2 Corinthians 9 and verse 1 reads.
2Cor.9:1] For as touching the ministering to the saints, it is superfluous for me to write to you:
It is not necessary for me to write unto you about the Apostles, because you know them personally.
2Cor.9:2] For I know the forwardness of your mind, for which I boast of you to them of Macedonia, that Achaia was ready a year ago; and your zeal hath provoked very many.
Your zeal has been ready since back then.
2Cor.9:3] Yet have I sent the brethren, lest our boasting of you should be in vain in this behalf; that, as I said, ye may be ready:
[4] Lest haply if they of Macedonia come with me, and find you unprepared, we (that we say not, ye) should be ashamed in this same confident boasting.
[5] Therefore I thought it necessary to exhort the brethren, that they would go before unto you, and make up beforehand your bounty, whereof ye had notice before, that the same might be ready, as a matter of bounty, and not as of covetousness.
Paul is talking about the Tithes that they collected from those in the church here to send to Jerusalem. Not to be confused with those in the synagogues. In those, days those in the synagogues persecuted the Christians. Verse 5 mentioned “noticed” and that should have been translated “promised”.
2Cor.9:6] But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
Give a little and the LORD will give a little, give a lot and the LORD will bless you beyond your belief.
2Cor.9:7] Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
Not everyone is able to give what some have. Let’s go to Due.15 and read verse 7.
Due.15:7] If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
Back to 2Cor.9 and verse 8 reads.
2Cor.9:8] And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:
And it is called good works here to give to the church. Let’s talk about this for a minute. If your church is doing the works of God then yes, if not then we need to understand 2nd epistle of John. verse 10-11 and it reads.
2John 1:10] If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
[11] For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
This includes giving money to a church that doesn’t teach the truth of God’s word. Sad but this happens a lot in our churches today. Back to 2cor.9 and verse 9 reads.
2Cor.9:9] (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.
Written in Psalms 112 and verse 9 reads.
Psa.112:9] He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honour.
[10] The wicked shall see it, and be grieved; he shall gnash with his teeth, and melt away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.
Always go back and get the full meaning of what was written. So much more is said in Psalms 112. Back to 2Cor.9 and verse 10 reads.
2Cor.9:10] Now he that ministereth seed to the sower both minister bread for your food, and multiply your seed sown, and increase the fruits of your righteousness;)
The Word of God is the Bread of Life. Bless God and he will bless you, in other words, love God and he will love you.
2Cor.9:11] Being enriched in every thing to all bountifulness, which causeth through us thanksgiving to God.
God blesses us when we do his works for others.
2Cor.9:12] For the administration of this service not only supplieth the want of the saints, but is abundant also by many thanksgivings unto God;
Again, these saints are not the boys down town at the synagogues, they are the apostles who have started the church in Jerusalem. Think about the tribulations they are going through.
2Cor.9:13] Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;
I had a hard time with this one verse. But, after checking the Greek I found it rather easy to understand. First, Experiment is “proof”, G1382, Dokime in the Greek, pronounced Dok-ee-may, and means a proof, a specimen of tried worth. So, you see, those that give with a ready heart, give to the LORD, he who blesses the LORD the LORD will bless. He who loves the Lord the Lord will love. Let’s go to 2Tim.2:15 and read.
2Tim.2:15] Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
This is that bread of Life, that Manna from heaven, Jesus Christ. Awesome when the Lord gives us his word, and opens our eyes. And he just opened my eyes to this. Follow me in his word. Let’s go to Rev.3:6-8 and it reads.
Rev.3:6] He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Father open eyes and ears to your children right now.
Rev.3:7] And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
Talking about opening our eyes right now, this key of David is knowing the seed line of Christ and the seed line of the Kenites.
Rev.3:8] I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
This we do with the blessings of his strength. Now let’s go to Luke 11:9-10 and read what Jesus told us, and it reads.
Luke 11:9] And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
Talking about our eyes and ears being opened. Meaning we must seek his word and he will open our eyes, “open the door” for us.
Luke 11:10] For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
This means we must study his word, meaning reading his word with prayer and supplications. And now we can go back to Rev.1 and read verse 3.
Rev.1:3] Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
The time that is at hand is the end times. Back to 2Cor.9 and verse 14 reads.
2Cor.9:14] And by their prayer for you, which long after you for the exceeding grace of God in you.
For Christ is in us.
2Cor.9:15] Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.
Let’s finish this beautiful chapter off with this final verse from Romans chapter 6. And it reads.
Rom.6:23] For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Verse 15 finished with Thanks be unto God, let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
