Today’s study is very important for God’s elect to understand. Peter gives us this chapter to help us grow in maturity, and as we go through this chapter we will be given ears to hear and eyes to see. 2Peter 3 and verse 1 reads.

2Pet.3:1] This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

Peter is stirring up our memories from before we were ever born. We were with God until he put our souls into the flesh at conception, this is the memory he is stirring up. When we receive eyes to see and ears to hear it will be because we love him enough to stay in his word. The Word is Jesus Christ. He continues.

2Pet.3:2] That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

From the prophets to the gospels, all given to you by the Lord our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Word of God. 1Cor.10:11 reads.

1Cor.10:11] Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

It is very important to understand that prophecies were our examples. Back to 2Pet.3 and verse 3 reads.

2Pet.3:3] Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
[4] And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

The knowledge of false teachers and how they are in our churches today, and how Satan loves the pulpit, it’s all about deception. We learned in 1Peter 4:17 that judgement begins at the pulpit but let’s go to 2Tim.4:1 and it reads.

2Tim.4:1] Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Back to 2Pet.3 and verse 5 reads.

2Pet.3:5] For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:

Those from verse 4 are knowingly unlearned in God’s word. Why? because they are not of God, and without God opening the eyes and ears they are blinded from the truth. Peter is speaking of the first earth age, we learn this in the very first 2 verses of God’s word. (Gen.1:1-2 or study my works in topical teachings entitled “Three heavens and three earth ages”. But for this study I want to go to Jer.4:22-27 and it reads.

Jer.4:22] For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.

This word “sottish” is old English for stupid. They have no understanding because they do not read the word of God.

Jer.4:23] I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.

The Katabole, G2602; the overthrow of Satan in the first earth age. No light means no salvation. Thus, the reason for this earth age, that Christ would come for Salvation on repentance.

Jer.4:24] I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.

The land was divided.

Jer.4:25] I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
[26] I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.

Showing us here that this wasn’t Noah’s flood, for God destroyed everything. And created this world for man to come in the flesh.

Jer.4:27] For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.

We can thank God for having compassion on his children. Giving us this chance to show whether we will love him or Satan. Back to 2Pet.3 and verse 6 reads.

2Pet.3:6] Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:

The first earth age was destroyed with water.

2Pet.3:7] But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Now this earth age which is now, will be destroyed also, but this time with fire. Heb.12:29. For judgement and destruction of ungodly men, meaning those who choose to follow Satan.

2Pet.3:8] But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Never forget this verse, it is the only way you can understand the first chapter of Genesis. God created this earth age in six days (six thousand years), then he rested on the seventh. Remember we have examples for these end times, the millennium is our example for the seventh day.

2Pet.3:9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Longsuffering is patience. It is God’s will for all of his children under this dispensation of time, Salvation after Jesus was crucified, that they come to repentance. This is Emmanuel, God with us, this is what this second earth age was meant for, and was his plan all along.

2Pet.3:10] But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

As a thief, because they think he is already here, Satan claiming to be Jesus, but is the antichrist. Then and only then, at the seventh trump does the true Christ come. Elements should have been translated rudiments, meaning all evil, and will be burned up, destroyed.

2Pet.3:11] Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

We study God’s word and not the traditions of men.

2Pet.3:12] Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

It is written in Hebrews 12:29. For our God is a consuming fire. Yes, we look forward to the coming of our Lord and say “Come Lord Jesus, come”.

2Pet.3:13] Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

This now covers all three earth and heaven ages, we had the first overthrown with water, the second will be destroyed with fire, and now the promise of the third. Let’s go to Rev.21 and begin with verse 1 and it reads.

Rev.21:1] And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.
[2] And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

We are waiting for this marriage to the Lamb.

Rev.21:3] And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
[4] And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Wherein dwells righteousness, God only is righteous. He will dwell with us in the third earth and heaven age, heaven comes to earth and this is everlasting life for all who overcome. Back to 2Pet.3 and verse 14 reads.

2Pet.3:14] Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

We do this by repentance, and he will not remember our sins. Isa.43:25 reads.

Isa.43:25] I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.

Back to 2Pet.3 and verse 15 reads.

2Pet.3:15] And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;

Peter is giving Paul much credit here, knowing he also walked with Jesus, and was an apostle.

2Pet.3:16] As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

Peter is saying that Paul talked about difficult topics which may have been hard to understand. Paul also talked about the Katabole, G2602. And also the three earth and heaven ages along with many more difficult subjects.

2Pet.3:17] Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

Warning against doing the unpardonable sin, our destiny. Know the word, study the word of God and be a doer of his word. Put the gospel armor on and stand before Satan and let the Holy Spirit speak through you when you are delivered up. Mark 13, Mat.24, and Luke 21.

2Pet.3:18] But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.

Read that verse again very closely. It says; grow in grace, that’s unmerited favor. And in knowledge; that’s understanding. Of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; that’s the Word of God, The Holy Bible. What Peter did in this chapter was give us the Key of David. That from the beginning (Gen.3) that the sons of Cain, Kenites, would be in these end times deceiving God’s children. Parable of the tares. But with study we show ourselves approved that the LORD might open our eyes and ears to his word, and the promise of Rev.3 he would open doors (eyes) of his children, the elect, that they should be a doer of his word and stand against Satan in the last days. Check out my study in topical teachings “The Key of David”. He also gave us the “Three Heavens and Earth Ages. The most important chapter in all of Peter. So much given for God’s elect in this book of Peter, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I have enjoyed bringing it to you. God bless you and let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
