No one should come between you and God

1 Corinthians 10 and verse 1 reads.

1Cor.10:1] Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;

Ignorant means “unlearned”. He is saying that our fathers (if you are of Israel, one of the twelve tribes.) that came out of Egypt, and crossed the Red Sea.

1Cor.10:2] And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;

Their baptism was in the cloud and through the Red Sea.

1Cor.10:3] And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
[4] And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

So, we see here that the Manna and the Quale were spiritual foods. We also see here that water that came out of the Rock was Jesus Christ the Living Word of God. This makes it harder for me to understand how they were fed the word of God and still fell so far away from our LORD, and so quickly while he was still with them. And I mean literally with them.

1Cor.10:5] But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

That whole generation, from 20 yrs. and older. Save for two, that being Caleb and Joshua. For they believed.

1Cor.10:6] Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.

Stop thinking of your flesh and start thinking spiritually. This is what their problem was in the wilderness. Don’t overlook this word “examples”, examples for you and me in these “End times”.

1Cor.10:7] Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.

This is speaking of when they made the golden calf and worshipped it instead of our LORD. Remember Moses was only gone up on the mount for forty days. Now, I want to show the love of our Lord. They first witnessed the ten plagues the LORD sent on Egypt. Second, they didn’t have to get their feet wet when the LORD parted the Red Sea. Third, they witnessed the Lord wipe out all the soldiers that were chasing them. Then they came upon a pool of water that was undrinkable, and heard the Lord tell Moses to throw a stick in it and it went from bitter to delicious. After all this, they heard the LORD tell Moses this, let’s go to Exo.15 and read verse 26.

Exo.15:26] And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

After all this they heard God tell Moses this. Exo.20:23-25 and it reads.

Exo.20:23] Ye shall not make with me gods of silver, neither shall ye make unto you gods of gold.
[24] An altar of earth thou shalt make unto me, and shalt sacrifice thereon thy burnt offerings, and thy peace offerings, thy sheep, and thine oxen: in all places where I record my name I will come unto thee, and I will bless thee.
[25] And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.

The Lord has given clear instructions in his Word and his Law. But the children could not trust in the Lord, remember this is our example today in the generation of the fig tree. My question to you today is our generation any different than that generation? Does anyone you know study Gods word for understanding? Keep this in mind as we go back to 1Cor.10:8 and it reads.

1Cor.10:8] Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.

Num.25.

1Cor.10:9] Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

This is when they lifted the serpent on the pole. Num.21:6. Showing that Christ would defeat Death. Heb.2:14. Still think we are not under the law? These are our examples.

1Cor.10:10] Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.

They spoke against the Passover, as they do today with “Easter”.

1Cor.10:11] Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Let’s never forget this verse. The law, the prophets all are written for our admonition. We find it in the Greek G3559; calling attention to that is (by implication) mild rebuke or warning. A warning to those in the End Times, the Fig Tree generation which began May 15th.1948 when Israel became a nation again. Jeremiah 24.

1Cor.10:12] Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

Stand not in pride but with the gospel armor on, Stand and not fly away.

1Cor.10:13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

This verse can comfort many brothers and sisters, the Lord will always show us a way out. But we go through this world as does everyone else. Your problems are not new, or unique.  But the Lord is with us as we are with him.

1Cor.10:14] Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

Flee from the churches that do not teach the word of God. Those that teach the traditions of men.

1Cor.10:15] I speak as to wise men; judge ye what I say.
[16] The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
[17] For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

Our communion is with the Lord, and we become one body with Christ. And Christ is the head of that body.

1Cor.10:18] Behold Israel after the flesh: are not they which eat of the sacrifices partakers of the alter?
[19] What say I then? that the idol is any thing, or that which is offered in sacrifice to idols is any thing?

Not to be taken lightly, but with reverence. Idols are an offense unto God.

1Cor.10:20] But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with devils.

This is very important for us in these end times. At the sixth trump Satan will come first. He will stand in Jerusalem and claim to be the Christ and will deceive the whole world.

1Cor.10:21] Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.

We find this in Dan.9:27 and it reads.

Dan.9:27] And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

This warning for us means that in the middle of the week Satan comes and takes all oblations for himself. And brings on the seventh trump which is the true Christ. Those that thought Satan was the Christ, but were deceived. There will be no flying away only deception. This week or “7 years of tribulation” was shortened by Jesus in Mark chapter 13:20. “For the Elect’s sake”. And we find that in Rev.9:5 the Lord has shortened the 7 years to 5 months. Back to 1Cor.10 and verse 22 reads.

1Cor.10:22] Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

Deu.32:21 “For God is a Jealous God”.

1Cor.10:23] All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
[24] Let no man seek his own, but every man another’s wealth.

“Wealth” is well being.

1Cor.10:25] Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:
[26] For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.

God created the world and everything in it.

1Cor.10:27] If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake.

Not of the unclean meats, but for the steak that was offered unto an idol eat for the idol doesn’t exist. This we studied in the last chapter.

1Cor.10:28] But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:
[29] Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man’s conscience?
[30] For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?

For the thanks I give in my heart unto the Lord for it is He that gives it to me. Let no man judge you.

1Cor.10:31] Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
[32] Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God:
[33] Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

Do what is right in the sight of the Lord, don’t be in the house of the wicked. But as it was said “you were disposed to go”, verse 27. Then you had no reason not to be there is what was said. Always paying attention to what is said and written in God’s word. Rightly dividing the word of God. Let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
