We will finish 1Timothy today. 1Tim.6 and verse 1 reads.
1Tim.6:1] Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
This is saying that a servant (slave) should serve his master honorably, as Christians this gives God and his word Glory. Let’s go to Ephesians 6:5-8, and it reads.
Eph.6:5] Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;
Serve them as unto Christ.
Eph.6:6] Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;
[7] With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:
[8] Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free. [9] And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
We are to let the Light of Christ shine through us, giving all glory to God. This is well pleasing to the Lord, and your reward is in heaven. Back to 1Tim.6 and verse 2 reads.
1Tim.6:2] And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.
Teach these things among the brethren. Exhort G3870 in the Greek, and can mean; Either to admonish or to encourage. I believe within the context it means to encourage, strengthen, instruct.
1Tim.6:3] If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness;
If any teach another doctrine know that they are an antichrist, “anti” means “instead of”. 2John 1:10-11 reads.
2John.1:10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
[11] For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
Back to 1Tim.6 and verse 4 reads.
1Tim.6:4] He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
[5] Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
Withdraw from these people and stay away from them. Remember they are antichrist.
1Tim.6:6] But godliness with contentment is great gain.
This word contentment is only used once in all of the bible. It is G841, autarkeia in the Greek. And means; self-satisfaction that is (abstractly) contentedness or (concretely) a competence. Sufficiency of the necessities of life. In other words, having peace of mind knowing our rewards are in heaven.
1Tim.6:7] For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
In Job, Job finds out he lost everything, his cattle, his sheep, his servants, and finally all of his own children died. How did Job react? 1:20-22 reads.
Job 1:20] Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
[21] And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
[22] In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
After all that Job lost, he sinned not, but worshipped God. Back to 1Tim.6 and verse 8 reads.
1Tim.6:8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
[9] But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
[10] For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
Be content with what you have, lusting after nobody’s blessings. That would be coveting thy neighbor, the tenth commandment. It isn’t the money that is evil, it is “The love for the money.” The Lord has a way of blessing his children here in the flesh. But let us be rich in works and his Word, this richness is talked about in Revelations. Rev.2:9 and it reads.
Rev.2:9] I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
Those in poverty can make the biggest difference in the world by teaching the Word of God. Back to 1Tim.6 and verse 11 reads.
1Tim.6:11] But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
Leave those things that are evil for those things that are good.
1Tim.6:12] Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Faith is our Shield and Christ is our Salvation to eternal life. You are called, answer in the name of the Lord, teach others the word that was given to you by God.
1Tim.6:13] I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession;
Prophesied by Isaiah in 53:7, fulfilled in Mat.27:11.
Isa.53:7] He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Back to 1Tim.6 and verse 14 reads.
1Tim.6:14] That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
This is a commandment from God, keep yourselves clean and without blemish. How? By repentance our sins are blotted out as if they never existed. Also notice the second advent spoken of here, study to show thyself approved.
1Tim.6:15] Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
[16] Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen.
Jesus (Melchisedek) only has deathlessness (immortality). He alone came through this flesh without sin, and died for our sins. Honor and power is our Salvation, from his blood on the cross we have repentance.
1Tim.6:17] Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
Let’s go to Jer.9:23-24 and it reads.
Jer.9:23] Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
[24] But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.
Back to 1Tim.6 and verse 18 reads.
1Tim.6:18] That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
[19] Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
Find those that are without hope (Jesus), and teach them these things. That God loves them, and he wants all to come to repentance and be blessed by him.
1Tim.6:20] O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called:
Science should align with God’s word, if it is not, then it is a lie and a false teaching.
1Tim.6:21] Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.
Erred from faith in Jesus Christ, the Word of God. A great book from Paul to all who work in the ministry of Jesus Christ, meaning those who teach the word of God among the churches. Also, for the bishops of families, who’s house is also a church of God. Fathers and mothers should teach their children and bring them up in the Word and not of their own hearts. God bless you and have a wonderful day in the LORD, let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
