1Thessalonians 2 and verse 1 reads.
1Thes.2:1] For yourselves, brethren, know our entrance in unto you, that it was not in vain:
[2] But even after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.
They didn’t come empty, but filled with the Holy Spirit. And in Philippi they were met with false teachers that needed to be weeded out.
1Thes.2:3] For our exhortation was not of deceit, nor of uncleanness, nor in guile:
[4] But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.
Came with the Word of God and not with lies, about this “pleasing men”, let’s go to Jeremiah 17 and read verse 5-7.
Jer.17:5] Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.
[6] For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.
[7] Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.
Back to 1Thes.2 and verse 5 reads.
1Thes.2:5] For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God is witness:
In discipline we were bold. No better witness than God himself.
1Thes.2:6] Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ.
[7] But we were gentle among you, even as a nurse cherisheth her children:
Our glory is in God, but notice the gentleness as a mother that nurses her child. No greater joy of burden in the flesh.
1Thes.2:8] So being affectionately desirous of you, we were willing to have imparted unto you, not the gospel of God only, but also our own souls, because ye were dear unto us.
[9] For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Taking away any burden from them having to support them while they ministered unto them the gospel of the Lord. Paul was a tent maker, and they supported themselves. Leaving their time with them only for the word of the LORD.
1Thes.2:10] Ye are witnesses, and God also, how holily and justly and unblameably we behaved ourselves among you that believe:
We need to understand this for ourselves, keep your credibility clean. Without blame.
1Thes.2:11] As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doth his children,
With discipline we loved you as a father loves his son. “Spare the rod, spoil the child”.
1Thes.2:12] That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
[13] For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
Called is chosen, an elect of God, some come to the Father sooner than others, but all at the time of his choosing.
1Thes.2:14] For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for ye also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, even as they have of the Jews:
Though you came to know Jesus by the brothers who began in Judaea, and were persecuted.
1Thes.2:15] Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men:
Talking about the Kenites that Jesus himself warned us about in Matt.13:24-30 the parable of the tares. Matthew 13 and verse 24 reads.
Mat.13:24] Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
[25] But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way.
[26] But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.
[27] So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?
[28] He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?
[29] But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.
[30] Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.
Remember this is talking about the Kenites back in Judaea. Let’s skip to Mat.13:35 and it reads.
Mat.13:35] That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
This word “foundation” is Kataballo G2598 from Katabole G2602 in the Greek and means “overthrow of Satan”. Now let Jesus himself explain the parable. Mat.13:36-43 and it reads.
Mat.13:36] Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.
[37] He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
[38] The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
The Serpent’s seed.
Mat.13:39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.
[40] As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
[41] The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;
[42] And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.
[43] Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.
Are your eyes and ears open, can you hear the word of God? Back to 1Thes.2 and verse 16 reads.
1Thes.2:16] Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.
That the prophesy of the Gentiles would come to the LORD would come to pass. Their sins are on them.
1Thes.2:17] But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.
[18] Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.
For about 5 years.
1Thes.2:19] For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Are not even ye in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?
[20] For ye are our glory and joy.
Satan has his hour, but the Lord will return. And I say come, Lord Jesus, come. Let’s go to his throne.
