Today we begin 1 Peter, the man that Jesus Christ built his church on. Peter, G4074 Petros in the Greek, means a rock or a stone. Jesus felt that Peter would be the perfect foundation for his church, and of course he was right. 1Peter 1 and verse 1 reads.

1Pet.1:1] Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,

Peter was an apostle, that is a sent one. Sent to the house of Jacob, all twelve tribes, then to the gentiles. Acts 10, 11.

1Pet.1:2] Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

Peter an elect called for the knowledge of God, remembrance. The whole Godhead, or triune of God mentioned here in one verse, the trinity. Do not overlook the sprinkling of blood, teach Christ crucified, the Lamb of God. Who, why, when and where.

1Pet.1:3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Jesus’s tomb is empty, he is Risen.

1Pet.1:4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Reserved for us in heaven, the love of our LORD for us. Let’s check out this word incorruptible, promised that Jesus would never see corruption. Let’s go to Psa.16:8-11 and it reads.

Psa.16:8] I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
[9] Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
[10] For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
[11] Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

And again, in Psalms 49:9 it reads.

Psa.49:9] That he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.

Written a thousand years before Christ by King David. back to 1Pet.1 and verse 5 reads.

1Pet.1:5] Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Speaking of the second advent, the seventh trump. This power of God comes from faith, faith unto salvation. For whomsoever believes. John 3:16. But let’s go to Acts 2:16-18, and it reads.

Acts 2:16] But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

Joel 2:28-29.

Acts 2:17] And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God,I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
[18] And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

Praise God, he has foretold us all things. Back to 1Pet.1 and verse 6 reads.

1Pet.1:6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:

For those left in the flesh at the end times, don’t let this scare you, 1Cor.10:11-13 and it reads.

1Cor.10:11] Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Speaking of all the prophets and prophesies, they are examples for us in these end times.

1Cor.10:12] Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
[13] There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

God is faithful to those who love him, he will always show us a way out. Back to 1Pet.1 and verse 7 reads.

1Pet.1:7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

We will go through tribulation, stand strong with the gospel armor on.

1Pet.1:8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:

Peter writing this letter knowing that the reader didn’t walk with Jesus as he did. Yet we believe, which gives the greater glory to God.

1Pet.1:9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
[10] Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

Salvation is the reward for our faith. The prophets saw the visions and wrote them for us in these end times in the Old Testament.

1Pet.1:11] Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

The crucifixion of Jesus Christ was written a thousand years before in Psalms 22. The resurrection in Psalms 23.

1Pet.1:12] Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

We believe that all scripture is given by God. 2Tim.3:16 reads.

2Tim.3:16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Back to 1Pet.1 and verse 13 reads.

1Pet.1:13] Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

Then, when the seventh trump sounds and Christ returns, we shall hear “Job well done my good and faithful servants”.

1Pet.1:14] As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

God opens our eyes in his season, we repent and are forgiven.

1Pet.1:15] But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
[16] Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Repentance erases all sin and his stripes are healing. Written in Lev.11:44.

1Pet.1:17] And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:

We will let our works show our faith. Fear is love or Revere, but that we love him we have work to do here in the flesh, while we wait for his coming.

1Pet.1:18] Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
[19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

We are redeemed by the blood of the Lamb, not by silver or gold.

1Pet.1:20] Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

Showing us here the earth age that was and the one that is now. This word foundation is Katabole, G2602; To throw down or overthrow. The overthrow of Satan in the first earth age. So, what this was saying is; The elect that was chosen in the first earth age, will be made known to all in the last days.

1Pet.1:21] Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.

Jesus is Emmanuel, God with us. John 1:14.

1Pet.1:22] Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

Purified through repentance, a change of mind, through the Holy Spirit.

1Pet.1:23] Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Born from above, through the Word of God.

1Pet.1:24] For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
[25] But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

The flesh comes and goes, we strive for life everlasting, only the Spirit is everlasting. The Word is everlasting. Do you want everlasting life? Then read his word, Jesus told us in Mark 13:23 and it reads.

Mark 13:23] But take ye heed: behold, I have foretold you all things.

Well, that was a great start for a great book, let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
