John will simply get deep today, and his compassion is shown throughout his studies. 1John 2 and verse 1 reads.
1John 2:1] My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
Jesus Christ is our advocate, he stands between us and the Father, as he died for our sins that on repentance we can be forgiven. His blood cloaks our sins that we may stand before the LORD. Don’t overlook the compassion that John shows us here, with My little children.
1John 2:2] And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
This word Propitiation is G2434 Hilasmos in the Greek and means; Atonement. His blood was shed for the whole world, John 3:16.
1John 2:3] And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
We know the word of God (Jesus) by keeping his laws and commandments.
1John 2:4] He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
A common problem we have in this world today, they call themselves by his name yet they never read his word, if you do not read his word then how can you call yourself a Christian, a Christ man.
1John 2:5] But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
Keeping his word perfects us to God, and by this we show we believe.
1John 2:6] He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Jesus said “Pick up your cross and follow me”.
1John 2:7] Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
This would be the whole of the Word of God, all of the Old Testament, for it gave us the law and the prophets, it gave us Jesus Christ.
1John 2:8] Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.
Because if you are in him, he is within you. Jesus Christ is the Light and the darkness comprehended it not.
1John 2:9] He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.
[10] He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him.
Very important to understand “What is a brother.” A brother is one of Jacob, knowing there are twelve tribes of Israel, this is a brother. A neighbor is a gentile that is brought into Christianity.
1John 2:11] But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.
This is why he stumbles, without Jesus, Satan moves into the heart.
1John 2:12] I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
His namesake is Christian.
1John 2:13] I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.
Back to the first earth age when we all knew him. I want to go to Job, where God is speaking directly to Job. And it reads.
Job 38:7] When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Now, God was speaking to Job about where were you when all these things happened, and verse 7 was his answer. These stars are all his children, even Satan, and all praised the LORD with joy. This was the first earth and heaven age. Then Satan became full with pride and drew a third of God’s children from him thus causing God to destroy that age (time) and now John brings us to this earth age.
1John 2:14] I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
This is the second earth age and the gospel of John started with, “In the beginning was the Word”. Jesus is the Living Word, without the Word we have nothing that is of God, therefore God is not in us. But that we do have the Word, Jesus, God is in us and that wicked one can do you no harm.
1John 2:15] Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
A very important verse to remember, to love the world is to hate the Father, but he explains.
1John 2:16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
These things mentioned are not spiritual but fleshly.
1John 2:17] And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
The world will pass away, into the third earth age, but our spirit will be eternal. This is why I have always said “If you don’t understand the beginning, you can never understand the end”. I am speaking of the first six chapters of Genesis.
1John 2:18] Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.
Written for God’s elect in these end times. Let’s check out this word antichrist, G500 antichristos in the Greek. And we can break it down from G473 anti meaning; instead of. So, antichrist is instead of Christ, this is Satan and he comes before Christ at the sixth trump. There will be no flying away. Now, let’s look at antichrists, plural. These would be instead of Christians. Maybe even those who say their Christians but do lie and are of the synagogue of Satan. In other words, false teachers. Let’s go to Mat.24 and pick it up with verse 22 and it reads.
Mat.24:22] And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
Rev.9, he has shortened it from 7yrs. to five months.
Mat.24:23] Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
[24] For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
I want you to notice that they were plural, false Christs and false prophets. There will be many, and also Satan. He is the father of the serpent seed.
Mat.24:25] Behold, I have told you before.
[26] Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
Do not be deceived. When the true Christ comes all are changed into the spirit body immediately, there will be no doubt. Back to 1John 2 and verse 19 reads.
1John 2:19] They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Manifest is; made known. There is no way they could be of us because they do not believe in Jesus Christ.
1John 2:20] But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
This word unction means discernment and it is a blessing given to us from God. Now, listen really close to what is about to be said.
1John 2:21] I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
[22] Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
[23] Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
[24] Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
[25] And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
None that deny Jesus is the Son of God will have eternal life. Period. But all who believe on him will have eternal life. John 3:16.
1John 2:26] These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.
[27] But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
[28] And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
[29] If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
Jesus taught us in the gospel of John how that we have both the Father and the Son abiding within us. Let’s go to John 14 and picking it up with verse 21 it reads.
John 14:21] He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
[22] Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
[23] Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
[24] He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
[25] These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
[26] But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
[27] Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Easier to understand John’s teachings when we go back to Jesus’s teachings. Another great study today. Let’s go to his throne.
