1Cor.5 is an exciting chapter today. Chapter 5 and verse 1 reads.
1Cor.5:1] It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife.
Even the gentiles know not to do this. Paul is talking about a sin that long ago was deemed ok by the church. Not by God, but by man. If any church commits any sin, then we need to call them out.
1Cor.5:2] And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.
Kick them out from among you. Do not allow this in the church.
1Cor.5:3] For I verily, as absent in body, but present in spirit, have judged already, as though I were present, concerning him that hath so done this deed,
Paul has made up his mind already.
1Cor.5:4] In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
And with the power of Jesus Christ, that’s the Holy Spirit.
1Cor.5:5] To deliver such an one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.
Let them go to Satan, then maybe they will come back to the Father stronger in belief.
Cor.5:6] Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
Leaven is sin. Let a little into the church and it will spread.
1Cor.5:7] Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:
Doing this will clean the church. But, let’s take a minute here, I hope you caught that. Christ is our Passover. Not our easter, but Passover.
1Cor.5:8] Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Telling us to keep the Passover pure. What is the Passover? That was the blood of the lamb that they put on the doorpost to keep the death angel from entering their house, and killing their firstborn. Christ became our Passover Lamb. His blood on the cross keeps the death angel (Satan) from our homes. Are you understanding the Passover now? This is why it is so important to understand, as Christians, we are to keep the Passover and not easter.
1Cor.5:9] I wrote unto you in an epistle not to company with fornicators:
We see now that he has been talking to us about spiritual and not of the flesh. Fornication is false religion. Keep it out of the church.
1Cor.5:10] Yet not altogether with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world.
We know that we are not of this world. I want to go to the Epistles of John, 1st Ep.4:1-6 and it reads.
1Ep.John 4:1] Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Many false teachers stand before you behind a pulpit.
1Ep.John 4:2] Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
[3] And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.
This is that enmity that God put between the Serpents seed and Eve’s. We are both in the world together. The Tares and the Wheat, the Kenites and Gods’ children.
1Ep.John 4:4] Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
[5] They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.
[6] We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.
Jesus said unto the Kenites in John 8:43 “Why do you not understand my speech?” Back to 1Cor.5 and verse 11 reads.
1Cor.5:11] But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat.
[12] For what have I to do to judge them also that are without? do not ye judge them that are within?
[13] But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.
God will judge them. Those that are not of God that may be our brothers, what about them? Let’s go to 2Thesalonians and read chapter 3.
2Thes.3:6] Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
Tradition should have been translated gospels, or epistles.
2Thes.3:7] For yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
[8] Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
Paul was a tent maker, and he pulled his weight.
2Thes.3:9] Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
[10] For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
Don’t forget that one, if he doesn’t work then he doesn’t eat.
2Thes.3:11] For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
[12] Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
[13] But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.
[14] And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
[15] Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
Put him away, not as an enemy but this is how you handle your brothers. Now a brother is one from the womb. Eve’s womb, an Israelite. Not to confuse one that is a gentile, that would be a neighbor. Keeping the church pure from false teaching and traditions of men. That was what this study was about. Let’s go to his throne.
Father, we thank you for your word and ask that you bless all that love you in Jesus’s precious name, Amen.
