Today in 1John chapter 3 we will learn more on law and who are the Kenites. 1John 3 and verse 1 reads.

1John 3:1] Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

A very bold statement that we need to consider. He just called us sons of God, we are and he is our Father. Let’s go to the Gospel of John and read 1:12.

John 1:12] But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

And John 3:15-17 reads.

John 3:15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Back to 1John 3 and verse 2 reads.

1John 3:2] Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Speaking of the second advent, the seventh trump, Jesus will come again. We will know him and all will be in spirit.

1John 3:3] And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

We purify ourselves with the word of God.

1John 3:4] Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Did this just say we are no longer under the law? No, but that sin is transgression of the law. You see, Jesus did not come to do away with the law, but to fulfill the law. Mat.5:17-18 reads.

Mat.5:17] Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
[18] For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Back to 1John 3 and verse 5 reads.

1John 3:5] And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

Written in the gospel of John, 1:14 reads.

John 1:14] And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Back to 1John 3 and verse 6 reads.

1John 3:6] Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

When we abide in him (the word) then he and the Father abide in us. We have no sin because of repentance.

1John 3:7] Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

When we do what is right then we see those who are against us, you will be persecuted, hated for his namesake.

1John 3:8] He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Manifested, or made known, to Gods children. We learned in Heb.2:14 and it reads.

Heb.2:14] Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;

Back to 1John 3 and verse 9 reads.

1John 3:9] Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
[10] In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

The first prophesy in Gods word told us of this. Let’s go to Gen. 3:15-16 and it reads.

Gen.3:15] And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

They bruised his heels when they nailed him to the cross, but at the second advent Christ shall bruise his head.

Gen.3:16] Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

Now right here we learn that God multiplied her conception, she would have twins, one from the serpent and the other from Adam. Cain of that wicked one, and Abel who was righteous from Adam. Back to 1John 3 and verse 11 reads.

1John 3:11] For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
[12] Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

We learned in Mat.13:24-30 the parable of the tares. And in Mat.13:37-39 who are the tares, let’s read.

Mat.13:37] He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;
[38] The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;
[39] The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

So the children of Cain, or better said offspring, are called Kenites. These are the tares, and they are to be left alone until the reapers at the seventh trump gather them and throw them into the fire. Back to 1John 3 and verse 13 reads.

1John 3:13] Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

Jesus prayed for us to the Father in John 17, let’s read verses 14-16.

John 17:14] I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
[15] I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
[16] They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

Wonder why you don’t seem to belong in this world. It is because this world is full of evil and deceit. A very important chapter in the gospel of John, this to me is the true Lord’s Prayer. Back to 1John 3 and verse 14 reads.

1John 3:14] We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
[15] Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Verse 15 is one that you should never forget. There is no everlasting life for a murderer. But remember we are not the judge, only the LORD can judge.

1John 3:16] Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

Jesus taught us in the gospel of John 15:12-14 and it reads.

John 15:12] This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
[13] Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
[14] Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Jesus laid his life down for ours and Jesus called us his friend if we do his commandments. Back to 1John 3 and verse 17 reads.

1John 3:17] But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Compassion is a trait of God’s elect. No compassion for a brother, then no love of God is within you. John is teaching us a simple rule for compassion, to love one another, meaning for brother to love brother. We are the children of God and should act like it.

1John 3:18] My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Show you love your brother, don’t just tell him.

1John 3:19] And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.
[20] For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

Here is where repentance comes in, we know when we sin. We know when we sin against a brother, this is when our heart condemns us.

1John 3:21] Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God.

Meaning we have repented.

1John 3:22] And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.
[23] And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.

Jesus gave us this commandment in John 13:34 and it reads.

John 13:34] A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

Back to 1John 3 and verse 24 reads.

1John 3:24] And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

Notice this Spirit is uppercase, this is the Holy Spirit, our Comforter. If we stay in the Word, then he dwells within us. Great study today let’s go to his throne.

Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
