1 Corinthians 11 and verse 1 reads.
1Cor.11:1] Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Follow Christ only. Paul said this because he was given the Word of God to give to us.
1Cor.11:2] Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
Gave to us freely what was given freely unto him. Ordinances are laws. We are still under law. Jesus would say in Matthew 5:17…
Mat.5:17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
Back to 1Cor.11 and verse 3 reads.
1Cor.11:3] But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
God should have been translated Father. Keep Christ over your head. Be under Christ.
1Cor.11:4] Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head.
Praying or teaching the word of God without Christ over you, false teaching, dishonors Jesus Christ.
1Cor.11:5] But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
Puts shame on her husband, who is over her, for false teaching is not of God. These could be traditions of men that make void the word of God. Or simply false teachers.
1Cor.11:6] For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered.
Keep Christ over you when you teach others, keep the word of God, Jesus is the Living Word.
1Cor.11:7] For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man.
[8] For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man.
Let’s not get “Big headed” all you men out there. For we are all under Christ, but that God took the DNA out of man to create woman.
1Cor.11:9] Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man.
Now we will get into the real reason we have been talking about this.
1Cor.11:10] For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels.
The “angels”, the third influx of the fallen angels from Gen.6 they will be kicked out with Satan at the 6th.trump. Let’s go to Rev.12 and read.
Rev.12:7] And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
[8] And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
[9] And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
This is the reason why women need to have Christ over their heads. The angels are coming back with that Serpent from the garden, Satan.Gen.6:1. And when they come back, they will “beguile them”, Wholly seduce. Mat.24:37.
1Cor.11:11] Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
[12] For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of god.
They have become one flesh in marriage.
1Cor.11:13] Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered?
[14] Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?
This is a warning to the homosexuals. The angels won’t care, they will beguile even men. That fruit is ripe for the pickings.
1Cor.11:15] But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
Her hair becomes her veil unto Christ, though she is under her husband, all are under Christ.
1Cor.11:16] But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.
We can’t worry about those that don’t understand, God himself may have blinded them.
1Cor.11:17] Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
Paul is saying “if you don’t understand, I’ll be there soon and explain it personally”.
1Cor.11:18] For first of all, when ye come together in the church, I hear that there be divisions among you; and I partly believe it.
[19] For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you.
Division in the churches continue today, we call them denominations. But Paul is saying to make known the ones that devise these evils among you.
1Cor.11:20] When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord’s supper.
[21] For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.
We are going to talk about the people in the churches that may be rich or have plenty. They tend to look down on others who might be poor or going through tough times. In other words- they think they are better than others. They will eat much and give nothing to the poor. They will bring enough to get drunk but give nothing to the poor so they might partake of the sacraments. This is what Paul will be talking about.
1Cor.11:22] What? have ye not houses to eat and to drink in? or despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
[23] For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
[24] And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
[25] After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
[26] For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.
*We wait for that “Coming”. And if we are as ignorant as these people that Paul is talking about then Lord help us. We are to take the sacrament for the Lord and not for ourselves. “Do this in remembrance of me”. Now, what is about to be said is the most mistranslated verses in the bible from Pastors.
1Cor.11:27] Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
No one is worthy! But we know that Christ was worthy!
1Cor.11:28] But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
[29] For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.
Not discerning the Lord’s body. Christ was the Lamb of God, pure and Holy.
1Cor.11:30] For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
Pastors make Christ a stumbling block for new Christians.
1Cor.11:31] For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
[32] But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
It is right to judge yourselves, keeping ourselves on our toes. We are not of this world, but must go through this world.
1Cor.11:33] Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
Communion is to commune together the body and blood of Jesus Christ, who himself only was worthy. To come together for the Lord.
1Cor.11:34] And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come.
We see here that Paul was on his way there, but felt this letter was of the upmost important to write ahead of his coming. The most important thing we need to get out of this today is Christ only was worthy.
Worthy G514 in the Strongs’, Axios in the Greek. Let’s go to Revelations chapter 5 and read just how worthy our Lord is.
Rev.5:1] And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals.
[2] And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
[3] And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
[4] And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
[5] And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
[6] And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.
[7] And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne.
[8] And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.
[9] And they sung a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;
[10] And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
[11] And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne and the beasts and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands;
[12] Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.
[13] And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever.
[14] And the four beasts said, Amen. And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
This is why our LORD only is worthy.
Let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
