1 Corinthians 6 and verse 1 reads.
1Cor.6:1] Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints?
This is speaking of if anyone has a legal problem with a brother, and for this reason we will use “Christians”. Then why go to a non-Christian for judgement.
1Cor.6:2] Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?
Don’t overlook he asked if you know how the saints will judge the world. This is in the millennium. Let’s go to Ezekiel 44. From Ch. 40-48 is in the millennium. Eze.44:23-26 reads.
Eze.44:23] And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
[24] And in controversy they shall stand in judgment; and they shall judge it according to my judgments: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all mine assemblies; and they shall hallow my sabbaths.
[25] And they shall come at no dead person to defile themselves: but for father, or for mother, or for son, or for daughter, for brother, or for sister that hath had no husband, they may defile themselves.
For our family that does not overcome we will be allowed to go to them and teach them. The millennium is a time for teaching discipline. The “dead” are spiritually dead. But why not our sisters that are married? Because when they are married, they become one with their husband. And are now a part of their family. But this comes at a cost.
Eze.44:26] And after he is cleansed, they shall reckon unto him seven days.
Seven days they must cleanse themselves before they can come before the LORD. back to 1Cor.6 and verse 3 reads.
1Cor.6:3] Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life?
[4] If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church.
Knowing we will judge in the millennium then how can we not be trusted to judge among ourselves in the flesh? We should be not only trusted but willing.
1Cor.6:5] I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?
[6] But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
If being believers then why trust an unbeliever.
1Cor.6:7] Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
Paul is saying it is better to let it go than to go against one another in an unbelievers court. They do not know the laws of God.
1Cor.6:8] Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.
[9] Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,
[10] Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
Among these that do not inherit the kingdom of God are homosexuals (effeminates). Not to be obnoxious but I must teach the word of God boldly. If we can bring just one to repentance, and out of the fire unto the Lord. but notice that he compares taking a brother to a non-believers court to those that do not inherit the kingdom of God.
1Cor.6:11] And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
[12] All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.
All Christians need to understand what was really meant by Matthew 5 when Jesus said “I came not to destroy the law, but fulfill the law.” So, we do not take our brothers to court, we first find an arbitrator. And if that doesn’t work, we take it to the church. And the church will decide, and both parties should respect that decision. And if not, then they aren’t being Christian, then you may sue them in a court of law.
1Cor.6:13] Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.
The flesh is not for the spirit, the spirit is for eternal life.
1Cor.6:14] And God hath both raised up the Lord, and will also raise up us by his own power.
[15] Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
We have two bodies. One flesh, and the other spirit. When the flesh dies then the spirit steps out and returns back to the Father who gave it. Ecc.12:7. Paul is speaking of the spiritual body here.
1Cor.6:16] What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
Husband and wife become one flesh with child.
1Cor.6:17] But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
Our spirit joins with the Holy Spirit.
1Cor.6:18] Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that commiteth fornication sinneth against his own body.
He brings in the flesh here. leaving out the Holy Spirit. We cannot sin and be with him. When we sin, the sin is on us, not the Father.
Cor.6:19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
Our spiritual body is the temple of the Lord. His Spirit in us makes us his property. Always repent of all your sins, and he will stay with you. He will never leave you or forsake you. His promise to all that love him.
1Cor.6:20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.
A heavy price was paid by Christ for us to have this promise. His blood on the cross was for our spiritual bodies. Notice ownership in “which are God’s”. Stay in his Word and he will stay in you. Let’s go to his throne.
