Our titles for today’s study are; Verses 1-8 What advantage has the Jew? Verses 9-20 There is none righteous. Verses 21-22 Righteousness through faith. Verses 23-31 It is a fact that you are a sinner. Continuing from Romans 2, speaking of the circumcised and the uncircumcised. Of the Israelites and of the Gentiles. Giving knowledge of the blood ordinance is what Paul will be doing in today’s lesson. Romans 3 and verse 1 reads.

Rom.3:1] What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?

This is said because Jesus has shed his blood on the cross. Therefore, all blood ordinances have been done away with. Do not forget the law is still in effect. What is the circumcision all about anyway? To show you that circumcision was always meant to be of the heart, let’s go to the law. Let’s go to Deuteronomy 30 and verse 6 reads.

Deu.30:6] And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
[7] And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

Showing us here it has always been an example for both advents. For when Jesus would come and his blood on the cross would do away with the blood ordinances, and for just before the second coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the seventh trump. Back to Romans 3 and verse 2 reads.

Rom.3:2] Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

Committed the promises of God. Let’s go to Isaiah 43 and verse 25 reads.

Isa.43:25] I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
[26] Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.

The LORD said, remind me of my promises. Not that he has forgotten, but he wants to know if you have read his Word. Let’s go to Deuteronomy 4 and verse 5 reads.

Deu.4:5] Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.

Remember our laws here in America come from the Word of God.

Deu.4:6] Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
[7] For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?

To find America in the bible, go to Isaiah 18. This is talking about the blessings that the LORD gives to those that trust in him, and to those who call themselves after his name. Christians.

Deu.4:8] And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
[9] Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;

God says to teach your children the Word of God. Now let’s go to Psalms 147 and verse 19 reads.

Psa.147:19] He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.

The house of Jacob is America today, and the house of Judah is Israel today. Back to Romans 3 and verse 3 reads.

Rom.3:3] For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?
[4] God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Can an unbeliever make the Truth of God’s Word a lie? The answer of course is no. But that it is written, we find in Psalms 62 and verse 9 reads.

Psa.62:9] Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.

Back to Romans and verse 5 reads.

Rom.3:5] But if our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)

Let’s go to Galatians 3 and verse 15 reads.

Gal.3:15] Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.

Paul is saying that no man can change the Word of God. Back to Romans 3 and verse 6 reads.

Rom.3:6] God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world?

If you do not believe, does that make God’s word untrue? No, it makes you a liar and wrong. Let’s go to Genesis, where Abraham was asking God if there be but fifty in Sodom, would you destroy the righteous with the wicked. Genesis 18 and verse 24 reads.

Gen.18:24] Peradventure there be fifty righteous within the city: wilt thou also destroy and not spare the place for the fifty righteous that are therein?
[25] That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from thee: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?
[26] And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.

Unfortunately, there were not fifty, there were not even ten as the verses went further. But the LORD did say for the righteous he would not destroy all but spare them. He destroyed Sodom because there were only three, even Lot’s wife turned back. But, Lot and his two virgin daughters were the only ones spared, brought out by the angels the LORD had sent. Back to Romans 3 and verse 7 reads.

Rom.3:7] For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a sinner?

Through his lie? Because he persecuted the church, Paul was a scholar of the Word, he just missed one thing. Let’s go to Isaiah 7 and verse 14 reads.

Isa.7:14] Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Immanuel H6005 ʻImmânûwʼêl pronounced im-maw-noo-ale’ and means; God with us. 1. symbolic and prophetic name of the Messiah, the Christ, prophesying that He would be born of a virgin and would be ‘God with us’.

This is confirmed in Matthew 1:22-23. The prophecy coming to pass. Let’s go to Galatians where Paul gives us the results of our belief. Galatians 3 and verse 22 reads.

Gal.3:22] But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
[23] But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
[24] Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

The law is our schoolmaster bringing us by faith to Jesus Christ. Back to Romans 3 and verse 8 reads.

Rom.3:8] And not rather, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just.
[9] What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;

It is for this reason we are to teach the gentiles law and the prophets. This also includes the health (Food) laws.

Rom.3:10] As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:

Written in Psalms 14 and verse 1 reads.

Psa.14:1] The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.
[2] The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.
[3] They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

We are all sinners, but by the grace of God (that’s him dying on the cross for us) his blood covers our sins on repentance.

Psa.14:4] Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD.
[5] There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.

That would be in the generation of the fig tree. The generation of the fig tree came to pass in 1948, when Israel became a nation again.

Psa.14:6] Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.
[7] Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! when the LORD bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

That would mean in this generation we will go back into captivity, but the house of Jacob (America today) and the house of Judah (Israel of today) shall do valiantly. Back to Romans and verse 11 reads.

Rom.3:11] There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

Search out the origins, seek out the Word of God. Let’s go to Amos 8 and verse 11 reads.

Amos 8:11] Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

The whole world goes into captivity again and the famine has begun. But never forget in this fifth trump God will open the eyes of his Elect. Back to Romans 3 and verse 12 reads.

Rom.3:12] They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

This is why we go back and find where it was written, it is so important in understanding God’s word.

Rom.3:13] Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:

Sepulchre is grave, they are spiritually dead. Notice it comes out of their mouths, these are liars, and false teachers within the church. Let’s go to Psalms 5 and verse 8 reads.

Psa.5:8] Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
[9] For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is very wickedness; their throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.
[10] Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee.

Remember Romans 1:24-32, the Lord will give them over to a reprobate mind. Back to Romans 3 and verse 14 reads.

Rom.3:14] Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

Remember Paul is a scholar of the Word of God, let’s go to Psalms 10 and verse 7 reads.

Psa.10:7] His mouth is full of cursing and deceit and fraud: under his tongue is mischief and vanity.

Back to Romans 3 and verse 15 reads.

Rom.3:15] Their feet are swift to shed blood:

Man is swift to kill both physically and spiritually. Let’s go to Proverbs 1 and verse 15 reads.

Prov.1:15] My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:
[16] For their feet run to evil, and make haste to shed blood.

Now let’s go to Isaiah 59 and verse 7 reads.

Isa.59:7] Their feet run to evil, and they make hast to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction are in their paths.
[8] The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
[9] Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.

We can see that Paul is teaching that the Kenites are among us, even in our churches today. Back to Romans 3 and verse 16 reads.

Rom.3:16] Destruction and misery are in their ways:
[17] And the way of peace have they not known:
[18] There is no fear of God before their eyes.

Without a doubt we have been talking about Kenites. Those that claim to be of Judah, but do lie and are of the synagogue of Satan. Rev.2:9 and 3:9. Shed blood? Who was the first murderer? Cain, and his offspring are called Kenites. These last five verses show us how to identify them. For whosoever does not fear (Revere) God dies a spiritual death. Proverbs 1:7 They are fools. Wisdom brings life unto the spiritually dead. Let’s go to Psalms 36 and verse 1 reads.

Psa.36:1] The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
[2] For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.
[3] The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.

Now let’s go to Psalms 111 and verse 9 reads.

Psa.111:9] He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.
[10] The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

Fear H3374 yirʼâh pronounced yir-aw’ means; Love or Revere when speaking of the LORD. c. fear (of God), respect, reverence, piety. d. revered. Back to Romans 3 and verse 19 reads.

Rom.3:19] Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Let me remind you what Jesus said concerning the law. Matthew 5 and verse 17 reads.

Mat.5:17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Now for the pastors who teach we are not under the law, Jesus continues.

Mat.5:19] Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Don’t overlook; Do and Teach them to others. Back to Romans 3 and verse 20 reads.

Rom.3:20] Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Because of law we know sin. We teach the Gentiles that repentance gives us salvation. Let’s go to 1John 3 and verse 4 reads.

1John 3:4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

That is the reason I get so mad at pastors who teach we are not under law any more, it is a lie. Back to Romans 3 and verse 21 reads.

Rom.3:21] But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

God makes known the law to the Gentiles, with the law and the prophets being the second witness. Gentiles who love the LORD will read his Word. Jesus told us in John 5 and verse 44 reads.

John 5:44] How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
[45] Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
[46] For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
[47] But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

Back to Romans 3 and verse 22 reads.

Rom.3:22] Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

God is not a respecter of persons. Let’s go to John 3 and verse 16 reads.

John 3:16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

The world, that’s all races. Back to Romans and verse 23 reads.

Rom.3:23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Those that sin, are short of the glory of God. Meaning salvation is in jeopardy. The word Come means; Fall.

Rom.3:24] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Jesus is our Redeemer, his blood on the cross paid the price. Jesus means; Yah’s Savior. Let’s go to Ephesians 2 and verse 8 reads.

Eph.2:8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
[10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
[11] Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
[12] That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
[13] But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Back to Romans 3 and verse 25 reads.

Rom.3:25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

This word propitiation is G2435 hilastērion pronounced hil-as-tay’-ree-on and means; an expiatory (place or thing) that is (concretely) an atoning victim or (specifically) the lid of the Ark (in the Temple). 1. relating to an appeasing or expiating, having placating or expiating force, expiatory; a means of appeasing or expiating, a propitiation. a. used of the cover of the ark of the covenant in the Holy of Holies, which was sprinkled with the blood of the expiatory victim on the annual day of atonement (this rite signifying that the life of the people, the loss of which they had merited by their sins, was offered to God in the blood as the life of the victim, and that God by this ceremony was appeased and their sins expiated); hence the lid of expiation, the propitiatory. b. an expiatory sacrifice. c. a expiatory victim. mercyseat propitiation. Jesus Christ is our propitiation, our atonement for our sins. Once saved, always saved is not true. This just said for past sins. you cannot repent for future sins. But don’t overlook, through faith in his blood. Let’s go to Hebrews 9 and verse 22 reads.

Heb.9:22] And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
[23] It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

Jesus (God with us) was the only one who came in the flesh without sin.

Heb.9:24] For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

The first thing Jesus did after his crucifixion was to rent the veil of the holy of holies, allowing all to come before God without a priest between us. His blood cloaks our sins on repentance. Back to Romans 3 and verse 26 reads.

Rom.3:26] To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
[27] Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

We covered this in Romans 2:17-23, the answer was in verse 24 and it reads.

Romans 2:24] For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.
[25] For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.

Written in Isaiah 52 and verse 5 reads.

Isa.52:5] Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed.
[6] Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

But by Faith in Jesus Christ, Immanuel, God with us. Let’s go to 1Corinthians 1 and verse 29 reads.

1Cor.1:29] That no flesh should glory in his presence.
[30] But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
[31] That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.

Back to Romans 3 and verse 28 reads.

Rom.3:28] Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

The law, works, and faith come by belief in Jesus Christ.

Rom.3:29] Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:
[30] Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.
[31] Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

By faith in Jesus Christ, we establish the law. Let’s go to Matthew 5 and verse 17 reads.

Mat.5:17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Faith establishes law, belief in Jesus (The Living Word) is Faith. From Genesis thru Revelations is the Word of God. We cannot repent unless we believe that Jesus died on the cross and after three days rose again defeating Death, that is the Devil. Heb.2:14. Sounds hard to understand at first, but when we break it down, it makes it a lot easier. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
