But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

And in 2Pet.3:9 it reads.

2Pet.3:9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Back to Titus 2 and verse 12 reads.

Titus 2:12] Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
[13] Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

Waiting for the second advent, the seventh trump.

Titus 2:14] Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Let’s go to Isa.53:12 and it reads.

Isa.53:12] Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

He died for our sins, so that we on repentance are forgiven. Back to Titus 2 and verse 15 reads.

Titus 2:15] These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

Teach the Word without apology, and rebuke them that teach falsely with the authority given to you by God. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
