Today we will study Our Daily Bread, but first we must understand Jesus is the Living Word. We begin in John 1:1 and it reads.
John 1:1] In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
[2] The same was in the beginning with God.
Check out this word “Word” it is G3056 in the Strongs’, Logos in the Greek.
G3056:3. In John, denotes the essential Word of God, Jesus Christ, the personal wisdom and power in union with God, his minister in creation and government of the universe, the cause of all the world’s life both physical and ethical, which for the procurement of man’s salvation put on human nature in the person of Jesus the Messiah, the second person in the Godhead, and shone forth conspicuously from His words and deeds. A Greek philosopher named Heraclitus first used the term Logos around 600 B.C. to designate the divine reason or plan which coordinates a changing universe. This word was well suited to John’s purpose in John 1.
Let’s skip down to verse 14 and it reads.
John 1:14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John began with in the beginning, this is the Light from Genesis 1:3. Jesus in the flesh is Emmanuel, God with us Isa.7:14. The Word is Jesus, Salvation from the beginning. We go now to Revelations 19:13 and it reads.
Rev.19:13] And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
We have now established that Jesus is the Living Word, Jesus is the Word of God. Jesus would tell us something that many would have a problem with. Let’s go to John 6:31-35 and it reads.
John 6:31] Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
Remember this verse.
John 6:32] Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
[33] For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
[34] Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
[35] And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
We now know that Jesus is the Living Word, his name is The Word of God and now is that Bread of Life. Notice the “I Am”, this is God’s Holy name. In Matthew 6 Jesus is asked “how do we pray” and the response is called The Lord’s Prayer. Let’s read it.
Mat.6:9] After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Our Father in heaven, Holy is your name.
Mat.6:10] Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Kingdom, the King and his dominion. And his Will in heaven and earth will be done. Now, why we came here.
Mat.6:11] Give us this day our daily bread.
Give this day to us Jesus Christ, the Word of God, the Bread of Life. But most important give to us daily, not weakly, but daily. Every day in his word is a good day. This is something each individual must want, seek and pray for daily. Let God open your eyes to his word, he will do this IF you read his word daily. This is why I have started this church, to teach everyone that in less than 20 minutes a day we can cover one chapter with understanding. If we give him 20 minutes a day, what will he give us? Now, let’s finish this prayer and verse 12 reads.
Mat.6:12] And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Don’t overlook that verse that we also must forgive others.
Mat.6:13] And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Remember John 6:32, that manna from heaven? Something very interesting about that manna. It is H3898 in the Strongs’. Lachem in the Hebrew, and means: To fight, do battle, make war. That’s right we are going to Ephesians 6:10-17, and it reads.
Eph.6:10] Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
[11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
[12] For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
[13] Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
[14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
[15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
[16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Now for the first time we can now understand that Manna from heaven. Jesus is that Manna from heaven. In heaven John was told by an angel something very important. Let’s reads Rev.10:8-11.
Rev.10:8] And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Upon the sea and earth means dominion. Notice John had to “take it” it was not given but he needed to take it, which is a action word.
Rev.10:9] And I went unto the angel, and said unto him, Give me the little book. And he said unto me, Take it, and eat it up; and it shall make thy belly bitter, but it shall be in thy mouth sweet as honey.
[10] And I took the little book out of the angel’s hand, and ate it up; and it was in my mouth sweet as honey: and as soon as I had eaten it, my belly was bitter.
[11] And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.
Bitter because he was told that he must Prophesy, meaning teach, before the whole world. When we eat this book, his Word, his Bread of Life, the Manna, then we are to teach others what has been given to us from the LORD. Ezekiel was told the same in the Old Testament, let’s go to Eze.2:8-10 and it reads.
Eze.2:8] But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
Ezekiel was a prophet, so it was given to him directly from God.
Eze.2:9] And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;
[10] And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
The book was complete. We continue in chapter 3 and verse 1 reads.
Eze.3:1] Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel.
[2] So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll.
[3] And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat it; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness.
[4] And he said unto me, Son of man, go, get thee unto the house of Israel, and speak with my words unto them.
So, we see that Our Daily Bread is the Word of God. We are to eat it, consume it, then teach it to all peoples. These are the works for God that we do while we are in the flesh. Our reward is in heaven, those linen robes make up of our righteous acts that we do here on earth. Let’s finish this study with the words of Jesus at the Passover. Mat.26:26 and it reads.
Mat.26:26] And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.
His body that was broken for us. He got the stripes and we get the healing.
Mat.26:27] And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;
[28] For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.
This is why He said Our Daily Bread. I ask that you study with me every day, it is my goal that everyone comes to the LORD daily for his word, that the LORD may open our eyes and ears to his Word. Let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.

One response to “OUR DAILY BREAD”
I can see now why you put Our Daily Bread into your logo,
When Christians refer to Jesus as their “daily bread,” it’s an expression of their faith in Him as the essential, sustaining force in their lives, both physically in the form of community and support, and spiritually in terms of guidance, forgiveness, and love.
This metaphor invites believers to live with an awareness of Jesus’ presence and influence in every aspect of their daily life, encouraging a daily walk with Him, much like one would need bread to sustain themselves day by day.
Beautiful writing and well thought out.
