With the first two words we know this is a continuation from chapter 5. 2Corinthians 6 and verse 1 reads.

2 Corinthians 6 and verse 1 reads.

2Cor.6:1] We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain.

The last chapter was how we are to teach the Word of God to others. Check out this word “Void”. It is G2756 in the Strongs’, Kenos in the Greek, and means empty, 1. empty handed 2. without a gift. With that in mind, grace is unmerited favor, find your gift of God and be a doer for his Glory.

2Cor.6:2] (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

Paul is quoting Isaiah 49. Let’s go there and read verse 8.

Isa.49:8] Thus saith the LORD, In an acceptable time have I heard thee, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee: and I will preserve thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, to establish the earth, to cause to inherit the desolate heritages;
[9] That thou mayest say to the prisoners, Go forth; to them that are in darkness, Shew yourselves. They shall feed in the ways, and their pastures shall be in all high places.

The LORD will provide teachers to those that seek him. A pastor is one that prepares the pastures for the flock. Now let’s think about this. God wants us to read and know his Word, so that we can teach others in a time when the famine is in the land. Amos 8:11. Back to 2Cor.6 and verse 3 reads.

2Cor.6:3] Giving no offence in any thing, that the ministry be not blamed:
[4] But in all things approving ourselves as the ministers of God, in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses,
[5] In stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings;

Though we go through tribulation just teaching God’s word to others, we do this for his glory and not ours.

2Cor.6:6] By pureness, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned,

By these things we overcome them that persecute us, and teach God’s children without fear. Longsuffering is patience, and we will need a lot of it.

2Cor.6:7] By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,

The word of truth is Jesus Christ. Don’t forget this armor, right hand sword, left hand shield of faith, do not fear the fiery darts of the wicked. Let’s go to Eph.6 and read verses 16 and 17.

Eph.6:16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
[17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

We overcome the wicked with the Word of God. back to 2Cor.6 and verse 8 reads.

2Cor.6:8] By honour and dishonour, by evil report and good report: as deceivers, and yet true;

Between two ways, stay moral, and stay in Christ.

2Cor.6″9] As unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and, behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed;

Even as to death, we ascend to heaven. Injured, tough love, yet not killed.

2Cor.6:10] As sorrowful, yet alway rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

Possession and knowledge of the word of God is more than the world could ever give, or more than I could ever want.

2Cor.6:11] O ye Corinthians, our mouth is open unto you, our heart is enlarged.

Paul is saying “you people of Corinth we have much love for you”. I believe he is talking to the church in Corinth. Because the rest of Corinth was known for being a heathen town.

2Cor.6:12] Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels.

You are strained in us, but you are cramped inside of yourselves. Is what the Greek says.

2Cor.6:13] Now for a recompence in the same, (I speak as unto my children,) be ye also enlarged.

Paul is saying he wants them to return their love to him.

2Cor.6:14] Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Don’t even hang around with them. Dangerous to associate with unbelievers, because they can only hurt you. They know you cannot hurt them. Do not yoke an ox with a horse, you will not plow straight, nor get the job done.

2Cor.6:15] And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

Belial even in his wisdom he is foolish. Knowing these cannot get along, why put yourself in that position.

2Cor.6:16] And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

God is a Jealous God. let’s go to Exo.34:14 and read.

Exo.34:14] For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

We read also in Exodus 29:43-46.

Exo.29:43] And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory.
[44] And I will sanctify the tabernacle of the congregation, and the altar: I will sanctify also both Aaron and his sons, to minister to me in the priest’s office.
[45] And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will be their God.
[46] And they shall know that I am the LORD their God, that brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, that I may dwell among them: I am the LORD their God.

Another reason here at Christ Ministries we observe the Passover, knowing with a strong hand he brought us out of Egypt. Back to 2Cor.6 and verse 17 reads.

2Cor.6:17] Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

Separate yourselves from them, very clearly written here. We want to be received by the LORD and not by men.

2Cor.6:18] And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

This is all we want, to be his children and for our Father to be our GOD.  Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
