Today we begin 2Thessalonians, written rather quickly after 1Thessalonians because of some confusion which we will cover in chapter 2. 2Thes.1 and verse 1 reads.

2Thes.1:1] Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
[2] Grace unto you, and peace, from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Never overlook when he says “from God”. These scriptures are not from Paul, but rather the Word of God.

2Thes.1:3] We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because that your faith groweth exceedingly, and the charity of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth;

Off the milk and into the meat of his word, these are the blessings from God. Charity is love, and becomes compassion.

2Thes.1:4] So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure:

Let’s look at this word patience, it is G5281 hupomonē, in the Greek. And means; steadfastness, constancy, endurance. In the New Testament the characteristic of a man who is not swerved from his deliberate purpose and his loyalty to faith and piety by even the greatest trials and sufferings. Now, let’s go to Rev.14 and read verse 12.

Rev.14:12] Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

Here are the set aside ones that keep the law of God and the Faith of Jesus. Back to 2Thes.1 and verse 5 reads.

2Thes.1:5] Which is a manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

Be worthy of the troubles that are coming your way. Manifest is made known. Nothing will be hidden from you. Jesus says in Mark 13:23.

Mark 13:23] But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

Now, let’s back up to Mark 13 and verse 13 reads.

Mark 13:13] And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Told many times we will suffer tribulations for his name’s sake. But with the patience of the Saints, we will be saved. Back to 2Thes.1 and verse 6 reads.

2Thes.1:6] Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you;

The Father will protect us, vengeance belongs to the LORD.

2Thes.1:7] And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,

Those that are troubled in this world can take rest (Sabbath) in Jesus, for the seventh trump will sound, and He will come with the Host (army) from heaven.

2Thes.1:8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Always remember Heb.12:29 and it reads.

Heb.12:29] For our God is a consuming fire.

Back to 2Thes.1 and verse 9 reads.

2Thes.1:9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

Not left in a lake of fire burning forever, but turned to ashes from within. Never to be thought of again. Eze.28.

2Thes.1:10] When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

“In that day”, at the seventh trump. Because we believed, John 3:16.

2Thes.1:11] Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power:

He is calling, will you answer?

2Thes.1:12] That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

We are in Him and He is within us, and the Father is within us, and the Holy Spirit is also within us then, this is how we are glorified. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
