Today’s study will be very interesting. Wanting to do a study on witnessing I found great pleasure in truth, proving the importance of having a Strongs’ Concordance. First, we find Witness and Testimony are the same Strongs’ numbers that have a whole different meaning than we might have suspected. We will start with G3140 Martureō in the Greek, and means; To be a witness, to bear witness, i.e. to affirm that one has seen or heard or experienced something, or that he knows it because taught by divine revelation or inspiration. And it comes from G3144. As does G3141, G3142. Now let’s look at this G3144. It is Martus in the Greek and means Martyr. Those who after his example have proved the strength and genuineness of their faith in Christ by undergoing a violent death. Now G3141 is Marturia in the Greek, and means; The office committed to the prophets of testifying concerning future events, also from G3144. And next is G3142 Marturion also Martyr. And means Testimony. Also, from G3144. This brings to me a whole different understanding of the Prophets, the Apostles, and our future. With that let’s begin with John the Baptist in St. John chapter 1 and verse 6 reads.
John 1:6] There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
[7] The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
This witness is G3141 and is for prophets. And are they going to hear one.
John 1:8] He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
[9] That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
[10] He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
Nothing that was made was made without him. Of course, this Light is Jesus Christ.
John 1:11] He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
[12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
[13] Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
[14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
[15] John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.
Let’s remember that G3141 comes from G3144. Also remember witness is a testimony.
John 1:16] And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
[17] For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
[18] No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
[19] And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou?
[20] And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ.
[21] And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
They were asking him are you Elijah and he said No.
John 1:22] Then said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us. What sayest thou of thyself?
[23] He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.
Saying that the prophet Isaiah spoke of him. Isa.40:3.
John 1:24] And they which were sent were of the Pharisees.
[25] And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
Why baptize if you’re not Christ or Elijah, or Isaiah? Would they believe Jesus? Of course not, these are Kenites, sons of the first murderer, of that Serpent’s seed.
John 1:26] John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
[27] He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe’s latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
The Kenites killed those prophets and will kill John the Baptist as well as our Lord Jesus Christ.
Now let’s go to Revelations and we find in Chapter 1 verse 1.
Rev.1:1] The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
For John to show to God’s servants, that’s you and me.
Rev.1:2] Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
This word Testimony is G3144. Another word for Witness.
Rev.1:3] Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
For you and me at these End Times. They tried to kill John by throwing him in a vat of boiling oil, but he was miraculously healed before their eyes. After that they sent him to Patmos, for hard labor. When he was released, he went into modern day Turkey where lived the last years of his life in peace. All other Apostles died horrifically. Now, let’s go to Rev. 6 and verse 9 reads.
Rev.6:9] And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:
True that the Seals are not in numerical order, but the fifth Seal contrasts with the fifth trump. We are in the fifth trump now.
Rev.6:10] And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?
[11] And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
We should pause here, dating this lesson, last week 70 Christians were beheaded in their church in the Congo. And let’s not forget all of the Christians throughout the world that have been murdered just for being Christians. Where are they, they are under the very alter of the LORD. Now, let’s go to Rev.11:3 and it reads.
Rev.11:3] And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.
All prophesies given in Days are of the children of God, all prophesies given in moons are for Satan and his children. These two witnesses are Moses and Elijah, when Jesus was at the mount of transfiguration it was Moses and Elijah. Moses the law giver and Elijah the Prophet of prophets.
Rev.11:4] These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.
[5] And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
[6] These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
This shows us right here who they are, Elijah stopped the rain (1Kings17:1), and Moses turned the river to blood (Exo.7:20).
Rev.11:7] And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.
This is the sixth trump, only Satan has the power to kill them.
Rev.11:8] And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.
This being Jerusalem. All eyes on Jerusalem in these last days.
Rev.11:9] And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.
[10] And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
We saw this in Gaza when the towers fell, remember when they were passing out candy and were celebrating. That was an example for us to take notice.
Rev.11:11] And after three days and an half the Spirit of life from God entered into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon them which saw them.
[12] And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
[13] And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven.
[14] The second woe is past; and, behold, the third woe cometh quickly.
These seven thousand die instantly at the seventh trump when the True Christ returns. They are the seven thousand angels that Michael kicks out of heaven with Satan. Let’s now go to Revelations 19 and verse 10 reads.
Rev.19:10] And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.
G3144 in the Strongs’, He was persecuted to death because He was the Testimony, He was Jesus Christ.
Rev.19:11] And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
[12] His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
[13] And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
Do you have the Testimony of Jesus Christ, don’t be scared. This is meant to be, this is the will of our Father, this is our destiny. It is written in Luke, from Jesus’s lips to your ears.
Luke 12:4] And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do.
[5] But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
We are not of this world, we are of our Father, we are spirit and can care less for the flesh. Remember when Jesus told us “There is no greater love than one that lay down his life for a friend”. Did not Jesus call us his friend, and did not Jesus lay his life down for you and me? Now let’s finish this lesson in Mark 13.
Mark 13:9] But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.
This testimony is G3144.
Mark 13:10] And the gospel must first be published among all nations.
[11] But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.
We are chosen for this time, this is our destiny, our privilege. These are but a few Witnesses and Testimonies that we covered today. Please get a Strongs’ Concordance, you can find so many studies that will open your eyes to the Word of God. Have a blessed day, let’s go to his throne.
